    You have finally discovered Britains best kept musical secret !! these guys are simply the best in the business and the marillion weekends are just brilliant. Live versions of pretty much anything - but Great Escape, Invisible Man, Ocean Cloud, Easter, This Strange Engine are a must and anything from their extraordinary Royal Albert Hall shows are wonderful.

    What a great choice 🥰❤️
    I think Marillion and their singer Steve Hogarth is one of the most underrated bands ever.
    Steve joined the band in late 80‘s and replaced „Fish“…so today their fans are separated in those who like Fish more and those who love Steve. That battle is a little bit sad as both are great performers and both deserve more respect from the particular other side 😢

    • @naflemac2
      @naflemac2 5 місяців тому

      Underrated? In prog circles Marillion is top of the game band. They cleared the way for other neo-prog groups like Iq, Pendragon and Arena.

    • @Yesquire0
      @Yesquire0 5 місяців тому

      @@naflemac2 Be that as it may, the percentage of music-lovers who chose prog as their go-to sub-genre has been a tiny sliver since about 1979 or so. I could walk up to a 1,000 people at a mall here in the USA and ask them about Marillion, Pendragon, and Arena, and only a handful would reply with anything other than "I've never heard of them".

    Please don't apologize for honest feelings, watching couples react to this is a treat!❤ The song has done its. job. I love people becoming aware of Marillion. Steve Hogarth is the second singer in their history, and some are divided by the first singe Fish and Steve's tenure. They are still active and recording. The latest album "An Hour Before Dark" has one song that really hits me like "Neverland", called "Care". Being from a family that is all medical workers. Great band! Peace & Love

    Oh boy. If you like this, there is a lot to discover. Maybe ‘ Estonia’ (live) next? By the way: Marillion’s singer used to be a guy called Fish. You might have heard him sing the Marillion song ‘Kayleigh’. For many he is the one and only frontman of Marillion. He left a long time ago and this current singer is Steve Hogarth. They are very very different and I love them both. I guess the Fish era was a bit more avant garde music.

    Ahhhh, you guys... you're so lovely. Can't believe I've been watching your videos for all these months and this is the first time you've listened to my favourite band! This is one of their most transcendent, emotional songs - but they're an emotional, transcendent band. Give The Space (live at the Royal Albert Hall) a go - they've got classical musicians, including a string quartet playing with them there. The Great Escape, Ocean Cloud, Out Of This World - all gorgeous. For one off their latest record, try Care - it's an incredibly moving tribute to the medical professionals who saved all our bacon in the pandemic, and it rarely leaves a dry eye in the house. You won't find a live version of that, but the full song is on Marillion's own UA-cam channel.

    Nice :-) Steve Rothery is perhaps the only other guitarist who shares Dave Gilmour's ability to channel raw emotion through his instrument and play in a "less is more" style where it's not all about speed and showing off, but about creating a beautiful soundscape; more generally, Marillion are superb musicians each and every one of them and well worth checking more of their output - I recommend The Great Escape for example and one of my favourites, Out of this World

    @angelkar5132 7 місяців тому +9

    Ahhh finally Marillion! I knew it was a must for you since I saw you react to Pink floyd for the first time 😁 And it makes pretty much sense to get emotional with such songs.
    Btw Steve Rothery is probably the closest guitarist to David Gilmour with the sweetest guitar tone I've ever heard, every note 100 Kg of honey in my ears.
    They are full of long or stuck masterpieces with wealthy keyboard/guitar sound and beautiful vocals.
    Misplaced childhood is their No1 famous album and an absolute masterpiece with songs like pseudo silk kimono/Kayleigh and blind curve. Some other songs I would recommend you listen at least a few of them are forgotten sons, fugazi, script of a jester's tear, jigsaw, the web and ocean cloud.
    But really, if you get time to relax and listen the whole Misplaced childhood album it's worth it.

    • @derechtenorden2410
      @derechtenorden2410 7 місяців тому

      But it is important to know that Misplaced Childhood is a masterpiece under their 1st singer Fish.
      When Steve Hogarth joined Marillion in the late 80s their style changed and they developed the Progressive Rock style further and further over the years. Until today they released many other masterpiece albums like Season‘s End, Brave, Marbles, F.E.A.R. and their latest 2022 album An Hour Before It‘s Dark, just to name a few.
      So there‘s such a lot more stuff to discover 🤗

      @@derechtenorden2410Well if I have to be fully honest, Marillion song=masterpiece always or almost always, but I wrote examples according a combination of general popularity, history's and personal preferences.
      I think their peak was with Fish, but anyone has their preferences so doesn't really matter. Anyway they listened to a great song with Hogarth, it's worth to listen to Fish as well 😁

    when this resonates with you - and it will at some point - it will blow your mnd. This is like Marillion's answer to Comfortably Numb.
    the second half... the "Wendy Darling, in the kitchen with your dreams..." Hogarth claims this is Peter Pan based wordplay, but.... I think he's being rather tongue in cheek. It depends on how you read it and interpret it and personally.... I cant watch it without it moving me to tears. Its always resonated, every word of it... and once you get that connection with the music.... it will blow your mind.

It was magical at times, even in the rehearsals in the damp smelly basement... Those were the days! Because the material is just great. Of course, I was fortunate, to be in a really great band. The "Neverland" reference is a concise way to describe the longing to return to an era when you and your woman were both far younger and your life together was filled with wonder, excitement, and adventure. The two of you are old enough to have moved on to those years when your lives have become a bit of a repetitive grind filled with work and the effort needed to maintain a home, and the young love you felt has matured into an essential partnership devoted to maintaining a good life for each other, but maybe one which no longer has that sense of excitement and wonder. The second part is not really about escaping. It is about the importance of never forgeting those earlier years and the passion that came with them, never feeling like a stack of dirty dishes and a kitchen sink is all that your life has evolved into.
    From my own perspective and life experience, I think it is the wife who is more inclined to drift into that emotional hole where she thinks her life has been a disappointment due to choosing the wrong man to marry, and the lyrical invitation to fly away to Neverland is a shorthand plea to her to pull herself out of that black hole and return to happier times. Similarly, it is all too easy for the husband to take his wife for granted. I love how Marillion writes love songs for older couples whose problems reflect how the reality of life's hardships impacts a relationship.

    Hello you two! I haven't watched you for a while now, having followed your Nightwish and Ayreon reactions. I can't believe that you are finally reacting to my favourite band! Amazing. This song was written in 2004 and appears on their 'Marbles' album. The lead singer Steve Hogarth (known as h) has married a Polish lady and the band regularly visit Poland, specifically Lodz for their annual Conventions. l was at their very first Convention in 2002 in England, and while I never travel abroad, the Bnad go to Port Zeland in The Netherlands, Montreal over in Canada and (as I mentioned) Lodz in Poland. Like Genesis, the band has had a change of singer, and a change of sound. Unlike the Phil Collins-fronted Genesis which became radio-friendly and (frankly) a bit 'poppy', Marillion has always stayed close to it's roots and became an independent artist way back in 1999. Steve Hogarth joined the band in 1989, so he is still the new boy! Lol.I am so pleased that you loved this song. It is of course a play-on-words referencing Peter Pan, and his love-affair with Wendy. h sings (while flying) "But when you're gone, I neverland" So grateful to you both. Much love to you ober there in Romania. Take care

    After watching a reaction to Pink Floyd the other day I was trying to remember all the great British bands and I was astonished at how many there have been over the years, especially since the 60s.
    I know I can't remember them all because I wasn't born until 1962.

    Well, finally someone has reacted to both Marillion and Aurora, my two favourite contemporary (as well as past) artists. Even with a thirty-fourty year gap between the two, I feel they tap into the same vein of musical honesty and uncompromisingly being themselves. This might be what prevents both from reaching universal stardom, as that is not what the crass commericalism of the music industry seeks in order to turn a quick buck. But as long as Marillion and Aurora turn hearts first, money second, I couldn't care less. They own my musical heart, and my life is all the better off for them being around - Marillion since my teens in the mid-80s, Aurora joining them to light up my middle years.
    Thank you both for reacting to this!

    Fish was the firts Marillion vocal...! but the Steve Hogarth era is the BEST!! you need to try with "The Space" live from Albert Hall...!!

    Aaarrrr! Ma rill e on is how you say it hopefully. 👍misplaced childhood is my favourite album of their's with the Scottish singer Fish. Cant complain about the new marillion, but as a 59 year old prefer Fish.

    Only one of many many important and wonderful epic songs….
    For example:
    Care
    The crow and the nightingale
    The Space
    Seasons End
    Ocean cloud
    Gaza( it’s not political)
    Invisible man
    The new kings
    Now I stop😊
