    Here’s a little tip. I was traveling out of the country and I decided to begin packing like 2 weeks before the date. I decided to make my den the place where I would pack all my things at . My den is next to the kitchen. Little did I know that everything that was already packed up was just sitting there soaking up the smells of whatever I was cooking that day. Going back and forth to my suit case, I didn’t smell anything because you become immune. Well, as soon as I got onto the plane (tight space), I opened my travel purse and bammm! The food smells hit me. When I got to my destination and opened my suitcase, it was the same smell. I was smelling like a whole pot roast my whole trip. No amount of perfume could cover that. Anyway, don’t pack your bags around the kitchen or strong traveling smells. 😂😂😂

      @@cynthiakerford4458 I go a bit further than that. I place a 8x10 picture of my face both on top and glued to the inside lid (if I have one) I caught a guy trying to walk off with my bag once and when I called him on it (he already tore off the tags) he created a ruckus. Security was about to let him go and detain me when I said I could irrefutably prove it's mine It took a sergeant to realize that I had a point and when they opened my bag and saw my smiling face there, the full on arrested him on the spot. (his protestations were the reason the went full on with him) But I didn't lose my stuff. It has worked for me twice in 30 years but I'm OK with that

    OK go with me on this one. Luggage tags: I print up tags using the business card template on my word processor. Most leather or rubber tag holders use that size. I put my name and Destination (Hotel?) address on the face of it along with my phone number (in fairly small type, no everyone needs to know that number) At each stop along the way I switch out the tag for the next destination. I use paper not card and I can put all the tags in the holder at the same time, with the Next destination one faced Out. I put a nice number in a circle (like a logo) in the centre so I can see at a glance if I have switched yet. Colour printing makes it cool too.
    I also put a 8x10 picture of my face Inside the luggage. This has saved me twice now from folks who rip off the tags and claim yours as theirs. While it's true that some luggage does look alike, 99.9999% of all luggage does NOT have my face inside. I also brig along a dozen or more bite sized (like Halloween) chocolate bars to give as tips to folks where money doesn't make sence. or as trades to fellow tour mates Our Canadian tastes different to many folks and shows me as thoughtful too.

    I'm a unique case. I use a wheelchair. My hands are busy pushing me. So, rolling luggage doesn't make sense. I use a duffle on my lap when I travel alone. When I'm traveling with someone else, I use my rolling bag and just let them pull it. lol

    I went to Europe about a month ago, and I knew I was going to do a lot of walking while also having the possibility of carrying around items bought from a store. I decided to buy a lite day backpack that you can fold up into a pouch the size of a small purse. I was able to stuff it in my carryon, but when I was out and about on excursions I could carry around some more cumbersome things with easy by opening it up to its full size. Plus it became my 2nd carryon item that I could stuff under the seat.

    Thank you for your video.
    I don't care for thick towels and washcloths so I pack a camp towel and thin Walmart washcloths.
    I buy the cheapest luggage possible and it still lasts for many, many years. I like to think that thieves look at my cheap luggage, assume I have no money and nothing worth stealing and they move on to that $700 Away carry-on bag.
    I get cold easily and always take a blanket or two. I like the Travelrest 4 in 1 Travel blanket because it has a slit for your head so you can wear it like a poncho and aren't fussing to keep pulling it up. I even take it to the movie theater.
    I drink a lot of water. For concerts and other events, I take a collapsible water bottle made by Nomader. It is easy to roll it up, get past security and then fill it up inside the venue.
    For flights, I have 1 and 2 liter bottles made by HydroPak and Platypus that are very durable. You need to have a cup to pour the water into for drinking. REI carries a variety of collapsible cups.
    Another option is a hydration bladder, used by runners and hikers. The bladders have a long tube attached that you drink from. Hydration backpacks with an included hydration bladder are on sale at Big 5 Sporting Goods frequently for $30-40. The backpacks appear slim but actually have a number of pockets and can be filled with a lot of stuff.
    I like to travel with a travel jacket. It has 20+ pockets and you can carry a tablet in front and a laptop in the small of your back, plus a lot of other items. Airlines are getting fussy with regards to the size and type of on-board luggage. European airlines will even weigh your carry-on. But...they can't force you to remove your clothing yet. The company I bought my jackets and vests from (I have several) seems to be out of business, unfortunately. They made knockoffs of the Bau Bax jackets at a much better price and much better quality. Look at Scott eVest, Magellan's and TravelSmith for ideas.
    Lastly, I always have to have my TRTL travel pillow. It looks odd but is so very comfortable. I fall asleep quickly and stay asleep. I use mine daily as I commute to work in a vanpool. The drive is over an hour and most of us sleep.

  • @countryrat6t6

    For carry on packing, I'm team duffle. It almost always fits under the seat if needed. Or I can smash it into tighter spaces in the overhead. But I only pack carry on for shorter trips. Over seas, I usually check my bag. If I do bring a rolling bag as a carry on, I'm not doing the four wheels. But that's me. They stick out too far and are too prone to breaking (especially if you have to gate check and the baggage handlers get ahold of it...).
    I always bring plastic grocery bags or small trash bags. I have some that just live in my suitcase until needed. Perfect for dirty laundry or wet clothes or packing shoes in, or just whatever. I've never regretted bringing them with me, I'll just say that.
    Before buying my good luggage, I kept an eye on what pilots and flight attendants were using. Bought some of that. Oh man. There's a reason they use what they use. Tough as sh*t. And if something does break, 90% chance you can go back on the website and order a cheap part to fix it yourself. Most of their rolling bags have these roller blade wheels on them which just feel so so nice. They are so smooth and quiet. Extra nice when you're the tourist tryin to get to the airport at 5am, dragging your bag across cobblestone streets. Game changer. Can't go back to hard plastic wheels. I think I spent a solid 5 minutes just pulling my bag around the house when it got delivered. Lmao! Every time I pull it out to pack for another trip, I gotta make a lap around the house with it. Oh & most of the bags are made so that they fit down the aisle of just about any plane. No need to turn it sideways. Like my larger bag (medium sized, so bigger than carry on but not the max size for checked luggage) is kind of an tall rectangular shape so that if you're an airline employee who gets to bring that in the cabin, it will roll easily down the aisle.

    For me, since you asked about duffle bags, the only time I would use a duffle over a rolling luggage is on road trips. You can just put in the trunk of your car and pick it up to your hotel where it might be obstacles that prevent you from rolling your luggage, like stairs, bumps, cobblestone, etc. Never for a flight.

    TEAM DUFFEL. I know I'm in a minority I think, but if you're not checking it and are able bodied enough to carry it - duffel! Can fit so much more. People with rolling bags always almost trip me, and take up a lot more space in the overhead bin, so more likely to be made to check it. Plus I feel like they take forever to get down from overhead after landing.

    No shame about being clean-. I break out the ziploc bag with Clorox wipes to clean the armrest, the top of the seat in front of me, the top of my seat ( these are two common high-touch areas,) and the tray, the whole thing and yes, the bathroom. Another ziplock in my bag has more for the hotel room.

    I really enjoyed this video. I love to travel and I enjoy convenience. Just recently bought some Anker chargers and power banks. I almost always use Clorox wipes to disinfect the seats and food tray. There were times that I used to bring my own towels. But now i use the hotels towels because I change wash cloths after each shower. Now I will invest in some shower shoes even though my bougie ass do wipe down the bathtub and everything in the hotel room 🤦🏽‍♂️

      - always pack what you need and not extra. you will probably not even use everything xD

      - always make sure to get your paperwork ahead of time, especially if taking pills with you or shots (insulin, etc)

    For flying I'm team rolling. We do road trips more often so I do have a duffel bag for that since i"m not carrying the bag far. For road trips we usually are staying somewhere for less time so I don't need as much stuff either so I can usually put everything in the duffel bag. I don't use locks since TSA always breaks them. They leave a little note that they searched my bag but every time I had a lock on the zipper they broke it and searched. I don't ever have anything valuable in my luggage so I'm not worried about actually losing anything but it's not as easy to lock your luggage as pre 9/11 when they just didn't check suitcases like they do now.

    Wouldn't consider myself a germaphobe but I still LOVE wipes for travel. Hand sanitizer will do if that's the only option but having wipes is so much better. You can actually wipe away dirt and whatever when you don't have easy access to a sink. Also you can wipe down various surfaces if needed.
    And I still just lay down strips of toilet paper on the toilet seat, lol! Just be extra careful not to get one of the strips hanging out of your pants like a full grown toilet monster.

    I always pack a fanny pack and wear it under my coat or sweater onto the plane. They never count it as another personal item, and I put in it all the things I will need for the flight. Once on board, I take it off, lengthen the straps fully, and hang it over the tray in front of me (the tray can still close for take-off). Then I can use it as a sling to elevate my feet. Perfect for long-haul flights.

      Southwest sure counted my AER day sling 3 max as a another personal item. Of course it was shown because I didn’t have on a sweater or coat because of the hot weather. I also had an AER backpack and my carry-on spinner. But i ended up gate checking it. And I also saw them make another dude consolidate his fanny pack before he even went into the jet bridge.

    AirTags are the best. We went to Egypt and on the way back home, we had a long layover in Canada. My suitcase was mistakenly put on the carousel, but my husband’s was supposedly transferred. Needless to say, his bag was still in Canada while we were home. So we had to wait for it arrive, then wait until the luggage claim was open to retrieve it. The AirTag allowed us to tell the clerk at the airport that his luggage was there and we weren’t leaving without it. We got our luggage and left. 😊

    I LOVE this video. As someone who travels A LOT, I clicked this video extremely fast. If you don’t want to be loyal to any particular airlines, I’d recommend Gold Alliance or something similar to build status with different airlines and transfer points between airlines. I can vouch for the Amazon cheap tech case, toilet seat covers, sani wipes, quick dry towel, air tag, and Monos luggage!!! I use all these items for every trip. You didn’t mention the hero clip but I also use one for travel and it’s been a game changer and has SOOO many uses. Also, yes on the stop by Hudson News! 😂 P.S. as a fellow germaphobe I’d recommend getting soap sheets. They look kind of like the listinerine sheets but it’s soap and dissolves with water. Super compact but totally useful.

    TIP: Clear is not with every airport, but TSA Pre Check is. Also, Global Entry is great if you travel abroad it's 5 years as well and it takes over TSA Precheck, so you will have 5 years of Global Entry that will start immediately, and if you let it expire you will still have whatever years you had for TSA Precheck left over before Global Entry started.

    Great tips! Disclaimer: My grandpa's house smelled like a hospital as he used ammonia and Lysol several times a day, so today as a germaphobe I use Lysol and ninety-nine percent alcohol in a spray bottle right as hand sanitizer typically only has about 65% alcohol. Also, don't forget to turn your work alarms off. There's nothing worse than waking up early on vacation when you could have slept in but can't get back to sleep because of the alarm.

    🔺 airline employee here! Another tip, don’t check in 2-wheel bags… we hate it. We’re unable to roll it to our guys who’s in the bin that’s about 10-15 feet away so we’re gonna have to toss it as hard as we can to get those bags to the other guy. Then ends up getting the most damaged.

    • @mariebrown9415
      @mariebrown9415 Рік тому +4

      Good to know but some of us are taking our bags on buses, trains, and wheeling on cobblestone streets. The 2 wheeled luggage are easier and more durable imo for these types of trips for me. Also 4 wheels can get pretty beat up. I can replace my 2 wheeled luggage but rarely 4 wheels. If getting in and out of cabs or Ubers 4 wheel is ok but can’t the beating like 2 wheels.

    • @EAF_Visuals
      @EAF_Visuals Рік тому +4

      @@mariebrown9415 honestly 4 wheel bags ain’t that bad. It’s usually cause people don’t want to invest in a good brand that’s more durable. You can still roll the 4 wheelers as two and I suggest Rimowa luggage’s or Nomatic luggage’s.

    • @mariebrown9415
      @mariebrown9415 Рік тому +3

      @@EAF_Visuals I’ll look at Nomatic. I have a small 4 wheel Rimowa carry on which I like and a Briggs & Riley 2 wheeled compression carry on ( bought extra set of wheels kit which are easy to change- haven’t had to yet) and a Tumi 4 wheel . I’m an over packer and use European trains and buses a lot and some trains you have to step up into them and get off quickly . Elevators broken , and often lots of steps at smaller metro and train stations - that’s my problem. My back can’t take heavy back packs so I wheel a lot. Solo traveler. Thanks for the suggestions. I use alcohol prep pads more than the wipes. I travel for extended time (3 mo at a shot) and I find wipes dry out before used up. Prep pads however are individually wrapped and contain Just alcohol and more of it per pad. You have to use it fairly fast once open as they evaporate quickly. but the last for ages when lefty unopened. They are considered medical too for TSA purposes. and you can put 100 in your bags as they are thinner than condoms but about the same size square. Minimal residual aroma too. even works when taking a pit bath should That need arise
