Ain't it cute?! I get so many odd looks when I ride it around... people just don't know what to think of it. Yamaha didn't sell many of these in the USA because it was just too quirky and too small to catch on here. However, in Japan, Europe, and the UK, it sold like hotcakes... the model name over there was the "XF50X", the "Giggle" in Europe/UK, or the "Vox" in Japan. --QM
My first scooter I had I was 12 was a Yamahopper, I thought I was Bad ass. I don’t remember what my last one was. I bout it from a friend for $200 when I was 17 I loved it but it wasn’t a Yamahopper so the name didn’t stick with me.
😁 I've thought about insulating the box under the seat, plugging the drain holes, and then using it as a cooler... just as a joke. I could even get a Coleman or YETI logo to paste on the side panels. That way when someone asks me at a stop light if it's a cooler on wheels, I could step off, open the seat and toss them an ice-cold drink. Then I'd just ride away like everything was completely normal. It would be priceless to see their reaction. 🤣 --QM
Two words: textile mesh. Houston's heat and humidity really sucks, but I'd rather sweat a little bit and keep my skin in case of a slide. Road rash sucks! 😉👍
I gather you have not driven on Congress(35mph marked, 55 mph if you don't want to get run over, when I was there in the late '70s) in Austin during the afternoon rush hour...LOL..BTW as for aesthetics, this is downright, FUGLY, IMHO...
Yep, I actually lived in Austin from 1995-2002, so I know how crazy their roads can be. Particular parts of Austin are fast (and furious), but it's not EVERYWHERE like it is here in Houston. As for the Yamaha C3's aesthetics, it' tends to be love or hate relationship. It didn't sell well here in the USA, but they were insanely popular in Europe and Japan for 10+ years. I like it because it's quirky and very reliable compared to other small scooters. --QM
It'll carry a 18-pack of beer or 6 dozen eggs under the seat and still have room for my rain gear. 🤣 I have hauled stupid amounts of groceries on that little mule... including a 40-pound bag of dog food across the center tunnel (sitting on top of my SHAD tunnel bag). It's even funnier to see people's faces when I pull into a camp ground and unload a full camp compliment from under the seat... people gather around and gawk in awe that everything fit... it's like a magic trick. --QM

It has been sitting since then with fuel stabilizer in the fuel, but that's only gonna last so long before it rusts up again. 😉👍 --QM
How do you order parts from Japan?
My go-to source for Japanese parts (both OEM and aftermarket) is Webike Japan: japan.webike.net . They have a great selection of accessories and performance parts for all of the major brands... stuff that's difficult (or impossible) to find here in the USA.
Shipping can be quite expensive, so I usually buy several items at the same time to justify the shipping costs. On the bright side, their shipping via DHL Express is very fast... usually 3-5 business days to the USA! If Webike doesn't have what I need, then I search through Ebay to find the item from a seller with a high reputation score. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard thanks a bunch!! I’ll take a look at webike - appreciate the advice!
What kinda windshield is that?
That is the Slipstreamer HD-3 (7/8", smoke): www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CJHZT0 . It's actually designed for cruiser bikes, but it fit the front aesthetic of the C3 very well because of the boxy front panel. I have also seen these fitted to Honda Ruckus scooters, but I think it looks better on my C3. 😉 Cheers! 👍 --QM
That thing is so Ugly I love it....
I bout it from a friend for $200 when I was 17 I loved it but it wasn’t a Yamahopper so the name didn’t stick with me.
a cooler on wheels ha ha
😁 I've thought about insulating the box under the seat, plugging the drain holes, and then using it as a cooler... just as a joke. I could even get a Coleman or YETI logo to paste on the side panels. That way when someone asks me at a stop light if it's a cooler on wheels, I could step off, open the seat and toss them an ice-cold drink. Then I'd just ride away like everything was completely normal. It would be priceless to see their reaction. 🤣 --QM
No way would I be wearing gloves and long sleeves on a hot day like that.
--QM
how many eggs can u carry on that bad boi? naughty
--QM
@@QuasiMotard hmm, still not enough eggs for me. thanks though. i'll look elsewhere
Hi. What is the name of the windshield?
That is the Slipstreamer HD-3 SMK w/ 7/8" mounts: www.amazon.com/Slipstreamer-HD-3-Windshield-8in-Smoke/dp/B003CJHZT0 . You can probably find it cheaper if you shop around... I paid $65 for it several years ago. Cheers! 👍 --QM
