I used to love this in the arcades. Along with Rampage and Gauntlet was one of my most played games. I've learnt so much from you guys! Thanks again Todd.
Little factoid: Notice the framerate? Arcade games usually had a framerate of up to 60fps - Marble Madness had one up to 30fps, the reason being that the game was programmed in C instead of the usual assembly language.
1:17 Hey! The theme from Mario Bros (NES version) is playing in the background! 😀 I didn't know you guys messed around with consoles in your workshop. 😎
Christmas 86 my Dad brought this home from his business for two weeks (without permission from the company it was leased from). anyway moved it on its back in a van, we didn't have keys but the latches that hold the control panel unlocked in transit and woop, could reach inside an add credits using the coin mechanism.... many massive hi-scores were realised in the hallway of our house that winter, excellent memories!
& Used to put it into test mode and let the yamaha pokey silly race music play until was so fast it was like over 9000 bpm - ha, gonna do it in mame now!
Oooo, that hurts. Now I see. Thank you for taking the time to reveal all of those additional costs that I was unaware of. As a side note, I really enjoy your videos. Hopefully, I'll be a customer one day. We just started looking into buying our first home and I always wanted a game room. If everything works out, I may pay you a visit one day.
I was awaiting for this. Since this arcade game had a sequel. Just like paperboy. I've never seen the video arcade game machine version of Peter pack rat. I already know that the fan isn't silent running. Have I also ever told you that the number puzzle Sudoku is really tough to solve? It's a Chinese number puzzle Mattel Electronics Intellevision could've possessed. The more empty spaces there are on this puzzle: The harder it becomes to solve. The computer/machine solves it for you at the end of the game. 🐀 🐁 🐭 🐀
marble madness had amazing graphics and sound for 1984/85..i came across it on holiday in a campsite videogames room...paperboy too was cutting edge and blew the competition away.
Used to play that game a lot back in 1984. I learned a lot of the tricks in the game including an easy 4000 points in the first chute in the beginner round. Never had completed the entire six rounds. Kept getting into trouble in the fourth round prior to the goal.
I'm going to blow your mind when I tell you that Mark Cenry, who created Marble Madness, later played an important role in designing both PlayStation 4 & 5
The machine was #3000 plus tax , in that area. You always split your money 50/50...so $7250 divided by 2 is $3625.00. Now that means you possibly made $600. But how about figuring in operating the machine for 3 years. Tha's $200 a year. Then the cost to send a man out to fix stuck quarters, or a bad power supply. Just the cost of collecting the machine over 52 weeks! This was a LOSER in a big way for this vendor!
They generally set all the games to free play. If the games do not support it, they put a push button on the coin door that adds credits to the game. TNT is located "in historic Bucks county" outside of Philadelphia.
You can't repair burn-in...well, maybe you could, but nobody does it. It'd be like repairing a light bulb; you could probably do it, but it's easier just to get a new one. So what you want is a new monitor.

Loved that game-Marble Madness! Makes me wish it was 1984 again.
marble madness is a timeless piece of art.
Great! We'll be here--doing this since 1979!

TNT Amusements Inc spooky sounds. like the scary ghost bits in Scooby Doo.
I remember seeing this in the arcade. For some reason it didn't stay long.

Hi Todd,
How much did the machines cost brand new?
29,000 quarters x 0.25 = $7,250.00
Awesome 👍
Is there a behind the scenes for this game?
This was filmed ages ago...but when we sell the next one, will do more
TNT Amusements Inc no I mean was there an 1980s footage behind the scenes for this game like they did with mortal combat
I'm going to blow your mind when I tell you that Mark Cenry, who created Marble Madness, later played an important role in designing both PlayStation 4 & 5

If i get something from there, can you guys make it free play? I'm opening an arcade with all games free play, no money to get into the arcade
plus, where is TNT amusements?

These games are like hollywood movies in that they make them and hope they are popular and make money. The arcade business has to be rough.
It was always a tough business!
29k quarters is 7250$
Imma assume the reason why marble madness lost a lot of money because there was not enough levels.
