We live about 15 minutes from Bridgeville - down 404 on the Maryland side. And this storm was the most wicked one we’ve had! Extremely scary! Lightening struck the pole at our house that the transformer sits on. It struck one of our electrical outlets in our house causing sparks to fly! Thank GOD the surge protector did it’s job! Great footage you have here! Thanks for sharing!

I live in New Jersey and I remember learning about this storm. It struck portions of South Jersey once it exited Delaware. This is insane as monster type storms like this one only tend to occur out in the plains and are NOT really associated with the east coast. The worst and most memorable thunderstorm that I experienced here in New Jersey occured roughly 12 years ago now on September 16th 2010. That storm went on to produce two tornadoes in NYC in both Brooklyn and Queens. Two people were killed by those storms that day. I will never forget that event.

Years ago...like earlier 2000's, we got some good ones. I used to video them from north of the city...south side of Lake Simcoe. Still have them on video. Then, it seemed the weather patterns changed and a lot of these storms passed well to the west and north...heading towards and around Thunder Bay, etc. The ones that do move in towards us from the west tend to weaken a lot as the pass over land, not that I'd want another derecho experience like we had in 2022. However, I'd absolutely love it if we could get a few light shows like that!

Where some scientists say it's climate change & other scientists say it's the natural way this planet always has been. It goes thru cycles. It's unfortunate that most cell phones/dash cams can't handle the sudden brighness of lightning flashes, resulting in those lines appearing across the screen. Back in 2012, I had an iPhone and it performed amazingly well. I videoed a storm with constant bright lightning, heavy rains and large hail... not a line to be seen. I was on the motorcycle so it was, to say the least, a memorable event... It was my first smart phone and I assumed all phone cameras would be just as good. I've had Samsungs since then (prefer Android) and I was disappointed with the cameras in all of them until I got the S23 Ultra in 2023. It seems to not have this issue. More sophisticated cameras work better. My old Canon G10 doesn't have that problem. That was one absolutely amazing storm catch. You caught some great stuff there. Thanks for posting!!

I always wonder what it would be like to be out on a long bike ride or training for a marathon and ending up in a location like this only to have a dangerous, violent storm come in too fast to find shelter. What do people do if they’re out and a hailstorm occurs before they can find cover? I live in California so we very, very rarely have storms like this, although it was multiple dry lightening strikes that started the many wildfires that are still burning. That was evidently a once in a decade event, although I don’t remember it happening before in the 34 years I’ve lived here. In San Francisco we are still having days of smoke that significantly affect our air air quality. It’s hard to complain when I know I’m probably breathing in smoke that’s come from someone’s house that burned. Otherwise our weather is extremely boring.

We get several storms with lightning like that here in the Midwest. Especially early in the spring.

Michael Limberg in the northeast where I live, we definitely do not get storms like that!! Lately we hardly get any decent lightening storms. So disappointing.

Donna Brulato That is a bummer, because lightning makes for a good show sometimes. I am in rural Iowa we see the storm coming for many miles. The thunder sounds like it rolls forever.

Commenting 5am SUN 9/6/20...SIMPLY AWESOME..on the amazing incredible Tornado Alley-like lightning barrage and tornadic wall clouds hown here...along with tons of CGs and tearing thundercrashes....this is MY kind of video..big time.. Just like that amazing Troy Grove IL lightning barrage video from 6/22/16..which I have also seen, added to my ''liked videos'' and having put the thunder onto audiotape.... BTW..get this...9/3/20..the day of this amazing Tstorm video here....was smack on the very 50th anniversary of the largest USA hailstone ever..in Coffeyville KS on 9/3/70...it was almost the size of a basketball...I bet you and many 10 of 1000s of viewers and 298 commenters didn't even know this.. heeheee..but I have......and exactly 3 years ago today...here in southern RI..I videotaped/uploaded a nice Tstorm video..from 9/6/17... it is on my channel here....lotsa lightning and few good closeby crashes. One last thing..I was watching on radar and the BLSCs chart when this amazing tornadic-Tstorm was unfolding over DC and Philly THU evening 9/3/20.....and surely enough..you got the same awesomed MCS complex.....Hope you like my manuscript here... heeheee... Fondly...James, LuvsTstormTapes..southern RI((my real good UA-cam-Tstorm buddy, tommythunderhead, from Walpole NH sent me this amazing video via Email..bless him..!!!))
