Omg. I just noticed at 4:33 each idol set are holding up fingers corresponding to the game they were in. Squid Sisters are holding 1, off the hook is holding up 2, and deep cut are holding up 3. Thats such a fun little detail for the choreography!!
For the "in-lore" reason why, here's my idea: These three groups were _so_ good at idols they became the face of their society's main sport: Turf war and Pro. The *_First_* group, the Squid Sisters. The *_Second_* group, Off The Hook. The *_Third_* group, Deep Cut. These three were the only groups in-game (that we know of) that were decided to be the face of the news.

Personally, I loved the lyric "Ay, ay, ay, ay!" It really spoke to me. The whole meaning of it I couldn't comprehend, and even then I could clearly see how truly moving it was. Definitely as Deep a Cut as it should be, as this is now forever engraved into my brain. 10/10.

It sounds cheesy, but I grew up alongside the Inklings (in terms of numerical age, at least), and Splatoon as a series has been here throughout one of the darkest times of my life thus far, so to be able to participate in Grand Fest, recognize how far I’ve come, both IRL and with in-game skill and social experiences, and have it all capped off with Three Wishes was truly an emotional moment that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. (I was sobbing the first time I heard this song, seeing the performance live during Grand Fest gave me the same emotion, but even before the first verse was over, and now it’s a month later and I’m still sobbing every time I listen to it.) 🥹 thank you, Splatoon.

The Grand Festival was an awesome way to end Splatoon 3 have all 3 idol groups together and other characters such as Octavio and Acht in one huge area that wasn't Inkopolis Square, Inkopolis Plaza, or even Splatsville but rather in one huge area to celebrate the amazing legacy that Splatoon has had for over 9 years. I've had to take a few days to gather my thoughts on this because my god, this is just...amazing. Everyone's voices are just so damn good and match so well to each of the idols. My faves are certain Emily as Marina and Maiden as Shiver. But the lyrics are just...on another level. They just paint this absolutely beautiful love letter to Splatoon and really show off how much this game has meant to many different people. As one reviewer, can't remember which, said: The game grew up with the people playing it. It started off as the "Funny Kid Squid" game is 1, and in 3 you fight back against the remnant of a dead world in the main story, and Side Order goes slightly more toward Shin Megami Tensei of all things with Order. This song highlights the Nostalgia of it's past, the certainty of its present and the hope for it's future. Three Wishes was already a good song, but the Lyrics given to it I think add so much more.

I've had to take a few days to gather my thoughts on this because my god, this is just...amazing.
Everyone's voices are just so damn good and match so well to each of the idols. My faves are certain Emily as Marina and Maiden as Shiver.
But the lyrics are just...on another level. They just paint this absolutely beautiful love letter to Splatoon and really show off how much this game has meant to many different people. As one reviewer, can't remember which, said: The game grew up with the people playing it. It started off as the "Funny Kid Squid" game is 1, and in 3 you fight back against the remnant of a dead world in the main story, and Side Order goes slightly more toward Shin Megami Tensei of all things with Order.
This song highlights the Nostalgia of it's past, the certainty of its present and the hope for it's future. Three Wishes was already a good song, but the Lyrics given to it I think add so much more.
