Yes it does, if you only gently push down it will turn very slow actually. Great question!! I may have missed that in the review, so I appreciate you asking very much!! 💪🏻🙏🏻
@@TheToughGuysTV I saw how much play there was when you demonstrated the light and with what the remaining trigger pull looked like I thought it may be a 0-100 real quick kinda thing. How has it held up?
So far so good! I dropped one of the batteries on concrete really hard the other day, and barely a scratch. It feels great honestly! Only one time I had the chuck come a little loose when I was drilling a ton of holes, but my old Ridgid does that after basically ever use so... still doing 1,000x better. Not perfect, but very close in my opinion especially for the price on this thing! 👍🏻
skil stands behind their products....I have their 10" miter saw had an issue with it after 3 months of owning...when I called I expected them to tell me to take it to a service center to be looked at, but nope they express shipped me a new one :). I will buy skil in confidence after that.
Thanks for the feedback!! Much appreciated! I really to try to push the limits and show what I think of the tools. I’ve got the orbital sander and impact driver videos up as well if interested. Should have the jigsaw done soon as well! Thanks for the support 🙌🏻
I like their 12 Volt line of tools. II bought the multitool, impact driver, drill driver, right angle impact driver, and a radio. Very well made tools.
Thanks for the comment!! So far I've loved this 20v lineup the same way - durable, dependable and the batteries have held up amazingly well. Thanks for checking out the video!
Dang..Skil figured out what Makita and Dewalt and Milwaukee can't..they put the light in the right place! I returned the black makita because of the shadow on the work area
Same for me, it’s a great multi-use drill, and I’ve been hard on mine. Still going strong! Check out BitMag, it’s an awesome add on - I’ve got a review on the channel, can’t live without it 👍🏻
I agree!! Mine is beaten up now but still going strong. The battery tech still surprises me - longevity and power it’s pretty awesome! Thanks for checking out the video!
My Bostitch drill and impact set got stolen a few months back (cant pick your family) got them at pawn shop for 60 bucks 5 years ago. Anyways I got this for my birthday recently brushed motor with the basic charger 20-volt. It does what I needed it to do I underestimated it a little bit. Had to replace six 8ft 5/4in pieces for a porch. Did good with deep deck screws drove 48 of them all nice and snug still had almost a full battery.
The battery tech is shared with their pro line FLEX and EGO outdoor equipment...same maker ...I'm also impressed as I'd luv to get FLEX but budget just doesn't allow it. Maybe this year ( still be able to get lifetime warranty) if business goes well. But I'm liking SKIL so far.
just came home with a 12v combo kit, really like it.I own lots of the best tools but the new skill stuff is from Chevron, they make Flex tools also that I think r the best,I have a good amount of Flex tools.
Bought the newer version of this hammer drill last year. Strongest cordless I’ve ever owned. Motor doesn’t work hard on concrete or brick - chews right through. I’ve slowly begun replacing my DeWalt, Makita, and Craftsmen with this system as a result of my experience with the hammer drill. I have the 5ah battery. A real workhorse.
Good choice in my opinion - Although I’ve not tested the 12v line I assume it’s the same solid build quality and battery life. Good luck with yours and thanks for watching the video!
I saw that Lowe’s is carrying a smaller version of the PWRCore line now, not sure on in stock or not but I saw a display in store which was cool! We are in Dallas TX 💪🏻
btw if flashes like that because it stops the battery from overloading itself "If the tool and/or battery pack are overloaded, the LED worklight will rapidly flash" that's a quote from the safety manual. Edit: Also I know its been like 2-3 years so you probably know by now, But maybe people reading comments wanna know. The first 25% of the batter is charged at a faster pace then the last 75%, so you can throw it on the charger and get 25% batter in 5mins.
That’s a tough question - I don’t have personal experience with Milwaukee or Makita in the recent past. I did when I was younger, but not in at least 7-8 years. What I’d say is this: pick your top 3 / top 5 needs and then check them off. For me, the Skil hits a few major points (the impact driver too just FYI) - Low Cost, Good Warranty, Good Power, Battery life is AMAZING, and Good LED light placement / brightness.
No the Milwaukee and Makita are professional tools. These skills are definitely homeowner. If you have the budget a Makita and Milwaukee or higher end Hitachi(now metabo hpt or hikoki depending on country) those will all massively outperform and outlast these. A good way to tell if it's aiming for the pro market or homeowner is when they start coming with like 3+ amp hour batteries for drills. I like the 5 amp hour but if I'm doing only a few things here and there I take my 3 amp hour.
A company Chevron or such bought the skill saw and skill name. A brought this line out. I hate it's not u.s. but feedback has been pretty good. Last year skilsaw was lower in quality then and had been. I had to replace a 20 plus year old circular saw and was disappointed. I went dewalt 60v and it's been great and u.s. made. That being said Milwaukee and dewalt seemed to take off away from makita etc. And skill was down with black and decker. I'd like to see them up there and see makita getting more love. Because competition benefits the user and buyer. I'm just disappointed the 77 wormdrive is considered the saw that built America but not made here... but glad to see the brand trying to come back. And so far most reviews seem good, maybe I can buy a 77 and have some hope or newer guys can buy a decent line at decent price. Its sad that i got batteries that cost more then the tools and you get locked in.
Charles Herring with the batteries that’s how I’ve been locked in with Ridgid, and over time their stuff has fallen off for me. One problem after another.. with Skil I’ve been very happy with their stuff. Especially the driver and the orbital sander as well. Both have held up very well and I’m hard on my tools. Thanks for watching and for reaching out!
Thanks Thomas!!! Much appreciated! Just going to keep focusing on doing projects I love and delivering good reviews - Thanks for the feedback and the support! 💪🏻
Great video buddy! Looks like a great tool! I have a couple of skill power tools aswell. Maybe i go for this one to now my Ryobi gearing starts to make noice a bit!
I personally don't own a few different brands, so it's difficult for me to provide you honest feedback in that regard. I have used Ridgid and Dewalt both extensively, although older models. I can comment directly on how I use the SKIL driver and impact driver, and both take a beating and keep after it. I've not had any major issues. I wish they both had built in bit storage, but I solved that with my BitMags ua-cam.com/video/U4ajwmDX-nU/v-deo.html. The battery life has been consistently good, even with heavy use, hot or cold weather, always reliable. I recently tested out their outdoor lineup too, and so far same consistency in battery, ergonomics / weight, durability etc.
Once you’ve run it dead it’s dead though. It can happen. If I wait a bit, and try and it’s still not working, I’d say it’s time to charge. Plus it’s got those nifty lights that hopefully tell you the charge level. ✌🏻
This PWRCore 20 series is amazing so far. I’ve got the Orbital Sander, the Jigsaw and the Drill Driver and Impact Driver. Battery charges in less than 30mins. I’ve got videos coming soon on all the other items too! 👍🏻
It’s not too bad! I’m still using this same drill, works well! Only issue I’ve had is the chuck sometimes comes loose, but not all the time. Thanks for watching!
I have used the Bosch error skill before Chevron took over the brand and this is way better build quality and power of course kobalt is made by the same company you were mentioning issues Ridgid with your Chuck did you have it registered with a LSA warranty I haven't had an issue with my chuck I don't know if they need the whole entire drill to fix the chuck when they send you a new chuck in the mail cuz that's a question I want to ask them cuz I don't want to void my warranty by installing a Jacob's Chuck like the one on the skill brand you got that's more busier than the one that comes on the Ridgid 5 foot that on I would have zero issues like you described I had an issue like that with my last Ridgid gen 4 x and decided it wasn't worth the warranty so I pulled the trigger around the holidays in 2018 grab that $79 deal home Depot had what is might be an option for me if I do run into any issues in the future thank you for sharing
Thank you!! Ridgid says I need to drop it by a service center, definitely need to do it still. I’ve had that drill for at least 8 years, it’s been solid other than batteries and the chuck. I really love the skil lineup right now, and I’ve got videos coming on the jigsaw and the impact driver as well. Thanks!!!
Still my daily use drill! Thing has taken an absolute beating too, I’m planning a follow up video for this one and the impact driver - I’m super impressed by the batteries as well. All around awesome!
I do not believe they are interchangeable. I recently got a flex drill driver but to be honest I’ve not tried to swap them. Will circle back if that works
It has a setting to put it in 'drilling' mode, but no hammer mode that I'm aware of. I'm actually not sure if Skil makes a hammer drill, but that would be a good addition to their line up if not. Thanks for watching and for reaching out!
Not sure I follow exactly, but yes there is a Hammer Drill feature on this drill. You just turn the torque adjustment all the way around to that setting. That is how I had it set when I was drilling. Thanks!
when did u ever see a 2 amp battery with that kind of quality...........never that's when.If u really want too be impressed check out the Flex batteries
I recently snagged a flex driver as well, been using it for a month or two, going to do a full review on it once I’ve known it a little better. So far, the only downside is the weight with the Flex tools. I realize that it probably equates to build quality BUT, the Skil line is light weight and always has been a power house for me, so I’m not totally sold that the heaviness must = build quality. Time will tell
Does it very in speed depending on how far the trigger is pressed?
Yes it does, if you only gently push down it will turn very slow actually. Great question!! I may have missed that in the review, so I appreciate you asking very much!! 💪🏻🙏🏻
