    I heard HPL wrote this for St.Patrick's day. There was a gathering of other authors that day. I'd be interested to know who the other authors were and if they wrote any stories for the holiday.

    I always love reading or listening to this story. The image of what was found, especially the description of the ruins and its architecture, has always astounded me.

    Well read! This is one of the more "normal" horror stories Lovecraft wrote but it's quite excellent nonetheless.

    Kilderry is an actual town (Kilderry is located in County Kerry, Ireland, on the N70 National secondary road between Milltown and Killorglin.). Wikipedia /forebears.io/ireland/leinster/kilkenny/kilderry

    Ah, so that is why I forgot it. The locale was fantastic, the plot was tense, the mystery fascinating and it ends... with frogs. A bit underwhelming, and perhaps overexplained.

      Omg I am so excited - RW Chambers is one of my absolute favorites! I’m a medievalist, and I have worked on MR James and especially Tolkien. Chambers is so brilliant and has been so neglected (until fairly recently)
