This is my new favorite series. Recently moved to the bay (we switched places lol) and these are such a cozy reminder of one of the best parts of home. If you ever make it to Everett, Go!Go! Teriyaki is the bee's knees and definitely deserve a little exposure. Appreciate you for doing these!
Aww, man! What a great memory blast. Grew up in Seattle/Tacoma, and the pure volume of awesome teriyaki joints was one of the best parts of the city. Thanks for the journey.
don't bother, if you come bring pepper gel and a knife. I was 1/4 mi away from here and was attacked by a street crazy. Look at Seattle crime statistics
Your teriyaki tour directly inspired me to make chicken teriyaki at home last night, including the sauce from scratch, and it turned out great! Very nostalgic from a childhood near Seattle.
How much did that cost? I don't think I heard a price in there. That portion size is crazy. lol Edit: I checked the website you linked, I see it's around $15.
Chicken Teriyaki was one of my go to lunches when I worked in Oakland CA - thank you Seattle for gifting this dish to the world. From what I remember - pretty much the same format (no gyoza as they didn't have a fryer, sub broccoli), used a miso dressing for that iceberg salad.
Complete aside, that gas station is always $1+ more expensive than anything else in Seattle and somehow is still there, with random trucks in the parking lot.
Amazing how you can make absolutely anything entertaining, Kenji. Have you ever been to South Africa? Would you like to go? Cape Town has some spectacular hidden gems.
Kenji! Can I recommend the teriyaki from Choice Deli & Grocery over in Ballard across the street from the Goodwill. It's a spot worth checking out if you've never been.
You should go to Choice Deli & Grocery in Ballard. It's a full on liquor store that has beer on tap and also serves decent teriyaki. Seems like a very Kenji place.
Hate to break it to you man, but you’re so late to the Teriyaki scene. 10-15 years ago the Teriyaki places were the absolute best here in Seattle. 4 out my 5 favorite shops closed down since the pandemic, since they were ran by older Asian couples that pretty much retired. Katsu and Ramen are all the rage atm, teriyaki quality is at an all time low.
You need to have an average Joe get your food to get an honest review. Your camera and food vernacular are dead giveaways that your a food review guy, so the restaurant will go above and beyond for that good review. But hopefully I’m wrong.
I use Rayban glasses, not a camera. They just look like sunglasses. And I guarantee the dudes cooking the chicken in the back don’t give a rat’s ass who’s ordering. They have a system and they follow it.
Bro had no idea the raid boss Lopez-Alt would stroll up to his cart today…

This is a fun series! Now i want to visit Seattle! Thanks!

the nerves on this man to slam the chicken sitting right in front of the food truck 🤣
lol he didnt exactly slam them
Can confirm, the sizes are enormous. It's even crazier without gyoza and just the chicken.

He's coming to try your teriyaki in the next video

I love this concept and hope it keeps going with many more restaurants.
Kenji last episode: "I will try all CapHill and then probably try a different neighbourhood"
Next episode: Kenji goes to the other side of the world.
More than anything, this series is just going to make me get really good at making my own chicken teriyaki because every video I get hungry for it
love this series! love every series you do. you are the GOAT

Community Grocery & Deli on Seneca is a very slept on spot
100%! It’s a hidden gem
Would love to hear your review of Nasai in the U District!
Great idea for a series! I would love it if you could make playlists of your restaurant reviews by neighborhood!

The food I had almost everywhere in South Africa was fantastic. It’s years later, and I still think about some of those meals…mmmm.

So, Teriyaki Chicken is different from Yakitori? Just trying to make sure I understand
There's another teriyaki place a couple blocks down, sunny teriyaki. I like it. Would like to hear your take on it too.
I cannot wait to go and try these places!
I’m definitely going to try all these places. Love me some chicken teriyaki
Kenji, do you have any teriyaki favorites or recommendations for NYC?
It’s not really a NY thing. I haven’t seen much outside of Seattle.
Try Ichi Roll on 125th and Greenwood for a good north Seattle option. It's close to carkeek too for a nice picnic
Portion wise, not bad. For $15 this looks like great for lunch.
"the food's not great, but they *will* sell it to you..." 😂

JKenj stopped drinking alcohol a bit ago! He's happier and looks better these days 🙂
True chef making fried rice out of the takeout omg
wondering when you'll make it to Ma's cafe just north of Lake Union, across from Fisheries... #1 breakfast sandwich on their menu is incredible
👍👍
It wasn’t the best teriyaki but I loved thus drive through teriyaki place in Bellingham simply because it was drive through. Only one I’ve ever seen
There's gotta be over 300 maybe 500 teriyaki joints in Seattle. This will take a few years
Dude! I love Bro's Teriyaki! Fantastic crab rangoon.
Follower count going up like Kenji’s sodium intake
"teriyaki desert" 😆
May I have a bite, Kenji? :)
Trucki-yaki
Midori Teriyaki next (1120 Howell St. Seattle WA 98101)
Yes!
The birthplace of teriyaki is Japan. A review of an eating est NOT including the price, is NOT a review.
woah J Kenji in Ballard haha

One bite, everyone knows the rules. Can't wait to see you do as much of Seattle as you can!
Get out of here with that crap.
