This is the canon ending of MK: Deception (as stated by Netherrealms studios) and no, (Dark) Raiden does not kill Shujiknko either. Shujinko dies in the battle of Armageddon, along all other Kombattants. In the end only Raiden and Shao Kahn remain and Kahn wins (as shown in MK 9 intro).
That is of course until Raiden goes back intime sending messages to his past self warning of the coming destruction years later defeating shao kahn of course for every action a reaction.
Cameron Brown True. Whether Shujinko will appear or not in the new timeline I do not know... he was not a very popular character as I recall. In the original timeline Raiden did "zapp" Shujinko, but did not kill him. However now Shao Kahn is dead or sealed away by the Elder Gods, hence might never return. I do hope the story evolves in a different way than in the original timeline... it's a good occasion for innovation.
He wasnt was he..I found his story to be fascinating though starting out a no more than a common warrior training at the temple of like but gradually becoming indirectly responsible for the Onagas resurrection and the destruction of earthrealm. But he did undue mistake I hope the story unfolds differently and for the better also.
Cameron Brown I think the problem with Shujinko was that he was kind of crap as a fighter (bad combos...) especially until you unloked his supermoves. After that, since he had the best supermoves from more popular characters (Sub Zero freeze, Scorpion harpoon, etc) he felt a bit like a cheap Shang Tsung, gameplay wise. Hotaru suffered the same problem: he was mainly hated for the gameplay rather the character himself. Also both Shujinko and Taven (in Armageddon) are made the stars of the games just after being introduced out of the blue. These was quite awkward and made them look like Liu Kanng wannabes and that displeased many fans (Liu Kang fans wanted him back and those who did not like Liu Kang wanted their favorite character as the star, certainly not some newbie). I would say that as characters Shujinko and Taven are both OK, they were just introduced in a very awkward way... I actually grew to like Taven a lot after Konquest mode in Armageddon. -- I do not know about Shujinko, but Taven and Daegon are hinted in the ending of Takeda and Kenshi in MK X (where they free Taven and go fight the Red Dragon)... so perhaps they will be brought back. I think they should give Shujinko another chance as well, the character in itself has a lot of potential... maybe give him his own set of moves.
Hmmm, if Shujinko did what exactly/precisely on or to Shao Kahn ... and why would Shao Kahn even think about destroying such a powerful yet gullible ally/frenemy ?! No offense, but your comment lacks substance and is highly irregular; I simply couldn't follow the frame of thought.
I don’t think he could have absorbed Shao Kahn’s power. There were some people he couldn’t absorb due to their power. Shao Kahn, Raiden, Goro, Fujin, etc…
To me, that makes up for the character's upbringing during the game. I thought he was a mere plot device gone awry, but this gives him meaning and status for the roster, rather than another name for the MK chronicles of "who screwed the universe up this time".
@inuyashachobitsfma I have no idea where you got this from, but no. After Shujinko defeated Dragon King, Shao Kahn became the ruler of Outworld once again. Mileena who was the leader of Edenian troops at that time, surrendered to the new emperor and captured Shujinko. Shujinko was imprisoned in Kahn's dungeon where he can be seen during Armageddon konquest.

MK Deception was something special. I still remember getting home from school and running around the realms for hours in Konquest looking for hidden chests and secrets. The death traps were also awesome. Good times.
Damn I miss Shujinko! I was surprised when he made a cameo in Cassie Cage's ending back in 2015 and was then more surprised when he is mentioned in MK11 in Liu Kang and Kung Lao dialogue!
And thus Onaga was undone by his own puppet. Fitting end but man Shujinko could have been a contender. A Pai-Mei protagonist? They totally fucked him up.
I love this ending. Shujinko, the all-powerful sage XD. Onaga was so smart (and so dumb for ensuring his own downfall) in creating an awesome fighter for the mk series.
In the first scene, it seems that he was not only able to absorb the abilities of Kabal, Ashrah, Bo Rai Cho, Baraka, Sindel, Ermac, Jade, Mileena, Nightwolf, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero, but as well as Jax, Smoke, Noob Saibot, and even fucking Mokap.
Ronald Fernandez I'm so glad Mokap appeared as a cameo in Shujinko's ending that was canonical in MK: Deception. Mokap still looks definitely cool to me.
I Shujinko had gone with Raiden, he would be captured like the others... The reason Sonya,Jax,Kitana and Johny weren't in the game is because they were posesed...
It really bugs me that people hate him because he released Onaga and gave him the Kamidogus (the first one is false since it was Reptile) and yet when Hanzo/Scorpion freed Shinnok and doomed the fallen Earthrealm warriors to be revenant forever by killing Quan Chi and didn't even atone for his mistake unlike Shujinko he was forgiven?
So... the warriors that aid Shujinko are *Scorpion, Ermac, Bo' Rai Cho, Sindel, Jade* (makes sense these are trying to fight Onaga), *Kabal, Kobra* (these were on a mission to attack the heroes after they defeated Onaga so it would make sense they'd be there), *Jax, Johnny Cage* (heroes freed by Ermac, still checks out), *Sub-Zero, Nightwolf* (who should be on different missions but I guess they might have joined the fight), *Baraka, Mileena* (Who should be working for Onaga so I guess Shujinko converted them), *Smoke* (why is he not with Noob?), *Ashrah* (I guess she escaped the Netherrealm? So maybe this was supposed to recognize her ending where she kills Noob as canon and that's why Smoke is free?), and then freaking *Stryker* (he's on the far left, you can't see him in this cropped image) and *Mokap!!!*
Someone want to find an unused concept for the boss battle against Onaga (done in 5 rounds) based on Shujinko's ending? Or maybe create one like that???
I would love to see him return in MKI. But with slight alterations. His power no longer stemming from Onaga, but still having a mixed fighting style. Instead getting his ability to learn and copy from Fire God Liu Kang. Who likely saw Shujinko's potential when gazing in the other timelines. His style not being a bland copy from a character, but actually mixing various moves into seamless combo's While his magic instead remains his own type (same color and effect for everything) but mimicking other special moves while also mixing them. (for example, he won't just use shang Tsun's fireballs the way Shan Tsun would use them, and they will not look the same in color or effect, but match other effects from Shujinko's moves) (Think using Scorpion's rope-dart, but instead of the famous GET OVER HERE, he instead starts swinging the rope dart around while the blade catches fire. Instead keeping opponents out of his zone.) Lastly, adding to his background that he learned how to blacksmith, and builds large amounts of weapons, replica's he witnessed wielded by other combatants, but all with their unique look in his own style (think the swords from Shujinko in Deception/Armageddon, that style of look, for all his mimic weapons) It will make Shujinko more his own character rather then a copy/paste mix-mash of other characters.
@lollipop5558 sooo right dude, Shujinko daydreams with killing Onaga, Scorpion IS the one who really kills Onaga, and Raiden( which looks cooler but acts worser than the original), kills Shujinko for helping Onaga, perfect story.
