After driving past a quarry for years I became intrigued on how they worked. Thanks for this video. After they have finished with the site does it become a rubbish tip?
Being very interested in the Raynes Quarries in Llanddulas, their history, and the working of which are on my channel, I found this explanation very interesting. The shipping of stone from the Llandullas is also shown on my channel.
There’s a few ways actually, first major one would be hitting ground water my last quarry was a limestone quarry we hit water in 2010 and it filled so quickly we pumped about 1 million gallons a day by 2012 we closed other ways is rain and forced filling due to mines closing
Chrastian Higgar yea just depends on the circumstances some quarry’s will take a long time to hit water due to location and elevation others can hit quickly
Been all over youtube watching these videos. This is the first one to explain how a quarry works, that I have found. Very good.

But how does a quarry get filled up with water? Just by rain or do the campanies fill them up themselves?
Rain.
