Sounds good, I agree with you about people who are work-shy. The Beeb are adapting Sally Rooney's Conversations with Friends into a mini series too which should be interesting.
I overall did not really like this book very much, lol. I found it disappointing. I hated Cassandra (I think that is the right one, the one dating the guy) for blaming Queenie entirely for what happened...when how could she possibly know? And then Queenie for just forgiving her so quickly. That really really irritated me, Queenie deserved better. I also didn't like how she tried to throw in the Black Lives Matter movement. It felt like an afterthought and had no follow through in the book. Like her agent thought it would be impossible to sell a book by a Black Millennial without mentioning it. I agree that there were a lot of nuanced bits that I appreciated (for me it was mostly interactions with her white boyfriend and his family) and showing the various forms of racism (overt and subtle) that people have to go through, but in general I did not like the book and am a little disappointed because my cover of it was spectacular but I just could not keep that on my shelves.
Thank you for the review 😶🌫️👁️💝😇🤟. You're surreal 👐
I'm 3 chapters in; glad u enjoyed; luv cover! Dislike flashbacks, but see the sense of it.
