Gotta love Ale’s pick drop. When they posted this, I wonder if in their wildest dreams they thought that one day they would open for Muse nine times in Mexico and Europe. Whether you are a Muse fan or not, give them props for recognizing the immense talent of The Warning and helping introduce them to a legion of new fans. By the way, my vote goes to The Warning.

Is watching these ladies grow up and progress has been the highlight of my music following. Im 68 and worked as a stagehand in Detroit and ive never seen talent and work ethic and dedication like this. I LOVE this band. Of course. Social media now makes it a lot different. But I have never felt such a connection with a band like these girls. I can die happy now. I actually almost died in oct 2022 and The Warning was part of my year long recovery in 2023. I was mentally destroyed back in october 2023 dhen i discovered The Warning and they have been therapy for me. The funny thing is that their music genre is not even among my favorite, i am more of an 1970s/1980s moody electronic music man myself yet this group has been a breath of fresh air.

Even at such young ages, I think The Warning had great musical execution. Dany's voice is not yet mature here, and the vocal audio needs serious processing, but she made a valiant effort. Her piano and guitar work were fine. Ale and Pau never cease to amaze me with their accuracy. Muse? Yeah, I hear U2, The Police, and a bit of Traffic, (but not in a good way). Overall, I don't like the song and the live mix was weak. I'm not sure what The Warning saw in them (fashion? music?), but it must have been inspiring! They opened for them nine times, four dates in Mexico and five in the UK, at some really big shows. Matt Bellamy gave Dany a Manson guitar, so obviously, he appreciates them. The Warning are so dedicated to their craft that in 2024, I think they could take just about any music from any pop/rock/metal band and make it better. But thankfully, they're doing just fine with their own work! *S!CK* hit number 8 on some chart this week, their first top ten single. In my opinion, it's not even the best song on their new album! I wonder where *HYCAD* or *Automatic Sun* will land?

once bands get pretty large, like U2 did or like Muse did, their concerts start containing fewer songs and more artistic lead-ins, breakdowns and that kind of thing. The original radio and album versions are a lot more compact. Even The Warning has started occasionally using a longer outro on Dust to Dust (right song? just woke up), in some shows. Muse’s singer does have that Bono vocal sound, which adds to the song, but I have to say that I really do prefer Dany, Pau and Ale’s cover to this concert video- at least they’re playing and singing in time 🤣

From one grumpy Gen Xer to another...I've tried to get into Muse by checking out several of their songs and nothing reaches out to me. The same goes for U2, The Police, etc, as far back as the 80's. I was 12 when the Mighty Van Halen released their debut album in 1978 and that's how I spent my junior high and high school years...the energy, the huge sound, the attitude, and the late, great EVH! Does The Warning sound like Van Halen? Not at all. But these three sisters bring the same energy, huge sound, the attitude (not DLR-like attitude, thank goodness!), and a uniqueness that I've never heard before. Can I identify the influences in their music? Absolutely! But they are exceptionally unique! I've listened to other bands on YT attempting to cover TW and match Dany's vocals...it's like trying to watch someone cover classic VH...cannot be done. Similarly, when TW covers a song, they make it their own, and make it better...just like VH!

  • @YOU-HAVE-BEEN-WARNED
    @YOU-HAVE-BEEN-WARNED 16 днів тому +7

This is a very soft and slow song by Muse, but they have a lot to offer in terms of more energetic performances that sound nothing like U2. Matt Bellamy (the vocalist and guitarist) is the man who set the world record for the most guitars smashed on stage, and you can bet he didn't achieve it by playing soft rock ballads. They extend their songs live quite often by adding some heavy riff jams, sometimes even including snippets of songs by other bands. Muse's own influences range from Nirvana and Rage Against the Machine to Queen and Rachmaninoff, so their catalog is very diverse. They have some really out-of-this-world deep cuts in their discography, especially from back in the day, it's just the singles that are usually more poppy and predictable.
As for The Warning's cover, I find it really impressive given that the girls were so young. They were understandably nowhere near as tight as a band as they are now, especially with the vocals, though. For this reason, it's hard to compare this cover with Muse's original version. I bet Dany would crush those vocals if she were to perform this song today. And Pau was a drumming machine even back then, simply outstanding.

Both are 3 piece bands. Muse has a stadium sound and sounds like 4-5 musicians. That's what the 3 of them want. It's not necessarily the songs that are the model, but how the songs sound live. I've seen them 4 times now, once in a small room (Berlin23) and this year 3 times in bigger ones. They can easily create an atmosphere with their songs in any hall or stadium, no matter how big, and they sound perfect.

And maybe you should give The Warning and Muse more credit.
Two songs that you thought was great by DPA was co produced, and perhaps even written by Dan Lancaster who is also Muse producer and touring keyboard player for Muse.
Hell You Call A Dream and Automatic Sun is credited to Dan Lancaster for both songs.
Although many American fans like to say both songs draw inspiration from elsewhere. They have Muse all over them. I wouldn't be surprised if Dan Lancaster played keyboard on both songs.

The girls did an amazing job there for their age, but Muse was way better. You can't really compare young teenagers to seasoned musicians like Muse. Dani's singing has taken a huge leap since this video, and they are all much better musicians today, totally brilliant. But no way you can claim they were better at that age than Muse is today.
I've been a U2 fan for 40 years and Muse sounds nothing like U2. All the hype with U2 back in the day was because it was a new and fresh sound, new type of music. Same goes for Muse, it was new and fresh (I'm not a Muse fan, I don't listen to them much, but I recognize how good they are at what they are doing even though it doesn't fit my taste). And now the Warning is taking over with something new and fresh. Probably only a matter of time when U2 and Muse will open for them.

It's really fairly simple. You get the comments not because you dislike something. Most fan bases are good with you do you. It is you deliver them with snark and disdain for the band being reacted to. You also make sweeping judgements on one song instead of more of their body of work. I like watching your reactions, but you have the same world weary, sarcasm that is endemic in the restaurant business where I spent most of my working life.
I despise Kiss from the day I saw them on In Concert (72, 73?) when their stage show consisted of a police light flashing on the bass stack. This is pre-make-up days. I realize they are more a marketing organization than a band and they grew their fan base by appealing to 10- to 14-year-old boys. My point is if you respect the work and effort the band has put in, you can dislike anything and be respected for it. My opinion of Kiss is harsh, but it is reserved for people who also don't like the band, for fans I just get them talking about what they like and tell them, cool, not one of my favorites, but if you like them, it is good music to you which is all that matters.
Your honesty is good and quite refreshing, just try and dial down the snark.

Muse don't really have a genre so you would be missing out on judging them by one song. I suggest you listen to their harder stuff like :
    Stockholm Syndrome Glastonbury 2004
    Reapers Cologne 2015
    Assassin Mayan 2015
Kill or Be Killed any live performance
and definitely check out their most iconic one Knights of Cydonia ( Rome Olympic Stadium 2013)
I think you will see why The warning were heavily influenced by Muse and what they saw in them with these performances :)

The blind fanaticism is hilarious to me here and on video, i love The Warning they're one of my favorite bands, but this obviously doesn't compare to the original. And people saying that the cover is better is strange to me. Muse is a legendary band. I don't get why you would put a cover of a really young band too that's just starting out to play together against an already professional band in the recording, too. It's weird and unfair.

You could do a whole episode on covers of The Warning’s Evolve. Just for starters, there is a cover of Evolve by Freeze the Fall - the video that jump started them online! Tons of other mediocre bands covered it as well but I’m sure there are few gems to be found. But just a fun idea that a band that blew up from doing a cover, is now the band to cover!

I couldn't agree more about the U2 vibe which I don't like either but what's with the breathing he sounds like Brenda Vaccaro when she used to do the bra commercials only her voice is deeper. Those of us who are older know what I'm talking about and those who don't can look her up.

What i find strange is when people only have one - ONE - single taste and music and cant appreciate anything else. That is what is weird for me. I can appreciate Iron Maiden and Muse one right after the other regardless of their different styles and then i'll listen to jazz to classic music to Pink Floyd to electronic music like Vangelis or an Eminem rap tune and i can do that one after the other jumping from styles and genre without whiplash whatsoevet. Why? Because all i care is quality, not fidelity to genre. Christ, there's even R&B songs i can enjoy! To be stuck to one single genre or even a subgenre of music is a waste of life. The world is so vast!

Rob - you grumpy old man you 🤣
I've always said that art is subjective, personal. I like Muse. I don't love them but they are fairly decent. As for this track - 1st time I've heard it (and TW's cover btw). I didn't mind it but I've heard more Muse than you so I know what I'm getting into. This is the sort of track I might have in the background while reading, writing or drawing. And yes, I can hear U2 somewhere in the mix as well (I don't mind them either - please don't banhammer me). If that is not the sound you enjoy, then fine - you don't enjoy it. But as always, you're honest about it.
The Warning's cover was good. Pau's tribal beat (s) - outstanding (and she was very restrained on those drums vs her normal abuse 😄). Ale's bass - amusing as to how someone so tiny can handle something so monstrous with relative ease (notice her pick changes?). Dany - triple duty on keys, guitar and vocals - I love Dany (she could be standing there playing a 'triangle' and I'd be happy) so there's nothing more I can say there. Backing vocals were interesting - 2 completely different lines that fit well harmony wise. I enjoyed it - nothing else matters on that subject. I probably would have enjoyed it more without hearing the original - that doesn't mean I think TW's is better or worse, just easier to listen to (much the same way I feel about their Atlas Rise cover vs Metallica).
Thanks for posting and sharing your views - enjoyable as always mate. Cheers from OZ 🦘

About stage presence, well, Muse are english and The Warning are mexicans. What Muse shows on stage is the maximum flourushes permited by english bfhavior, ehile as mexicans The Warning are far more expressive because that's their culture (and even they have Alejandra who by mexican standards is positively shy).
