That's a really cool "Bowser" moment, I don't remember how many times I've had that moment where I touched that and moved it somewhere else, in the video at least he got the star, I remember that in one they only gave coins, or worse, they gave the star discount, which for the last place it was not very common to get the most out of it (unless you have like 200 coins and a lot of luck where the star appears)

i disagree, mostly for balance reasons, but i am surprised none of the ones shown pulls a "ok, you asked for it" and monkey's paw the wish. "Get 100 stars"? Bowser: "Ok, i'll happily take 100 stars" (since it is unrealistic to actually happen, just drops your count to 0, possibly refunding 5 coins per star so the player isnt COMPLETELY out of the race if it happens late enough). "1,000 (insert currency here)"? Bowser: "Are you sure you can handle it? well, here you go!" throws massive ball of (insert currency here) at the player, knocking them down without them "catching" the giant ball and losing 5 coins in the process or something. The point is that they are too good to be true, the mere fact the space is actually positive in 10 instead of just "get away from the consequences of the space scuff free" is already impressive enough. (gives +1 currency). 100 stars is never going to naturally happen, and even with bonus stars and hidden blocks, the one who holds onto that nest egg is basically guaranteed the win, only changing hands with the infamy of chance time. 1,000+ currency might not guarantee a win, but it will confidently break ties and allow the profiting player to spend luxuriously, buying up a full stock of gold pipes or similar broken items every shop visit and never needing any effort to gain more money (they can completely disconnect from minigames). Again, it comes down to chance time and percentage based penalties to coins to make a difference with a value so far and away from the norm. Hitting the jackpot is already rare enough, letting it be the sole deciding factor of a game where it occurs is a bit much. If the jackpots were ever going to be honest, it would need to be in a completely different mode who's progression style is different. Said mode would be practically required to be single player in nature, be it a meta currency for a ranking system, or a campaign mode with a much longer total runtime where such a boon could run its course without completely deciding the end results. It is practically too hypothetical to paint a solid enough wordscape to describe it in vivid detail with no room for confusion or misinterpretation. The closest i could probably get is by comparing it to a very different game. Dokapon kingdom, specifically, who's campaign is so long for a monopoly/mario party-esque mashup that early game economy does nothing to dictate endgame standings, especially with the extremely swing-y catch-up mechanic the game has (that starts to fall apart in 2 player games without cpu opponents as far too effective an equalizer to make any progress). Even the comparison isnt quite accurate because of how the game is built around swinging the momentum so drastically so frequently.
I had a hacked version of Mario Party DS on an R4 someone got me for Christmas once, and it actually was possible to get the "100 stars" option, and you would actually get them. It was only when I replayed the game on Virtual Console years later that I learnt that that's not supposed to happen, and that stars are meant to be capped at 99 anyway.

I had a hacked version of Mario Party DS on an R4 someone got me for Christmas once, and it actually was possible to get the "100 stars" option, and you would actually get them. It was only when I replayed the game on Virtual Console years later that I learnt that that's not supposed to happen, and that stars are meant to be capped at 99 anyway.

Here’s a few fanmade conditions of how to get the “big prizes”:
Mario Party 2: Be in last place with 0 stars and coins with an opponent having exactly 10 stars and it has to be the final turn of a 50 turn game. After fulfilling the conditions, it’s a 1% chance of him giving it to you if you land on a bowser space, odds are increased to 66% if you roll triple 6 with the golden mushroom
Mario Party 3: Be in last place with 0 stars and coins with all the other opponents tied at 100 coins exactly, and roll a triple 6 during the same game. Bowser will always then give 999 coins to everyone and add 6004 coins to your game guy account.
Mario Party 9: Be in last place with 0 mini stars and only pick up mini Ztars, all the other opponents mini star count must be exactly 100, and you must land on the final bowser space. Bowser will then reward all the players with maximum mini star count, but the rest of the stars on the map are now mini Ztars, even the boss minigame and bonus stars. Also applies to bananas.
Mario Party Island Tour: Player must have exactly 0 party points and the game has to be 100% completed in order to receive it.
Mario Party 10: Same objective as Mario Party 9
Mario Party Superstars: Be in last place with exactly 0 stars and 0 coins with 1 opponent having 1 star and 100 coins exactly, game has to be during the last 5 turns
Super Mario Party Jamboree: Be in last place with exactly 0 stars and 0 coins, and all powerups in your inventory must be lodestones or cursed dice. Alternatively on the racing board, it will always be given next if someone rolled quadruple 6s during the game.
Just a heads up do NOT attempt any of these conditions as they are fanmade and won’t work.
