Very interesting video. I remember the exact same style of canoes being used on the lagoon and pulled up onto the beach at Lagos when I was there as a child 64yrs ago. A video showing how those canoes are made would be so interesting also as they are such beautiful boats made with such skill and craftsmanship.

You usually have very good videos on the life of Nigeria! and this time you even got a better video on it! because you have gone even deeper into the heart of Nigeria! which is much more than its largest cities and big towns! and in this great video you have even given those great people another view, another image and another voice! which is something very good because they are frequently ignored! and even forgoten! even by the Nigerian Goverment! therefore you have done another great job by bringing them some books! so that they could also learn something about the great world outside of their very beautiful but also very little paradise! Best wishes from Mexico City! and I wish that we could also have those very beautiful blue skies in my city!👍

@@tuforu4 I hope so! besides some other things! of course! but even with that in mind those things in fact are not as many or as expensive as most people think! specially considering the great wealth that could also be created also by the poor people! and don't forget also that the best wealth in the world is always much better used by the poorest people! because they're really the ones that really know poverty better! therefore if they just had the right means to fight against it then they would do it much better than just the rich politicians just sitting some times in their luxory desks just thinking about it! and that is only for just some times! because most of the time in fact they're just thinking about their own selves! only about their own well being! and only about their own health! and only about their own wealth! of course!

The people may appear healthy but the life expectancy in Nigeria is just over 60 years, there is no sanitation in this village, the birth rate is exceptionally high and medical care is almost non-existent. My heart breaks for so many people without basic services.

    Very nice villages by river!!!
But we all have to watch alligators 🐊 and crocodiles 🐊 on any rivers. We all know these reptiles are dangerous!!
But I’m glad you walked on logs and houses near river. I think Nigerians go to fishing and sell woods to the market.

Credit where it's due. This is good footage.
I've never seen skies so blue in Nigeria.
The downside is that if the logging isn't regulated it will turn into another treeless shanty community.

@@Ludo_Liu Managing anything in Nigeria is a challenge. The community needs to be informed about the importance of sustainability and planting at least 10 seedlings for every felled tree. The nation as a whole lacks tree cover.

Very much a documentary style video and I liked it. Apparently, the village is getting income from timber. Do you know if the village is covered by an internet or a cellular network? And as always, a real pleasure to watch your videos in 4K on my UHD TV, the quality is amazing. ¡Buen trabajo como siempre! Fue muy informativo e interesante. In case I have no time to leave a comment on your next video, at this point I'd like to wish you & your family a Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅🎁 Btw, I'd love to see what Lagos looks like on Christmas but I'm sure you'd rather spend Christmas with your family than driving around the city, so don't take any pressure off this wish. Que tengas un bonito fin de semana! 💜 Cuídate! Abrazitos 💕 Chao! 👋
Edit: J’ai vu des gens tenir un téléphone sur leurs mains, on dirait qu’ils ont un réseau cellulaire dans la région, n’est-ce pas?

Another excellent video. I was watching the video confused because even though the caption states that you are in Osun State, the people and the area looked very much like people from my side of Nigeria, Delta State and non- Yoruba. Even the way they spoke English sounded very familiar to me and then it was confirmed that they are descendents Ijaw settlers from the Niger Delta. Nigeria is a very complex country. Thanks again for posting.

This are arogbo Ijaw, very different from Ijaw from Delta or Rivers State, They have always reside in the reverline area of Ondo, Osun and Ogun States, Arogbo Ijaw speaks their distinct Ijaw language and they do comprehend and speak Yoruba as well. some even bear Yoruba names. Omoyele Sowere is an Arogbo Ijaw man.

    • @DionneEguono
      @DionneEguono 2 роки тому +1

@@mungopark1876 They said on the video that they are originally from the Niger
      Delta...
That being said Ijaw is not a homogenous ethnicity..Just like the Yoruba (Oyo, Ijebu, ekiti etc) and Igbo (ika, Asaba, Ukwuani etc) which consists of many dialects under one umbrella, the Ijaw (Boma, Akpoi, kalabari, Arogbo and Sagbama ect) is also a multitude of ethnicities under the Ijaw (Ijoid) Umbrella.
Shamefully a lot of Nigerians don't know this. They hear Yoruba, Igbo or Ijaw and assume that it refers to one homogenus unit when that is far from the case.

Thanks for uploading this. Just a little observation. There doesn't seem to be much of Govt presence here, which is sad. And there are pockets of places like this throughout Nigeria. Once anoher country tries to collare this place, that's when FG will be bandying sovereignty. The easiest weapon of showing sovereignty is by developing an area. It is quite sad!

Wood industry seems to be their main source of livelihood.
How much is 700 nairas in euros? Here, one of those planks would cost about 30 € (made of spruce).
In my country that "waste" wood they have in abundance, would be burned in fireplases ... to get heat (last week -20 C°) 🙂.

Finally, I think you can do a more educative series about this village and similar like it all along the inner waterways from Lagos to the Delta.
