  • Three ways you can charge language with meaning (and thus create great literature):
    - Phanopoeia
    - Melopoeia
    - Logopoeia
Agree? Disagree? Enjoy Pound's poem? Let me know!

I'm taking poetry this semester, we didn't get through the melopoeia and the rest of them, so I didn't fully understand it. but I needed the analysis for this poem, you did a great job explaining it! Thank you so much 🥰

I think Spanish and other Romance languages have a better logopoeia in their poems. These languages have a more complex and convoluted vocabulary, but English does it very well.

I agree. Complex poems read very clearly in French and Spanish. In English they always seem jumbled and forced. English excels more with strength in simplicity and directness.
Interestingly, Borges contributed to bringing modern English power and simplicity into Spanish literature, injecting it with a new-found sense of power and clarity.

this is one of my favourite ever poems (despite Pound ... being a absolute facist) the way he talks about what meaning is is really interesting too - being a almost electrical charge passed through the poem from the author to the reader.
