No team is good enough to overlook any team! You never know when a team will match up perfect to your weaknesses and will pound you! You have to go into every game hard and ready for war, or you just may get embarrassed by a "worse" team. Remember that the ball is shaped odd and can bounce in any direction, for you or away from you!
The winning team storming the field twice reminds me of the 1994 Orange Bowl between Florida State and Nebraska. Florida State, despite being heavily favored, had trailed Nebraska for much of the game, clawed back to take a narrow 15-13 lead, but gave up a field goal with just over a minute to play to fall behind again 16-15. The Seminoles managed to put together a hurry-up drive to regain the lead with a field goal of their own with just 21 seconds to go. Down 18-16 in the final seconds, Nebraska completed a long pass, but it appeared that time had run out. The FSU fans stormed the field, but, much like in this game, their celebration was interrupted by the news that there was still 1 second to play. Nebraska opted to try a long (for that era) 45 yard field goal, but missed it wide left, allowing the FSU fans to storm the field again.

I personally don't like the arbitrary strength of schedule argument because it snubs very deserving teams, but instead uses game performance to determine playoff worthiness. Even then, Liberty would not be playoff-worthy win or lose, but glad they lost.
Sorry, but I have to vehemently disagree with you on this one. There is NO way this game was a bigger upset than Vandy beating Bama or NIU beating ND! They could possibly go winless in a major conference or come out with 1 or 2 wins tops. And we're not talking about North Dakota State either, who belongs against tougher competition. We're talking about something like NIU beating ND or Appalachian State beating Michigan or something like that. Kennesaw beating Liberty was a major upset in context...but not so much on the radar of the whole of college football. Not close.
