Question: Will this work to fuse granules to 22k gold holding the granules in place without the need of hide glue and without the need to copper coat the granules?

Great question, Leslie. Our Jewelry Tech Team members have not tried it for that purpose. They suspect that the flux movement during the heating process may move the granules out of alignment. The members of our tech team typically use a mixture of copper carbonate and gum tragacanth.

How does this work on fine, and sterling, or does It?

Hello there! Thanks for asking. The Purple Flux also works great on most jewelry applications from low to high temperature soldering and brazing. It can be used with gold, silver, brass, bronze, nickel silver and other non-ferrous metals. Hope this helps!

What is the shelf-life of this flux? I have some from a year ago, and was wondering if it can still be used. Thank you.

I noticed the pieces were soaking in the purple flux. Does that effect the outcome?

Hi, how does this flux compare to My-T-Flux for sterling silver? Thanks!

HI Debbie, Thanks for your question. These two will perform relatively the same; however, the Purple Flux does not bubble quite as much, as you can see in the video. Thanks again for watching!

I’m just a learning and l am just working with brass and copper, I’m using brass solder and copper solder to join my peaces together but the colour of the solders never matches to the brass colour or copper it always looks silver, l have heard of not using solder at all to join metals together, is this what your product offers the non use of solder to make metals join?

Thank you for asking. The product shown here, Purple Flux, is being used with Argentium Silver. One of the properties of Argentium Silver is that it can be fused onto itself without the use of solder. You might enjoy this video about Argentium: www.riogrande.com/content/Soldering-And-Working-With-Argentium-Silver-VID-jpg Hope this helps!

This solution helps welding or welding using this solution only for welding the pieces together?

Hello there, The Purple Flux when used for fusing Argentium coats, dries, bubbles less and leaves a more uniform and cleaner surface on your work. Purple Flux also works great on most jewelry applications from low to high temperature soldering and brazing. Use with gold, silver, brass, bronze, nickel silver and other non-ferrous metals. Hope this helps!

In this video, the material used is Argentium, and the process used is called fusing. No solder is used in this process. Hope this helps!

Rio Grande is that because of the purple Flux or because this type of silver doesn't require flux?? I'm new to metalsmithing and confused now
