Its almost coming to a month that we haven't had the next part. Is everything ok and are the classes still happening?
We are concerned for Sheikh Yasir Qadhi and pray he is in good health. Usually these videos are uploaded quickly but this time it hasn't been so would be grateful if someone in MIC can update all of us online students.

I'm a convert and love the Sheikh and I had a question about what he says in the searah lectures about not talking about bad things. First, in American culture, although brushing things under the rug often happens, it is generally thought to be harmful to ones self and the family. I'm also a US army vet and have had a lot of issues from "not talking about stuff". What is the balance? I understand not sensationalizing stuff and leaving details out that have no benefit of mentioning. But it is necessary for a lot of people to talk for healing. Would a good rule be to only bring up these topics if one first has a legitimate right to, (define that however you want) and if it is for a beneficial purpose. I can bring up war trauma with other vets, share with people who have a business knowing that stuff like family members and close friends but only if it is my business I'm sharing and they are okay hearing it. Grateful for any opinions. Not talking about something that has shaped you so profoundly is only possible, in my opinion, if you talk and process the experience. Only then, one can move on.

He for sure was talking about sins[fornication, stealing, etc]. You can talk to your friends and people that are close to you about stuff that bothers you.
You can in certain situation talk about previous sins in order to teach someone a lesson and to show them the right way but we cant talk about sins in order to "show off".
Allah knows best. Hope that helps

I think he s talking more about the news culture. We are constantly bombarded with all these news of robberies, murders, rapes, violence fraud that we are now desensitized to it

We tend to judge others before we know them. If we extend the same practice to those from whom we deduce the right path, it might get problematic. So it is either better to not discuss those areas where there is too much room for judgement, or discuss those aspects in great detail, so that informed judgements may be made.
For example, if a companion of prophet operated on incomplete information and on his best judgement in his time and era, that same act may be seen in a bad light in todays context. So it is natural and easy to judge that the companion acted upon his ill intentions. Which might not be true.
Allah is the knower of all things.
