The Grimace shake is blueberry. A McDonald’s employee said it’s supposed to be blueberry muffin, but I think it is the vanilla ice cream that makes the “muffin” part. It’s very much a blueberry shake. 😋

@@Momoko524ao you must be young. Grimace is way older than the chicken nugget.
I very fondly remember when they were invented….they came in only a 6 piece at the time. My mom and I were driving from LBI, NJ home to northeastern PA. We went through the drive through and I got these new chicken McNuggets. Omg they were unlike anything that anyone had at the time. We got off the next exit and got another order to share. We thought 9 we’re the perfect amount and obviously we weren’t the only ones. So they started offering 6, 9 or 12 nuggets. Then changed over the years to 4, 6 or 10. Then they added other sauces too!! Not just BBQ. But they discontinued my fave dipping sauce, honey. 😢

As an ex-McDonald's employee, please don't ask for unsalted fries if you just want them fresh. If you ask for unsalted they have to assume that you have a no-sodium dietary requirement and have to not only cook a fresh batch, but also isolate and clean thoroughly a compartment of the fry station, ensure nobody uses it for the 3 minutes it takes to cook them, and then serve them. It's frustrating and just slows down service for the whole team. If you want fresh fries, just ask. We were required to do so if a customer asks.... I've had this happen and later the person asked for salt while a queue of 10 people accumulated.
    EDIT:
I didn't expect this comment to blow up, but just to clarify a few things and answer some common responses.
    1. "Why go to McDonalds if you have a no/low-sodium diet?" Well as an employee that was none of my business. It was not my job to question how others live their lives or what they eat. However, if the only information we're given is "unsalted, please" we have to assume it's a dietary requirement because it's safer to assume it is than to assume it's not.
    2. "But I like my fries less salted or without salt." - Then ask for that. I'm not saying you can't ask for unsalted fries. But if it's not a dietary requirement, it helps save time and unnecesary work for the employees if you communciate that.
    3. "But I worked at McDonalds and we didn't do that." - You should have. That's corporate protocol, but not all (and I would say most) McDonald's follow all protocols. For example, where I worked we were supposed to throw out uneaten burgers every 15-20 mins. We didn't, we just changed the timers.
    4. There were quite a few rude respones. Really unnecessary, guys. Let's try keep Emmy's channel and comment section clean and polite.

As a person with allergies, it makes McDonald's employees lazy when people do stuff like this. I have a strawberry allergy. I always state I have a strawberry allergy. If I'm getting a smoothie or a shake, I only go inside to order those now, so that I can say specifically, "I am very allergic to strawberry, so the blender needs to be washed thoroughly for my smoothie/milkshake" and watch them wash it. I've received two contaminated smoothies too many and both were in drive-thrus. From the same McDonalds at that. It ended up being a big situation with corporate, and I believe several employees ended up losing their jobs as a result of my two separate hospital trips.

I’ve worked fast food and fries have a very short shelf life, usually just a few minutes. That means we’re constantly making fries and we have to throw out fries that have sat out, literally only a few minutes. You can always request fresh fries. Special requests, except in the cases of allergies or dietary restrictions, can be a big hassle for the kitchen and slow down not just you but everyone else and then no one is happy. Plus as someone mentioned, it may make some of the not so great employees become lazy or annoyed so they take special restrictions less seriously. Sucks but it’s the truth.

I’ve heard that if you eat the Grimace shake with McDonald’s fries, the flavor of the shake changes. (Tasting the shake before fries, it tastes like vanilla. After eating fries, it has more of a berry flavor)

Thank you for your honest reaction. I live in Australia and the Grimace shake isn't sold here. And every tasting video of someone trying the Grimace shake is just the collapsing after it meme. But nice to know that it takes like grapes and birthday cake. I can imagine that flavour.

Yall, the salt comment is not accurate. How are they going to isolate and clean thoroughly a section of the oil machine if they don’t change out the oil, the oil will still have residue or salt 🧂 from other fries and they aren’t gonna isolate your unsalted fries in fresh oil cuz that’s food costs and costs way more than your request for unsalted Fries Loll. I worked at McDonald’s for 3 years (first job) and yes it takes extra time but you can pull the customer up if the line is getting long or backed up. Stop with the bullshit.

If you ask for unsalted fries, you're looked at as a big dirtbag by the staff, because they have to stop everything they're doing to drop a new batch of fries,
then clean out the curreny fry basket, and scoops of salt in order to serve you and only you, fries without salt.
As someone who has worked food service before, I guarantee you, everyone wearing a radio groans when they hear the words "no salt".
"And then you ask for a side of salt" and there you go. 😒
That is just asking for special mayo.
