Show-Ya - all-female rock band from the early ’80s to the late 80s. Broke up, got back together around 2005, and still going. The guitarist is also the mother of Mary’s Blood guitarist.
"Miho" actually but yes, she's great. Real metalhead and her playing is really on point. It's just not extremely obvious in Lovebites because she doesn't really do any flashy solo-parts. There are a few parts here and there that are just her and Haruna (drums) musically. Being a metal bassist myself I'm really quite impressed how she hammers those rythms through their whole set playing with her fingers (as opposed to a pick)! Very nice!
A fun video to react to is Midori and Miyako on stage with Dragonforce playing the theme song to Farming Simulator 2019 live in London. Miho the bass player is the co-founder of the band and she is the band leader.
Other great Japanese bands: - Maximum the Hormone, or you may just call them "Insanity" haha. Only the drummer is female but she is awesome (as is the rest of the band, her brother plays guitar actually) and Akane (from Band Maid) has said that Nao (MTH's drummer) is one of her big inspirations. They switch styles mid song like nothing and get incredibly heavy. Try "Maximum the Hormone II", "Yoshu fukushu" or "Alien". - Gacharic Spin, all female rock band with an electronic twist. Great musicians all of them! Try "赤裸ライアー" (Live), "Gold Dash". The live shows especially are highly energetic. Dancers, weird costumes, guitar/bass spins, guitar solos, bass solos, key solos, drum solos, .... - Doll$boxx, same musicians as Gacharic Spin with a different vocalist and a bit more of a metal vibe, also just as great! Try "Take my Chance" or "Shout Down". EDIT: Oh and don't forget Ningen Isu! All those other bands are younger and innovative at all but if you want to be taken to school by the old masters of classic heavy metal with over 30 years of band history and 20 albums under their belts... Try "Heartless Scat", "Namahage", "Life for Sale", "The color out of space" for example. Live is also always an option.
Ok, this is something a little different. Mari Hamada is a Japanese heavy metal and pop rock singer, songwriter, and producer. Since her debut in 1983, Hamada has been known as the "Heavy Metal Queen" of Japan. Throughout her career, she has released 25 singles and 23 studio albums. The rig for the Wacken show was rented and not their normal touring rig. For their normal touring rig, Midori uses a Kemper. She does events for Kemper in Japan and was with them at the NAMM show. Miyako uses Peavey amps (6505 and Invective) into an Orange cab. Miyako uses Lunastone pedals and has demonstrated for them at NAMM. She also uses an Ovaltone drive pedal and a Boss reverb. For extra guitar nerdiness, Miyako has replaced the capacitors in her guitars with Ovaltone Nue devices.

The oldest female band that I have found that still plays is Show-Ya. They started 1985 and all are in their late 50 ies now. Cool fact. The Guitarist Miki is mother to the Guitarist Saki in Marys Blood. As a Guitarist I think You gonna love Asterism. 3 piece band, only instrumental. They are jawdropping! If We are talking Old japanese bands we're talking Ningen Isu (Male band) Heratless Scat, Life for Sale or Namahage is a good choise to react to. They have been around since 1987 and after 12 albums they finally come abroud!

I must coincide with "Japaninhimself", you must check on Scandal. Scandal aren´t a metal band, more rock, punk-rock, a little on the garage side. They have a long career from 2006. They starts so young than the drums player (Rina) was still in secondary school at this time. 9 studio albums, 2 mini-albums, 3 compilations, a lot of life performances... they change their style with the years and they are really talented. A gimmick can shell one or two records but nine along 14 years? of course not Also of course you must chek sometimes, for a change of pace with Shonen Knife. A legendary punk-rock band (also all female) and also from Osaka, one of the favourite bands of Kurt Cobain. Those girls played almost in any little but prestigious hall in the world. Really fun to see and really an old school band. They are playing from 1981 and still rocking.

I wasn’t there but from what I’ve heard, the crowd was impressed. I have read a list of the standouts from that festival and they were among the bands that made a good impression. I have seen a video of the whole show. At the end the crowd chanted the name of the band.
This performance was a break out for the band and helped them to win the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. The tent was filled front to back and overflowed outside.
Japanese female band? Mary's Blood, Doll$Boxx, and very young one may be for10 years later is Li-sa-X band. Very talented but sound and their ages are too young.
