Song tells the tragic love story of how Emperor Tang Xuanzong of the Tang dynasty was forced by his generals and officials to execute his beloved Noble Consort Yang with poisoned wine at 'Ma Wei Hill'. They threatened to defect if he did not. In order to help preserve the Emperor's throne, Consort Yang drank the poison willingly. Li Yugang - China's cultural treasure - in this video he is more than 40 years old, a female impersonator in Chinese traditional opera. Two different "schools" of voice emission, but it sounds so exceptionally good together 🤩
Yay! You did check this out! Can’t wait to see your reaction! Someone may have told you in the comments, but Li sings female parts with the China National Opera. Hi, QoFy, and thank you. Your Dimash reactions are always wonderful. A chrysanthemum is a type of flower, maybe called a "mum" in GB? Li Yugang is a well-known star of the Chinese National Opera. He's famous for a type of traditional Peking opera role called "nan dan", where the men train for years to portray the female roles, mimicking the gestures and facial expressions, as well as the soprano voice. I was shocked at how well traditional Peking opera blended with Dimash's Turkic ethnic fusion, especially in the duet part. We just never know what to expect from Dimash...so much fun! 😁
Thank you for reacting to my favourite Dimash duet! Li Yugang is 41 and a very popular Opera singer in China who became renowned for playing the female roles in Opera due to a time when females were not allowed to perform on stage. He has continued ever since and is an amazing counterpart for Dimash in this stunning duet. Beautiful music is everywhere - and everywhere it touches us and uplifts us and heals us, IMHO.
@@QofyReacts I just checked, and as of July 23rd Li Yugang is now 42! Hard to believe, right? Maybe Dimash's hopes for peace through music can become a reality. :)
Lee Yugang is famous in the Peking Opera and sings traditional female roles, This is a story of the Emperor (Dimash) sentencing the concubine (Lee Yugang) to death. That's why there are modern day comedic sketches of women roles in Shakespeare being played by men in some of the comedy films made by like the "Carry on" team or the Python lot etc. Also of course there are the examples of Castrati, they were created as women were banned from Church choirs in the 1600s in parts of Europe . So some monsters decided instead of just stopping the ban or just having tenor male singers or even countertenors they would instead mutilate pre teen boys to prevent them ever reaching full puberty and to give them high crystal like voices to replace the women that would've sung those parts except for the ban.
