Another fantastic song, this song is literally from just their 3rd album, these boys have always been killing it and writing amazing conscious songs abt real issues in Korea and the world since they were rookies.
Side note: I LOVE V’s voice in this song, I LOVE his low tone, and J-Hope’s verse is so melodic, you can really hear him coming into his own rapper identity (sound) in these early songs.

my favoritttteeee Lory, somehow you are reacting to songs or videos that I first saved on my play;ist. The live performance one(that was in Bangtan TV) made me for real an ARMY and a Jin as my bias-because they were crazy and Jin was the craziest. I t was on my recommendation back the when I was really new ARMY, and I said to myself they are chaotic, and who is this silly one (Jin) dancing like that. I guest I like silly ,chaotic Bangtan. lol
This video had me in stiches when I first saw it, haa haa haa 😂. It's from their "BTS GAYO - track 15" show. You should check it out. Their "assignment" for that day was to do a music video on one of their songs. They had to pick a song, produce it and direct it. They always have ARMY in mind, trying to make us smile and laugh. LOVE them so much. 💜💜💜
The jackets are their outfit in their concerts(world tour). In fact I think they filmed this while on tour 😂. They wear this jackets while performing this song too. That Jin pose holding tummy , I recreated that in a vegas hotel during their concert 😂

If I am not mistaken (ppl correct me if I am wrong :-)) they have RUN BTS, a variety show where they are usually given challenges or games to play and I am not sure if it is one of their mission/assignment or whether they lost a game and in return they were supposed to make a video of their song. They had Jin choreographed and they shot it in their hotel room. It is quite a fun song to listen to, but the meaning!!! It is quite deep and is typical BTS 🤩🥰😍 ohh and you should see the live 😀
I was a grandparent when I got my first cellphone (flip phone). This was like 20 something years ago. Our neighbors invited us over to let our grandkids swim. I was wearing shorts and had my phone that I had just gotten THAT DAY in my pocket. All of a sudden I decided to not care that I was wearing shorts. I was going to get in the pool with the kids. You guessed it, I forgot about my phone. So my first phone was ruined on the first day. 😂😂
BTW, I’m much older than you, but I guess the jump off of a building:bridge saying crosses over generations and continents. My mother said the same thing to us in Texas, and I said it to my kids 😊

My teenage time was of course very different, but (also of course) I never really fitted in. Of course I wanted to, but I certainly never felt that 'acquisitions' would help me do that, and I think my mum was much more likely to insist on buying me something than I was to ask for it 😂
However, this was not only another country but also another century (😢😂). Even now I am unimpressed by material possessions - I've known a lot of folk who have a lot of posh stuff and posh lifestyle, but I am totally unimpressed by the stuff. The person, maybe, the stuff, not so much.
I think the culture of bullying in Korean schools is relevant here (though by no means the only thing!) and the pressure to fit in is perhaps that much stronger as a result. Also the demands for excessive time studying means that kids may literally have no time for anything else.
I worked from when I was 12yo and saved money of my own - I suspect I could have bought my own 'North Face' or equivalent with my own money, if I wanted it - but they are nothing like as expensive over here. How could Korean kids hope to work part time and make enough of that kind of money...
Parents must feel an incredible pressure, which is probably not only spine-breaking, but also heart breaking!
As usual BTS put this phenomenon in perspective and yet somehow do not put down kids - there is a basic understanding for the young people, more like big brothers, than harsh critics - as well as a demand that they get a sense of proportion and start to appreciate their parents.
btw I believe that when V came to Seoul his parents bought him a North Face jacket because they didn't want him to stand out ... His parents were really hard up, so it must have been a struggle for them, but they had gone off trend by that time.
Honestly, the back story of every BTS individual just melts me.
Love this song, Jin's choreo, the Chanel-like jackets, Jin funny self, V's low voice and most of all Jungkookie making faces, he looks like a cartoon character. Further in time, when you get into the RUN BTS episodes, you will love them 100 times more even if it sounds impossible.🥰

Oh My goodness, I couldn't wait for this and am so sorry you didn't know there was a 'making of' this video that is hysterical. Making this was a 'challenge' given to them while they were in a hotel in Chile and they were only allowed to use props they already had and had to all come to the decision what role each would play, what they would do and how they would do it. It is so much fun to watch!!! ARMY grandma

This is still one of my favorite songs. The making of the video is funny and you would love the live Performance. I love all the BTS members voices, but I have to admit Suga and RM rapping is top tier and TaeTae baritone, deep voice here is like wow. It is not often that TaeTae's deep, baritone voice is used in BTS songs, but when it is it is like boom 💥 🧨 such as the song Jump.

Oh this is a great one! I think if I'm not mistaken the story behind it is V's mom bought him a real nice coat for a new year of school but by the time he entered the new school it was no longer popular. But he still loved it because it was from his mom. I remember the story about V. I think the song may be about that. Either way it's great. They did live performance of this as well enjoy that as well it's so great!!!!
The story was that his mom buy that jacket when he was going to Seoul when he admitted to trainee. Being coming from countryside , his mom was afraid that V would be looked down in Seoul.

This song discusses “the padding craze.” (You can read this 2011 Korea Joongang Daily article and this 2018 Business of Fashion article to get an idea about the padding craze that has been around for almost 10 years.)
Around 2008-2009, it became increasingly popular among (mostly) high school students to wear padded jackets, specifically the ones from the North Face, an outdoor clothing and gear brand. Due to their notoriously high prices, the jackets became to be called the “spine breakers” because students would “break their parents’ backs” to keep up with the expensive trends. Wearing the same or a similar jacket was a sign of conformity (or simply that of being trendy) in the beginning but quickly became a symbol of status and class division.
The brand was immensely popular last winter, especially among teenagers, to the point that it was referred to as the “second school uniform.” The jackets were nicknamed “spine breakers,” for squeezing money out of parents trying to appease nagging kids.
The brand was so coveted by teens that it played a role in school bullying. The jackets signified hierarchy. The most expensive Himalayan down jackets starting at 700,000 won were owned by the most popular ― or the most powerful ― kids while the 250,000 won Nuptse 2 were worn by the “losers.” Wearing the cheapest jacket, however, was considered better than wearing another brand.
“The fine is not at all too much regarding how the brand, a.k.a. ‘spine breaker,’ brought out numerous social problems like school violence, money extortion, distorted sense of class distinction, household burdens and the long-term unfair businesses it practiced,” said Seoul YMCA through a statement.
from Korea Herald (May 2012), after the North Face was charged a 5.2 billion won ($4.6 million) fine for compelling all 151 of its retailers here to charge 10 to 15 percent higher prices than for rival brands since 1997 to maintain the brand’s premium image.

Si te ha parecido maravilloso el mensaje y te ha hecho reír el vídeo...el 'making off' es sencillamente hilarante. Fue un reto que les propusieron, hacer un vídeo de una de sus canciones y acabaron eligiendo esta y asignando a cada miembro una función😂😂😂 de ahí que aparezcan los créditos con sus nombres. Para saber algunos que significan debes verlo y reirás mucho. Pensar que se les fue ocurriendo todo sobre la marcha, que nada fue planeado, es increíblemente gracioso. En su discografía las canciones que parecen mas cómicas, por el sonido o la coreografía, suelen ser las que tienen mensajes mas importantes.

Hola mi niña linda espero que estés bien, esté video fue un desafío que el staff les hicieron a los chicos en una gira y eso fue aquí en Chile en el Hotel donde estaban hospedados y estaban aburridos por eso se hizo de esta manera porque también les dieron 15 minutos para planificar y terminar el vídeo y por ahí debe estar toda la grabación completa donde explican que están en Chile etc etc........
