He might be the goat at 125. But not THE goat of all MMA. Dude is just very strong for a class that isn’t packed with strong guys. He looked much more human at 135.
Defining moment for his career and legacy, for sure. People always question a fighter's will after they suffer from a devastating loss, and he proved he's still on top.
True. Losing to Moraes the first time made this recent win a much much bigger deal. If DJ just swept the entire line of opponents straight to the belt when he first came to One Championship - I am sure many would just disregard him and say he's only fighting cans. The adversity, the challenging matches, and the loss he took; all added to the glory of him finally winning the belt. Also, I must say, One Championship has a really good product. But to win a belt in the UFC first, defend it 11 times consecutively, then to go to ONE in your mid to late 30s, which arguably has a deeper division in the lower weight classes, and then pick up the belt. He's actually fighting at 135 which is crazy. The fact that the UFC traded him for Askren and are now making Moreno vs Figgy for the 4th time when this guy should be holding all the belts. Im down for a cross promotion 1 off fight
It's unfortunate that personal beefs have to play such a big role when it comes to getting the greatest fighters of a certain division into the UFC, DJ is doing phenomenally well for him but Cyborg is stuck with Bellator's pitiful featherweight division. Realistically she's probably gonna be propping up the division until she's past her prime, and get fed to a young fighter 4 or 5 years down the line, instead of getting to prove herself against nunes.

@Girthful You don't think so? Look at what he's done. If the UFC had always had a flyweight division, he probably would've had 15 or 20 title defenses and the only person that could beat him at 135, at the time, was Dominick Cruz. The most dominant ban team weight champ in UFC history.
DJ was competitive on the ground in the first round. He did a lot of damage from his back and was threatening submissions. The second round was rough, DJ got hurt but Moraes spent a lot of energy. Coming into the third DJ looked fresh, crisp and ready, while Moraes looked beaten and exhausted. At the start of the 4th I said out loud Moraes looked like he wanted out of the fight. He is big for the division and I think that caught up to him when DJ was fresh but he was spent. That 4th round DJ was completely outclassing him. Overall I saw (if we were to judge by rounds) at worse 2-2 but a real argument could be made for a split round 1 or even for DJ. I don’t think he was losing the fight when he won.
I think in one championship they judge whole fight and not round by round. I think damage Moraes did in round 2 put him in the lead until DJ finished him.
Yeah I agree, I was reading comments of people saying DJ was losing every round before the finish, So i rewatched the fight and I had it 1&2 for Moraes then honestly from round 3 On DJ kinda dismantled him. Have no clue how anyone could claim DJ was losing that fight after watching, As it seemed clear he was starting to put it on Moraes as he was def fading. That 4th round he seemed dejected, And DJ stayed aggressive. And that KO was a thing of beauty. Moraes is legit still a beast tho.
I didn't like Moraes' look at the face-offs. Moraes appeared uncertain, while DJ was radiating confidence and most vivid fighter spirit. Moraes missed weight and failed the hydration test (BTW, did he make up weight and hydration in the last hours?). In the fight Moraes looked repressed as well. Giving ground, overreacting on feints. Still doing good, but after first say two rounds his energy seemed to fade, he was not eager to fight. Demetrious - phenomenal 👏👏👏 I don't think he was losing the fight.
Agreed DJ was competitive on his back in R1 but he still clearly lost it in my view. But I totally agree about the energy and intentions of both fighters come late on. Even if DJ hadn't stopped Moraes, the way things were going, he would have coasted comfortably to a 3-2 decision. Caveat: I'm not familiar how One score MMA fights. Figgy vs DJ would be an interesting fight for sure
The pauses by this guy are crazy
DJ is the true GOAT!!!
How did he know that knee was enough? Watched it live and thought are you ducking kidding me? This man has caught a dude mid air in a arm bar and now has a walk off fence knee 🤷♂️
First time I saw DJ was against Rodtang and he beat him. As a Muay Thai lover I didn't like that at all. Then I found out more about DJ and he is such a great guy. No nonsense, family first, fought all odds in life and stayed humble while very successful. He is a roll model for sure..
Johnson was an hero , a real beast however over each limit.
Man if there could be an undisputed champion on MMA, I’m sure DJ could be the one achieving it. Too bad MMA promotions don’t get along…
DJ is the absolute GOAT. What a great human
Honestly one of the most amazing fights I've seen a long time
Oh DJ surprised the hell out of me!!
Chaels got a black eye and blood all over his shirt, still did a video. Undefeated, undisputed.
I can hear Chael talk about the Chad Volk scenario over and over and each time I still look forward to it
I'll be back ~D.Johnson
Chael is the fucking GOAT behind the camera. I watch his videos and I want to fucking give up lol loved this assessment
Uncle Dana and the UFC brass need to do right for all of us and bring Mighty Mouse back for a championship fight in the bantamweight division.
Why would he come back? The UFC treated him like trash. He's better of staying away from that organization.
Don't think it will ever happen
His jump to get that armband was insane
Mighty Mouse v Assassin Baby that’s the fight I’d like to see.
Another one of Matt Humes high level fighters💪🏽
I’ve been waiting for this video all day
saw both fights, have to agree
I like the no bull fighting. Great Fight 👍
He KO'd the bigger man who is also likely juiced. My man DJ a true legend
Perfect right hand
DJ os one of the best to ever do It. Amazing athlete
Moraes wasn’t the same after the cut happened. Solid job from DJ
DJ is DEFINITELY THE GOAT.
Overwhelming Aggression
Dj is a legend and Uncle Chael has drool on his shirt.
Mighty Mouse is nuts. All that escape from tarkov gaming kept him gritty
dj is the goat
If you pause DJ's knee, it's like a poster.
When Moraes rehydrated, he looked a full 2 weight classes bigger than DJ. DJ won the 135-pound belt. That's not his natural weight class. His skill is off the chart. He's at least top 5 all-time... And not just the UFC, I'm talking about all MMA organizations... And he's 36!
I think he’s gotta be the absolute best of all time where skill is concerned
@@sunshinekid7799 You'll get no argument from me. In the G.O.A.T discussion, I believe he has a more complete, more rounded skillset than anyone else in that discussion.
@@Tradewins4cash no worries I’m not looking for one lol. I was just adding my two cents 😅😂
"I can't let you get close"
DJ comes back and beats the 125lb champ to regain his UFC Title belt created for him!! Champ Champ!
Yeah this win puts him in top 3 all time for me if he wasn't already. Actually insane
I've been waiting for this video since the night of the fight...
that was a great fight
10 minutes the 3rd and 4th DJ dominated
It is a shame DJ won't get the credit he deserves because he isn't a drama queen and act like a grown man..DJ no doubt top 3 to ever do it..
Wow god bless moreas I didn’t know that Chael my parents were great as well
Damn, I had no idea Volk was from NZ!
Very informative as always Uncle Chael
Yeah that win was fucking crazy. Dj is still a beast!
Thinking about it , if i had to Bet my House on one after watching the fight ...... id still have to put it on Morales ..... I know ..... sounds crazy. Even Thought DJ cut him , and mushed both eyes, then gassed him by the end of round 2 ( i paused this, then watched it) ........ Its the reach and size advantage Morales has that would worry me going 3rd time in ......
But if i had no bets , id be cheering on DJ all the way , but would i bet my house on him winning? ..... not agains Morales , that dude is legit. I hope they do 3 , and i hope DJ wins. Then he holds his GOAT status, hopefully with out any "buts....".
