      Right On Replicas. You know what's real scary about this "classic kit" ? I'M DRIVING A 1980 FORD Ranger, with a long bed, 4x4 just like this kit! My everyday driver. It's one of the newer trucks I've ever owned! Don't know wether to laugh or cry! Great looking build, wish mine was a stepside.

      @squach623 !!!!! Now it’s scary, I own and daily drive a 1980 F-150 Ranger, single cab, long bed, 4 wheel drive with the 351M V8 and C6 auto transmission. It’s the one in my profile pic.

    Looks great Doug! I'm really enjoying your reviews keep them coming.
    One question with this one, could you install the sunroof from the inside so that it sits flush with the body or is that how the real trucks are? (We don't see many in Australia)

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  7 років тому +1

      Ben - I don't know for sure but it seems that the early factory sunroofs were high like that although this one seems a tad too high from what I remember. They were not internal panels like today's sunroofs. They were add on units that either flipped up in the rear or were fixed in place back then. -Doug

      '80-92 are all the same trucks just the body style changed in '86. I have this kit which is a representation of a 80-81 F150. To make my '82 I will have to rob parts from not only the Bronco kit but also a 91 F series kit to get the parts I need to make it proper.

    I work on these trucks a lot, and some of the stuff in this kit (just bought this today) is way out of scale, the headers are waaaay to big, the front shock buckets are tiny, and the spare tire underneath???!!

      Gis - You're right about the kit deficiencies - thanks for the tips! -Doug

      Yep the Styling of that Under Truck Dpwre isn't Right. It looks like it's got the Vinyl or Plastic cover zeith would be used in a Bed located side mount Dpwte or one hlthst might be mounted to a bed side mount to tailgate center hinged m latch unit
      The under truck tire Carrier was a Stamped Metal bracket humped in Center to use backside of Rim as locataor
      LMC Truck has pics of them

  • @rickbeam2325
    @rickbeam2325 5 років тому +1

    Kits Instructions now are Revised my kit shows bed sides Correct
    However my kit has Rear Leaf Springs w Locator tanlbs that day not match the Frame I Slotted the Holes n then filled the new void Spots
    Instruction leave a lot to be Desired as far as Clarity of Assembly location of Transfer case
    Builders need to be Warned about Removal of the Half of Transfercase with the Case to Frame locstir glue tab
    Also there needs to be arrows at Frame n tip of Transfer case for the frame Rail secondary attaching point on the Frame n Case
    My Radiator Support I had to do extra work on for it to go nicely on
    Rather than Detail paint the Grille Used 220 Grit Wet/Dry Glued to Craft Stick then slowly Sanded/milled away 2/3 rds of grilles thickness which opened the Rectangles so Radiator Support paint n Radiator are seeabke thru grille
    This modificstion does require extra work for fine tuning Grilles fitment but it's worth it
    Between the Various fiddley n Finicky Spots including possible ugly Rear Cab seem if putty umisnt used
    I'd Recommend beginners not try this kit unless assisted by a skilled builder

      @@RightOnReplicas you're Welcome Doug I'm part way there the build at 5 days n huge # of hours of TLC on making this kit a Decent n Fun Diorama What if Build "Santa's Reindeer Got sick or Went On Strike" as a Emergency Delivery Express Pickup
      Later I will be Building copies of My Truck I had and My Fiancees Ford too in 2010/11. Mine was a 84 F150 STD cab long box 2wd hers Wes 84 F250 STD cab long box 2 wd. Parked together it looked like A Ford Commercial
      When I next do this kit I'll Do a inbox Review and then Do a Build n Tips video on this kit
      Our kits are a Starting point I'm glad we have them but this old tool has some to be Desired.
      Perhaps if Revell was Approached right by a few of us skilled builders they'd revise n update parts of this Tooling
      The spare tire isn't Right I'm considering Scratch building a Correct under Spare Carrier and using one of kits original Wheels n Tires to make a copy Casting For just Enough Detail for under the Truck
      LMC Truck has Great pics in their catalog of parts on these trucks in Excellent Detail
      I'm thinking of Trying to use a Scale Photocopy of the Speedometer to Glue into Dash
      The ingraving was too shallow n poor to use my Special n fast Gauges Detail Trick
      I'll be Hanging that rear cab seam later to day I use 3M Bondo Glazing putty instead of Green Squadron it's far cheaper n works Excellent. I also just found a new Short Cut trick that works with it Too. Happy Building Walt Ronk...

      Bot, The recent re-pops by Revell are standard kits but they used to make great transition kits that were easy to build like the 2014 Corvette Stingray 1:25 #85-4350. The Revell Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 1:25 85-4501 is also a pretty easy build. PS - please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
