Spark Award 2020 - Snappy: Fast blockchain payments with practical collaterals

The Spark Award 2020 of ETH Zurich stands for the most promising invention, which was filed for a patent in 2019. The presented technology is among the top 5 nominees.
The video features the work of Professor Srdjan Capkun, Aritra Dhar, Dr. Kari Kostiainen, Karl Wüst and Vasilios Mavroudis from the Department of Computer Science. The presented technology offers a solution to faster payments with cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum. The proposed protocol (Snappy) bridges the waiting time, which is inherent to blockchain transactions, so that the customer does not experience any inconvenient delay at the check-out.
