Thank you! This short summary contains some information beyond what I already knew and it rings true to me. I have always wondered how Oliver could have become so disenchanted with some of the people in the Church that he left it even though he had had such incredibly divine experiences. But as someone who struggles to reconcile the harmful actions of others in the Church and as a result also struggles at times to keep myself focused on the truths of the Gospel, in some much smaller way I guess I can relate to some of the things he was struggling with. In the end, I have always been comforted by the fact that neither he nor Martin Harris nor David Whitmer, nor any of the Eight Witnesses, ever denied their testimonies of the Book of Mormon, and the additional information in your post helps to further confirm that for me. Thanks again! P.S. I should add a short, somewhat related story from our family history. My great great grandfather was a young man growing up in northern Utah when he learned that an elderly Martin Harris was living in a town about 10 miles to the north. He decided one day that he needed to ask Martin Harris directly if his testimony of the Book of Mormon was indeed true, so he walked the 10 miles, found Martin’s home and knocked on his door. In short, they had a wonderful conversation during which Martin looked my great great grandfather in the eye and assured him of the truthfulness of every word. That experience inspired my great great grandfather so much that he essentially dedicated the rest of his life to proclaiming the gospel, including serving several missions later in his life.
Don't attribute your blindness to others. Am i to disavow what ive seen just because you have not? Nor even, apparently, think you can. Life in a box will not help you unless you are willing to crawl out and look for yourself or continue to believe what others have seen for themselves and received peace in a turmoilrous world. Quoting words of man? This way, that way, true knowledge and wisdom comes from the being you obviously look to. Ask him to show you. If you ask with pure unadulterated want then you will know for yourself . Till then don't be like lobsters pulling every one back down into your cage of ignorance.
I am humbled by Oliver Cowdery and Martin Harris coming back to the Gospel of our Lord. They were an integral to the restoration. I am privileged to have associated with Brother Harris's descendants.

Really nice video. Although small correction. Oliver Cowdrey was not on his deathbed with the Jacob Gates quote, although he was close to dying. “To question him thus seemed to touch Oliver very deeply. He answered not a word, but arose from his easy chair, went to the book case, took down a Book of Mormon of the first edition, turned to the testimony of the Three Witnesses, and read in the most solemn manner the words to which he had subscribed his name, nearly twenty years before. Facing my father, he said: "Jacob, I want you to remember what I say to you. I am a dying man, and what would it profit me to tell you a lie? I know," said he, "that this Book of Mormon was translated by the gift and power of God. My eyes saw, my ears heard, and my understanding was touched, and I know that whereof I testified is true. It was no dream, no vain imagination of the mind-it was real."
He felt the charges leveled against him would affect the knowledge he personally had, would then no be believed or lessened by others. I get that. HE needed reassurance that his testimony still stood with church leaders. I get that, too.
Why did you leave out the part of Oliver Cowdery's testimony when he states that Joseph used the Urim & Thummin and the Plates by the gift and power of God when translating the Book of Mormon?
It’s probably meant to represent the incredible light & truth to be in the presence of HF & JC. Since this video is about Oliver’s challenges that gesture seems appropriate to me.
We can all stumble and fall, as my mother has always taught me, and my siblings. But its not, the falling down that's important, it's the getting back up! And continueing to do what's right, and follow Jesus christ! No matter the cost.🙏😊 To all those who maybe struggling, The Lord loves you! And so do l ❤😊
