For me it's not about him deserving it. It would of been a far more consistent and appropriate series, if they allowed the character they started with Miguel to become the next karate kid. It's doesn't feel right and it kinda takes back what those first episodes facilitated.

Having Miguel be the one to me empowered that Ying yang effect between Johnny and Daniel and brought everything full circle much better. I just don't understand it from an artist angle.

If the writers dont end Robbys arc by fighting a death match like Daniel vs Chozen in 1985, then they never understood who Mr Miyagi really was and what he stood for, since Robby Lawrence-Keene is his direct lineage student. And Jacob Bertrand, as much I like him and his character Hawk, is a jokester and prankster. Before S5 came out he said Hawk is gonna die. Did he die? No. Jacob "warned" people Martin Kove gives the most spoilers from all, before him it was Tanner Buchanan. But Jacob usually never spoils very much. Its the same with the show creators. They usually say A and B or C is the truth. Josh Heald said Torys mom died on natural causes (her illnes), which makes me put my money she was killed. Sure anything can happen. But we will see. I wouldnt be surprised this scenario that Robby will get badly hurt by Kwon, Kwon gets DQed, and the final is Axel vs Miguel could become true. And Robby is the one in part 3 who gets his death match with Kwon. The way how Tanner described Robbys currents state is that Robby wont win, he is in a bad place. And when he said it, Peyton List looked very sad, like she feels this sad thing is Torys fault. Lets wait and see. But Jacob isnt like Marty Kove. If he would have said this, I would by it.
I think Robby will have a similar arc like Alex in Best of the Best movie. In the movie Alex shoulder got injured but still finished the fight. But I think in Cobra Kai Robby will get injured as well and Miguel will take his place as Captain. Alex had a ponytail in the movie and at the end of Season 6 episode 5 you can see Robby rockin a ponytail too

For me they kinda ruined the show by not letting miguel carry that next karate kid legacy after what they facilitated with him in the first episodes. Image if the third karate kid movie had brought back Johnny Lawrence and had him be the one to beat mike barnes at the end of the movie and then have him become the main protagonist of the first three movies. It just doesnt feel right and I think it was a bad decisions no matter how others or the actors themselves feel about it.
