I need that Siege of Corinth. Much like Mackerras, Thomas Schippers never made a bad recording.

I filed that Paray Francaise cd under the conductor. That seems to work well for those miscellanies.
The Schippers Siege of Corinth is a mishmash of the Italian Maometto and the French Siege. Schippers himself said it was 80% Maometto and 20% Siege. But wait, there's more! Things are repositioned, rearranged with other interpolations. It's effective, but it is not (either) opera that Rossini actually wrote.
I love Armida also especially the 2nd act. A rare example of an Italian opera of the period with the ballet "built in." It was rarely revived but Rossini mined the ballet music for both Siege of Corinth and the French Moise et Pharaon. All delightful.

Stanley Kubrick and Bugs Bunny turned me on to Rossini.

Speaking of the Big Muti Box, do you know whether Warner is still planning the Big Muti Opera Box?
