Aikura Gassho Village was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.
This village produced a large amount of raw materials for salt, salt, and gunpowder during the Edo period and prospered in the territory of the Kaga Domain.
This is why these unique farmhouses have been carefully preserved to this day.
Gassho-style houses in this area do not use any nails, and the steeply pitched thatched roofs are designed for winter.
Although there are different scenery throughout the year,
But visiting in winter when the wind and snow are flying is the best time to reflect the architectural characteristics.
In addition, it is said that there are footprints left by tengu who passed by the village in the past, but they are no longer visible in winter.
