She's sad because her partying years are over and she doesnt know where to go from there. That's why she's sad. She needs meaning in her life... and meaning doesnt mean Instagram and parties.
Doesnt she.... it's what happens when things like that happen to u as a child. And your left to fend and grow up yourself.... shes very lucky she has her family as many people take the wrong route
I feel like now is the time for Paris to leave the character she created and held on to behind. After watching the documentary, people will accept and support her true self.
But her buissness revolved around this image, so she also have to ditch everything she built so far because it is all "fake" the voice, outfit, interest... and I'm not sure that's what she want probably after her billion.
That's her entire brand & after watching her documentary, she enjoys the character. We can still support her, she just needs people to support her choices because that's what she's lacked since childhood. Her parents chose to send her away instead of supporting her.
TBH, and this is just my opinion. But it seems like she uses that personality as a comfort zone. You can see whenever she feels uncomfortable she uses her high pitched voice. Its like she understands that she is two different people but one is dealing with trama and the other is just a front to create a brand. The moment she decided to be a different person was in solitary and, it seems like that is where her second persona came from. She almost has to disassociate from herself. I don't think she will ever be whole herself until she feels secure enough to let the other persona go.
the sadness in Paris's eyes overall ... then her eyes got sadder and a deep frown when Drew starts saying she went through similar... Paris has such a sweet soul, empathy and compassion
Where? There was nothing sweet or empathetic about her. Does everyone have sudden selective amnesia about who this person is? Wow, time really does change people's opinions.
Stop worshiping celebrities. Many people go through worst than this and poor at least she have money to feel comfortable stop giving attention to those celebs, it’s crazy thinking to work everyday from morning go evening for the rest of your life and still not make the money they make in a year because of people like you following them and supporting useless celebs
But then Drew kinda dismisses it because she said it helped her. I think her and Paris definitely had different experiences because she was physically assaulted and abused. It was just a scared straight situation.
That doesn’t make him biased just because drew didn’t go through what Paris did. Her school specifically was the one they were starting a movement for. Did you not pay attention?! No there not all the same.
Drew was proud of her experience, that is not the same thing what Paris when through was abuse and torture they also talked about sexually assaulting these young girls..
This story has truly taught me to stop judging famous people we don’t know. I see what an incredible, caring, smart, strong and beautiful woman Paris is now. Respect to her.
That is so true. I remember seeing Paris becoming so famous thinking "she heiress blonde bimbo!" But after I saw the trailer and like you said, I prefer characters in movies/TV show instead of Actors because I will never see them in real life. My only people I care about it is my family who love me.
I completely agree with you. And I am a survivor of physically and mentally abuse over many many many years too, so I see it in my own eyes too, in pictures etc. It is like I am smiling, but only with my mouth. And I am laughing when with friends and family etc BUT inside I am crying and even dying. Compared to Paris I am a poor nobody, eventhough I am not poor per definition, but I have never ever told anyone about my abuse. I’ve made appointments, but I always cancel them just one hour before I’m supposed to be there. And Norway have completely free healthcare so it is not that who is stopping me. I .. I just can’t talk about it. I just can not do it. BUT, Paris’ docu did something to me. So I dared myself to write this comment but this is as far as I’ve ever gone. And my abuse started when I was 3 yrs old and the physical abuse ended a few years ago but the mentally abuse is still going on. Maybe that is why I am so scared. They tried to convince me that I was crazy for many years too and someone is still doing that to me despite all the documentation from the psychiatrists and other doctors. They just wont accept it, the fact that I am not sick. I really do not know why I am such an easy target for emotionally and mentally abuse, and used to be for physical abuse too. Sexual abuse was the worst. Of the physical abuse. Omg I have said way too much. I hope none of them and ESPECIALLY ‘HIM’ sees this!!!!!!! Omg😳😳😱😱😱🥺🥺 But go Paris💖💖💖💖💖💖💖👱🏻♀️💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Aliaza Luor Yeah, I see that too. I noticed it right away. I watched the documentary and I really liked it. I mean it was very well done and it’s sad what she went through. I learned a lot about her and gain a lot of respect for her after watching it.
@@aidasjournal I am so sorry to hear what you went through! You are so strong and brave to come forward and share your story here. You are someone special, sane, full of light and a warrior queen. Anyone else telling you something else just trying to silence and manipulate you. Please don't believe them. Believe that you are worthy and capable of finding a way out of the darkness. It will take time but there is light at the end of tunnel! I don't know how old you are and if you still have to live in this dangerous situation, but if so, try to find a trusted person, like a friend or public institution. If you go to a therapist you don't need to talk about the abuse but the therapist might help you to find a save strategy for your way out. If you can, move even in a different town, cut contact and start therapy to understand nothing ever was your fault and you don't fall back into their tricky mind traps. Understand that the people you try to convince that you are not insane, are not interested in that truth. You can't win their game. It is their strategy trying to keep you as victim and continue the abuse. And go to self defense classes. Start boxing, Krav Maga or jiu jitsu. It not only helps for the body but for the mind, giving you the strength to fight for your life. And don't feel pushed to talk about your experience. You are ready when you are. First make sure to create a save environment for yourself. Sending you all love, strength and power! You will get out of this! Take care, beautiful soul!
As a survivor of one of these institutions, one of the most hurtful and pernicious things they do is convince parents and children that their "treatment" was necessary or even life-saving. As someone who has worked against these programs for almost 15 years (alongside wonderful people like Katie from the documentary), I see this "the program saved your life" refrain over and over. It's dismissive and minimizes the abuse that people like Paris suffered. This abuses serious and can have lifelong effects. I urge Drew to reconsider her attitudes towards these abusive and dangerous behavioral modification programs.
Yeah, I watched Paris's documentary and I thought that it was very clear that Paris was traumatized from going to one of these programs. I don't know why Drew decided to ask her if going to this school has made a good impact on her because it did for her. I thought this question was really out of place.
I don't get the Drew is minimizing what Paris went through but is simply stated that she was lucky to have not gone to "treatment" that was of the extreme, abusive type.
As a huge fan of drew this is absolutely cringeworthy. She downplayed everything Paris said and rather than responding with NORMAL human emotion she disregards everything. Not ok!!! I’m glad Paris is standing up for herself.
Maybe she’s just trying to keep the show bosses happy it’s the first season ...she seemed nice to me she actually told her story too and compared the experiences ...
I didn't really care about the way Drew handled this interview. She totally dismissed Paris' experience. Instead, she talked about what a great experience she had. Terrible
@@nyriekathrynhadnot2015 did you know that famous people lie A LOT? Sure, she might have went to the same type of "camp", but the experiences sounded in no way similar. It's not cool to say "I had the same experience, and it was great." meanwhile Paris is like "I have nightmares, PTSD, and trust issues." Have you seen Paris' new documentary?
And this is the best example why Hollywood is dying. Narcissistic and so detached from reality. They always need a script to “portray” empathy. Paris handled this bizarre interview very smartly.
It's honestly shocking when you realize that these two women have known each other for decades. Paris seems depressingly used to that level of fakery and narcissism.
She's trying to make excuses for her past, 20 years later? Going to drew was the right choice because no one even knows who she is anymore. Her main audience is millennials.
Omg, notice how paris' her voice changes into her character voice once Drew is being selfish and dismissive over Paris' experience. You can literally hear Paris return behind her character. Wow. Speechless.
@@frednil8304 I wouldn't say either of them were doing anything deliberately, just two women discussing their experiences but by 7:10 it did seem like Paris sensed a need to stop "real talk" and be "lighthearted and fun" heaping praise on Drew and rounding off her time back on "brand" (she's a pro)
Yes, interviews like this or deep talks are better without audience, but some other talkshows are a bit awkward without them, like Colbert report, latelateshow or conan where no one laughs and just weird pauses. They are still funny, i just miss the audience on the funny shows. I dont know how ellens show without audience is gonna play like, because of all the latest news, its going to feel a bit tense with no one laughing at her jokes, But drew's show is amazing like this
When someone comes on a show to speak out towards a specific model of abuse, and you say "I wouldn't change a thing"... that's really freaking rude and counterintuitive. If that's how you feel, fine. But this interview was not the place to state that. I'm appalled right now.
It would be different if she never said she could relate to Paris and went through the EXACT same thing. It's like tricking her to opening up and dismissing her experience completely.
I feel like during most of the interview Paris was very real, open and honest. But the second that Drew asked her about needing outside validation and social media, she put her walls back up and got in character as the Paris Hilton most people know. I still think it's a huge step just sharing what happened to her and allowing herself to become vulnerable to tell her story, that's a big deal.
This whole interview made a mockery of Paris’ documentary. Drew was talking about her experience as if she went to the same concert as Paris... like”omg me toooooo twinssss” like no... this is abuse and not okay. This whole interview was fake.
Yeah she's an abuser Drew Barrymore is obvious abuser and probably worse than the people that abused her and she's going to dismiss anybody who tries to stop that disgusting evil behavior. Drew Barrymore made it seem like it's no big deal it was actually beneficial it's that whole satanic lifestyle for the greater good do what thou wilt evil is necessary it's a bunch of b*******
The Paris Hilton documentary really opened my eyes. This woman has gone through some horrible things and I hope she finds peace and satisfaction in her life.
@@thelos3999 yah, except her parents had moved cities, and bought her animals, and gave her whatever she wanted, and she was still just doing drugs, drinking and partying while underage lol, so THEN they sent her there. Where as the general population just goes to public school for regular abuse. Stay strong Paris. Stay strong.
I watched this documentary over the weekend. And was amazed about what she went through. It still pisses me off people made jokes about the infamous "sex tape" seeing how she was an underage girl. I'd love for Drew and Paris try and help Britney. P.S Paris was still a teenager when the tape was made/released without her permission. So don't reply and think you're going to change my mind, you're not. And if you think all of that is okay you are part of the problem.
Sabrina Murphy yeah she needed help but sending her to a troubled teen school was not the answer........ a school that kidnaps your kids instead of just telling them to pack is ......... obviously not prioritizing the child’s safety, mental well-being, and health tf - THATS JUST COMMON SENSE. Don’t try to justify this shit
@Sabrina Murphy Having 2 grown men coming in your room and take you out of your bed, in your house while sleeping is never okay! She seen her parents and they just stood by and said nothing. Didn't explain anything to her. That's crapy parenting.
Sabrina Murphy I agree with your comments. I have kids, and I was a horrible kid too. I did not realize what my parents was doing until I had my own, I believe that’s why Drew recognized that what her mom did helped her. Paris would not know until she has kids of her own.
The name of her show should tell you why she’s talking about yourself. Drew is also doing this to feel more of a connection towards her guests. I find it a shame when hosts do this.
I had a friend when I was growing up in the 80s whose parents had him taken in the middle of the night out of his bed and sent to one of the schools. Nobody knew what happened to him he just disappeared, then when he came back he was a totally different person he told us about how horrible it was. He was super messed up by the experience. I can’t imagine how betrayed you would feel by your parents after this.
Wow, it almost doesn't sound real to me. When I watched her docu only thing I kept thinking was this cant be real. What parent would do that? I mean as a parent, my first instinct would be therapy or family therapy. In a controlled but healthy surrounding, Not ppl coming and taking your child away in the middle of the night w/o their knowledge. Like wtf, just THAT could be so traumatic. Crazy
@@moonstruck562 I'm 29 and when I was a kid, these sorts of treatment centers were rather popular amongst the more well off. It didn't happen at my school because no one could afford it, but it happened at other schools where there were people who could. What you have to understand is, these places preyed on these parents and basically sold themselves as THE PLACE where their kid was going to be fixed. Bad grades? Over sexed? Staying out to late? Send them to this retreat where they will be molded into a good kid. I actually think a lot of these parents believed that they were just sending their kids to, like, a military school or something.
Carly Crays oh wow. Thanks for that insightful information. Now, I could see that happening from the way you describe / explain it so well. One, I suppose times were little different back then. And two, like you said, it sounds like it was painted to be a “rescue” mission for the wealthy... Tbh, kind of sounds more like a cult to me. A lot of brainwashing was involved. Maybe even the parents were brainwashed by these “facilities” (?)
I have a deeper, not really 'japanese' feminine voice. I hated it until one day I listened, really listened to Oprah and realized... a deep voice commands attention and respect. It just sounds more intelligent.
yeah, someone else mentioned they noticed she stop trying to get her serious message across when she realized Drew wasn't getting it. I think she uses her valley girl voice when she's acting, putting on her persona, for whatever reason - whether feeling uncomfortable and detaching, or simply working as "Paris." these things seem to go hand in hand. she talks sincerely about her movement, then switches to valley girl and treats it like any other pointless interview
That's called Dissociative identity disorder. It's a Defense mechanism. I knew this girl like that. She would be sweet and articulate. However she would like flip a switch and turn into some Gangster Female. She was in and out of foster homes etc. Quite sad really.
I remember Drew was gonna do a show with produced by Ellen Degeneres but they had differences so they stopped the project. I can see what was they're differences, Drew must be genuinely kind.
To expand: Ellen is a tv personality, Drew is a human being. Certain celebrities are just not down with that fact personality crap that major tv show hosts try to put on but that honestly does nothing for the person being interviewed. Imagine Paris being interviewed by Ellen. Ellen would probably try to trigger something in Paris to get a reaction just for views. I like when these interviews are places of healing instead another place to burn.
No shit, what drew experienced wasn’t anywhere near the same as what Paris experienced in these schools. Parvo sexually, physically abuses kids. Drew’s experience of “though love” isn’t a fair comparison at all. I’m also a childhood trauma victim and this part resonated with me- people try to downplay my trauma or say they can relate to it too, when it couldn’t be farther from the truth and comes across as a very egotistical and insensitive thing to say.
@@asunsol I disagree, I used to think Paris was an absolute spoiled brat....but I felt a very traumatised woman here, I think the reality of growing up with the jet setting messed up self absorbed parents with no time for their kids leads to very dysfunctional people like Paris. My opinion has changed just seeing the pain in her.
@@gemspiritmessages2754 I agree that growing up with the jet set can be also damaging, but I still don’t like her attitude, Drew also had a bad upbringing but is not playing the victim role to seek attention
Paris went straight back to her fake persona st the end. This was a bs interview and she saw right through it. Drew tried but failed to resonate with Paris. This is a 0/10. Bragging how your experience was better was cold.
100 percent agree. HA I noticed that personality shift toward the end too. It looked like Paris was excited at first and you can literally see her face drop everytime Drew throws another punch.
It almost seemed like Paris was about to cry from the relief of feeling understood, and then Drew said, "I wouldn't change a thing" about her own experience-- completely invalidating, and even worse than a normal interview because she set her up to feel supported.
One thing I really dislike when telling my story is people who turn the conversation onto themselves. When you start talking about yourself it weakens the persons feeling. You are taking away the attention that that person needs to fully be heard. Never bring the conversation back to yourself when trying to help someone. Listen and don't try to relate. It isn't the time. Everyone needs time to talk and have someone listen.
I think most of the time when people share, piggy-backing off of another person’s story, I believe most of the time it’s just to relate-to bring one person closer to another. It’s also a very common action by autistic women/girls who just want to be accepted by their peers, and find something in common and latch on, not expecting to hurt or steal anyone else’s spotlight. At least I hope that’s the case!
So true!! People genuinely think that it validates the other person by expressing they have the same experience or similar. Its mostly done in a supportive way yet totally lands wrong and closes down the dialogue for the victim. I'm even guilty of doing it myself and need to work on being more self aware!
Drew should’ve held back on talking about herself and her issues. It was distracting as an interviewer regardless if she was trying to show how she relates. I want to get to know how PARIS processes things that SHE went through.
January Babe No. What it does is it psychologically makes the interviewee (Paris) come comfortable because she is talking to someone who’s not just sympathetic but CAN RELATE.
@Sarah Antalis Frankly, I missed the whole part where Drew said she wouldn't change a thing. If she did, I do agree with you 100%. That said, my comment still stands under normal circumstances. A great example is a recorded interview of Chris Watts (look him up) where the detectives interviewing him were very nice and sympathetic despite his crime. An interviewer needs to be "impartial" to be able to get an interviewee to open up - this is journalism 101.
@@SophieSon no. That "doc" was a waste. Stopped watching it after an hour into it where she complains about how rich she is. I wasn't gon a waste another hour for that.
Her parents weren't "protective" they were snobs who didn't want their kid to embarrass them. You don't ship your kid off unless they are going to harm themselves or others. Paris did nothing of the sort. I HATED Paris when she was everywhere, but when I saw her documentary, I changed my mind. I knew she was NOT that dumb. I'm really glad she's doing this.
I find it funny you base your opinions of a human being based off of media anyway... it's always framed for you to see what they want you to see - good or bad. Next time don't judge at all...
Drew went in as an drugaddict and rebellious rioter. So in her mind ,she almost proudly 'deserved' the abuse. Still unaware that everybody got abused. Miss Hilton said it humbly and gracefully: 'I didn't deserve that.'...I felt that one. Drew didn't.
@@madisonleigh333 yes, she still seems proud of it. And maybe that's what saved her from trauma and she did get clean. Good for her.....Only she could/should have been more sympathetic towards miss Hilton though.
WTF??? This is probably the most undermining thing Drew could have done - never ever EVER speak to someone else's trauma by saying "I went through something similar and it was actually "good" for me." Drew's experience is completely irrelevant to Paris's and all the other people speaking out. And Drew is entitled to her own interpretation of her experience (of course), but if anyone is watching this who went to one of these schools or experienced something similar, I'm hear to tell you that NO ONE deserves this kind of treatment (solitary confinement, naked solitary confinement, being abducted from your bed in the middle of the night, being put in a straitjacket, sexual harassment by guards - all of these are described in the documentary btw). NO ONE deserves this and especially NOT KIDS. If kids are behaving out of control with drugs and alcohol, it's almost always (read: always) due to deep trauma -- abuse, degradation and imprisonment are NEVER the right response. We live in a disgusting fascist society that normalizes punishment and absolutely horrific abuses.
Everyone’s experience is different and if hers wasn’t like the one Paris had and she feels it helped her she has the right to say it sure but HOW and WHEN she said it was wrong and definitely not the right time, if you call it an interview about someone’s hard experience do that not a debate. At least if she really wanted to say it she should have worded it differently and not say I’ve been throught that too so this time it’s not just a usual interview bla bla letting someone believe they fully understand and to later say “hey mine was good wouldn’t change it”. I do agree with your comment though don’t get me wrong. Just because she is ok with it and has come out of it with no trauma(she acted like it but who knows) doesn’t make it ok in general or for others.
Also didn’t know she had a show and don’t really care but if I had to judge only by this interview it doesn’t seem a type of job made for her. Most if the interview was her talking and mostly about irrelevant stuff, very bad interview in my opinion
I agree with you & I'm finding that in Drew Barrymore's interviews, she tends to hijack the conversation & talk about herself. Which is disappointing because I grew up liking her acting. I wish she would have let Paris speak more & I wish Drew had put the brakes on talking about herself the entire time. At the end of the interview I have no idea why Paris was there if she was promoting something or what her experience was or even what her book or movie or whatever is about. Very strange interview, it's almost like nobody is co-producing Drew's show. Nobody's advising her & redirecting her to stay on the subject's subject. Sad it had such potential. :(
I thought Paris’ reply to Drew’s final questions were telling. Paris slipped back into her fake persona rather than real person. The fake she said “loves it” just shows she was saying what Drew wanted her to say.

My heart aches for Paris - u can truly see how broken she still is over this but when she smiles u see her strength so much respect for her speaking her truth
No one else thought Drew’s behavior was beyond rude and narcissistic? Normally, I would say I have always been her fan, but this really disappointed me. I can’t imagine inviting someone on a show to open up and discuss something so painfully difficult, and yet somehow turn the conversation into a story about herself. I get that Drew want to discuss her own experience, but that was not the time to do it. Just plain tacky. Paris handled it very well.
I don't think she was putting the attention to herself. She was basically making Paris comfortable in knowing that she's walked through her shoes & their stories are unfortunately the same as far as having a dark stage, so if anything she was allowing her to know that she understood her completely.
@G then if your that interested go speak to these ladies about it. I don't think you know the full story. They teamed up before the cameras even turned on & their purpose in putting both stories out there is to help other girls speak out. It's easy to make assumptions when you don't even have a clue of how they teamed up as friends ahead of time.
If you’ve watched Drew for years, she’s not one to interview but you have a back and forth interview, often times say a little something to get more from others. Drew needs to be more into interviewing than doing a regular conversation.
She validates her experience, which is nice....but then makes it about herself and her experience, which is what I would expect from a narcissist? This was a VERY confusing interview for me, and I have no idea what this clip about Paris was meant to convey. I found out more about Drew's experience than I did about whatever happened to Paris. Paris was very gracious, though, and she flattered Drew's interviewing (as sympathetic), which she seemed to appreciate.
I disagree. It may look like that from the outside in, but it’s something different when you’re in it. She was more telling Paris I deeply understand. Sharing the commonality of the soul. It’s important for survivors to feel like they’re not alone, and I think Drew did that for her. I speak from personal experiences. I would much rather be told of a persons similar experience while I’m sharing my own because it makes one feel more like a person and more understood, rather than just examined and looked at like a specimen, an animal in a zoo or an alien. It’s comforting and makes one feel like someone else gets it. We should always try and do that for others wherever we can.
Paris should be so proud of finally not being afraid to show her true self. I always knew she wasn't dumb, and I've been a fan of hers ever since I was 16 ❤
She is a total rebel. And rebels do many things makes them look dumb, in fact most of them are really dumb. She is just not an average dumb rebel. She is the intelligent one rebel chose to play dumb.
Exactly soooooo insensitive and dumb questions! The whole documentary has others in it who went thru the same thing. No you have not been there too if you did not develop PTSD and it helped you. Such a lack of understanding of trauma and abuse. And like so giggly talking about it almost like "omg we both shop at Zara! I can totes relate"
I believe it is because in Drew's situation if she hadn't been through it, she would have ended up overdosing. So, trauma vs overdosing, maybe trauma is her best option? But yeah, Paris' situation was different... she was a normal healthy girl.
Paris experience help her in some ways so that she can help others. Drew experience can also help others. Two differents experiences can share a common understanding and able them to help other and each other.
Is it just me, or did you guys notice how Paris went into auto-Paris mode when she said it was her most fun interview ever? "I love it" in that old TV Paris voice. It's as if the more they talked, the further she went into her shell and by the end she just gave up :(
I also think Drew herself was triggered got nervous and didn't know how to end the interview so ask the wrong question and got carried away. It was a difficult subject to handle she is not a psychologist.
I'm so ashamed to be from Provo, UT and this school still standing. I've signed her petition & shared it everywhere I could. It's awful to live with abuse. So proud of both these women being so open & honest. 🙏❤️
@@Davo198 Oh yeah UT has tons of them. Due to the state being controlled by the LDS it is a good place to send kids to be " Fixed". The church and state truly do not care about what is happening to these kids.
Drew, My experiences were much different than yours. I was held for 13 months at 3 different places, 2 in Mexico and also in Jamaica. I suffered physical and emotional abuse. I was trafficked across international boundaries. I was denied food, water, and adequate shelter for months. My parents were swindled out of enough money to pay Ivy League tuition, and yet I was being held in a dog cage or locked in a gutted out bathroom hogtied. I was treated equivalent to a POW at Guantanomo Bay. You invalidated Paris's experience by implying that she only speaking out for the social media that follows. Believe me, our survivor community is one that I'm proud of, but not necessarily an easy path. We uphold and lift each other up, but we are bombarded with negativity from all angles. I hope you reflect on your own experience, and decide if your kidnapping and time in solitary confinement was actually beneficial, or if it harmed you in ways you haven't yet realized. Nobody deserves abuse. What our survivors endured, is considered cruel and unusual punishment in the penal system. Yet, it's deemed ok for a residential school for children. I was strong enough not to be broken, but there are broken pieces of me that I must pick up everyday. I now struggle with C-PTSD. I make it through each and every day anyway.
Thank you for saying that Julie. Whether Drew chooses to admit it or not, what she described as abuse. I'm sad for her that she doesn't recognize that.
Julie Bruce Thank you for sharing your lived experience and valuable perspective. You are brave, and a survivor...but I think you know that. Suffering often does, paradoxically, breed wisdom...but that doesn’t negate the pain felt or excuse the actions of the perpetrators. I have CPTSD as well, and “picking up pieces of myself every day” rang so very true to my soul. Some days the glue that holds our fractured pieces together is strong, and other days, it isn’t. But we keep moving forward. If we miss a piece that fell, perhaps someone else will find it and it will help complete them.
I found that suppressing my trauma made my ptsd much worse. Hurtful secrets are a huge weight to carry. It was all I could think about. The moment I told someone about my experience i felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders. Even more so when I talked to people who shared the same experience. She’s such an amazing human helping so many people. I hope this allows her to heal.
Same, when I finally talked to my mom, after about 15 years of keeping it inside, about the sexual abuse my “father” put me through, I IMMEDIATELY felt a massive weight just gone and lifted, and my anxiety disorder and depersonalization/derealization disorder MASSIVELY improved, literally immediately, right when I told her!! It was incredible. I still deal with anxiety and disassociation problems but not nearly to the extent it was before
That is 50% of the battle the devil want you to think that you’re alone you’re the only one that went through this.... somethings wrong with you you’re crazy nobody’s gonna believe you they’re going to think horrible things about you and all of that is not true tell your story tell someone please
Who the hell approved this video? It's not even an interview, it's Drew talking about herself, admiting that the traumatic experiences were good for her (?!) and getting cool points for knowing Paris since they were kids. Ugh, I am so angry at Drew...
I honestly felt so much for Paris watching this. The way Drew responded seemed so insensitive and dismissive towards her experiences. You can tell towards the end Paris is just fed up with the whole thing and saying what Drew wants to hear at 7:12 this is ridiculous omg
I think you're insensitive for thinking drew isn't fighting back her own anxiety or trauma(Google it) in her head too since she seems to relate to paris's story on a personal level, studying Body language is as crucial as hearing words(man-made) ..they both seem as ease to me of course besides the fact that they're both hiding back tears.👍
@@missy9279 to say “i know how you feel” and then say she liked being there is not relating to the story. It’s undermining paris’s experience. I dont think it was intentional but thats the way it is
@@Hannahbalism She didn't said that she liked being there, but she found something good in a traumatic experience. It's two different ways to deal with trauma.
If it were me, I wouldn't have appreciated someone comparing my deeply traumatic experience with their own and then saying how it was "the best thing for them". I think that is being insensitive, and besides it's not the other person's story, it's Paris' in this case..
Drew said on Howard Stern's show a couple years ago how she's sooo glad she went to those institutions (wasn't even the same school as Paris') because they straightened her out but here she's all "I get you, Paris" 🙄 The way she MINIMIZED the childhood abuse these people have suffered......
This interview was toxic. Paris is trying to make a change and prevent other kids from going through what she went through and Drew was completely disrespectful of that. You could tell she didn’t even watch the documentary because right off the bat she asks if Paris had talked to other people who went through what she did. Those other survivors were IN THE MOVIE. 🙄 The “best interview” was Paris with her mask back on. I’m so sorry Paris. You deserved better!
Drew Barrymore was exactly like the prettiest girl back in my High School days, BEFORE I used to envy her physical beauty, she had that type of skin where she looks like she's wearing makeup she never dealt with pimples or dark circles the entire years of high school, her teeth were already perfect for braces, while I was getting bullied during those years for how I used to look, my teeth still needed braces and also I started making efforts such as putting a natural looking makeup covering up my dark circles *SHE SHAMED ME FOR IT AND EXPRESSED HOW IRRITATED SHE IS SAYING I ONLY CARE HOW I LOOK LIKE* when she even sees me trying my best to study, just because she has a HIGH I.Q and I am struggling with my LOWER I.Q that no matter what kind of study I do even with a tutor I still fail, I felt like every student's nightmares were being thrown to me, she even ask "Don't you ever care about your studies even just a bit?" I only gave her the death stare and did not answered her at all. I had a very strict narcissistic mother, while she had the kind of mother everyone wishes to have, I'd compare her mom with Regina George's mom, while my mother like the one who stole/adopted Rapunzel. So the girl had issues with me having problems with my own toxic mom, you know how a matured sister acts when her little sister misbehaves that's how she acted towards me for having issues with my toxic mom but in a bad way for my case, *ALSO SHE MADE FUN OF HOW I USED TO LOOK SHE TOLD ME WHEN WE GO OUT OF SCHOOL I WILL BE THE BEAUTIFUL CENTER OF ATTENTION IN A MEAN AND SARCASTIC WAY WHILE SHE IS LAUGHING HARD* she did it several times THEN AFTER HIGHSCHOOL, we never all met during college, but after college WE HAD A REUINION, my highschool teacher contacted me from Facebook to make a speech about my experiences, so I was optimistic to be there because I HAD A SUCCESSFUL COSMETIC SURGERY THAT GOT ME INTO MANY MODELINGS AGENCIES AND BEAUTY PAGEANTS WERE VERY KIND AND CONSIDERATE EVEN IF I TOLD THEM IT WAS COSMETIC SURGERY THEY STILL OFFERED TO JOIN, I BECAME ALSO SUCCESSFUL WITH MY ART SKILLS WHERE I GOT PROMOTED, so as I arrive I saw the girl again I dealt with along with our other classmates chit-chatting they all look at my NAME TAG that we all have for that reunion, so when she got the hint that I got a plastic surgery her reaction towards me looks irritated, you know when a dumb person makes a mistake at work and how a boss reacts that's how she reacted.Especially when I told to the speech about it but in the middle to the end of my speech I finally made her FEEL GUILTY while the rest including those who used to bully me, cheered and clapped for me as a job well done.
I've never seen a host put that much physical space between themselves and the person they are interviewing. All of Drew's body language and the way she spoke only further showed up the space between them. The set looks too sterile and Drew too scripted. I don't think this is really for her.
They should have explored more the fact that Paris was actually abused in that camp. She was forcefully given drugs, there was physical and sexual abuse. Other women confirmed these practices were taking place in that camp. They are equally traumatised by it. Not that Paris needed this 'evidence' to validate her feelings, but still. This experience cannot be compared with Drew's who does not detail such abuse. There is a big difference between tough love and abuse. I just found this discussion a bit superficial. Like the fact that Drew compared it to her experience and said that the practices saved her life... I was shocked. I wonder if there is more, I only saw this short clip.
@@luckysunnyguineapigs278 Exactly! I thought Drew would emphasise the importance of investigating the camp and its practices. And that she would show more empathy.
You’re all saying that Drew should’ve gone deeper but what if Paris didn’t want to? Every time someone talks about their abuse they relive it. Interviewers have to be careful with their questions, the last thing they want to do is trigger the person and making them shut down.
This rebranding of Paris is genius, I never really related or thought much of her until she was honest about her experiences now I’m obsessed with her, and have such a high level of love and respect for her as a woman. The way she said they - her torturers could never take away the core of who she is in her book, I thought this woman is a one of a kind, using trauma to start manifesting her dream life. Incredible woman!
Was really disappointed to hear Drew say that even the kidnapping, solitary confinement, etc. she “wouldn’t change.” As someone who has experienced these programs firsthand, I feel that really undermines the message here. Those things are abusive. Why would you condone them? That message is damaging :( Also to ask an abuse survivor what the positive takeaway was from their abuse.... I can’t comprehend why that would even be a question. These places don’t “save our lives.” I personally think Drew needs to process her own experiences and address the abuse that took place, because it seems like she’s still trying to excuse or justify the abuse, and that’s really counterproductive for raising the type of awareness that needs to occur to achieve real reform for the troubled teen industry.
I was very disappointed and concerned about this conversation too. In poking around, though, I’m not sure Drew was in the same kind of program at all-I understand it was a psych ward, so it really comes across so poorly that they assume they had the same kinds of experiences, with the resultant minimization of Paris’s story. I also think Drew is in denial about parts of her experiences-solitary confinement and kidnapping are hands-down abusive and traumatizing, regardless of the rest of the environment and experience. But the core of what Paris is revealing is these tactics to destroy identity and create traumatized compliance, along with the accompanying longstanding consequences. I too hope people will dig deeper and see through this
She’s probably been asked these same questions in therapy and thinks it’s normal to take something positive out of every thing in life.. idk just a guess.
Did anyone else see the minute that Paris put up her wall with Drew in the interview? It was down for a while then it went right back up as Drew kept talking.
Yes I saw it. And I honestly think regardless what kind of school Drew went, that I think she either had different school or she has been programmed to excuse the abuse she got as "saving her life". That is f'd up. At least Paris was not excusing it. She didn't deserve the abuse and nobody does, forreal. NOBODY deserves abuse was it a child, adult or elder. That kinda thing is not going to "help" anybody.
Now watching it a second time and Paris' voice starts to change here. Then after Drew talks about the 'I Will Destroy You' documentary, and asks Paris "what is the new plan?" Paris' voice goes even further into baby-mode.
Well, she had to protect herself. Drew seemed really disconnected and dismissive of Paris's experience, despite the revelation that she had gone through a similar experience. Drew didn't seem to have any compassion regarding Paris's experience; therefore, it's not a surprise. I would have done the same.
This interview was awful, Paris is trying to get her story heard, not Drew's. Drew basically made it all about her, and Paris was only being nice when she said her favorite interview cause she doesn't want to be rude and dismiss Drew's story 🙄 . Future reference when you have someone on your show, let them talk don't make it about you. You should have just finished the interview with how can I join your movement cause I'm a survivor too.
She was just trying to let her know she isn't alone and others have been in her shoes. She needs other people who have been through it. So i disagree with what you said
I have nothing against Drew, but it is quite apparent she is inexperienced with being an interviewer, as the interview seemed a bit scattered, so I'm also wondering if if it was edited (poorly). It lacked a contextualizing introduction, and from the first question Drew asks, it appears she did not fully watch the documentary. If her questions were for the viewers who might not have seen it, some sort of introduction or context is still very important to help set the tone of the interview. I think thats part of why the interview felt awkward and why many people are saying Drew focused more on herself than Paris. If you want to connect to someone through shared experiences, you need to first be an active listener, and part of that is often by acknowledging, and including follow up questions to what the interviewee says. Drew says this interview will be different from others Paris' has been through since the film was released, saying that there won't be a disconnect since she has been where Paris was. She lists some of the horrible things they both went through, but then later on almost invalidates Paris and other survivors while putting in her own experiences, even saying I have to tell you, the people at my place were really good", and goes on to basically say she deserved to be there for being a rebellious kid. She closes that statement by saying it was a good thing for her in the end, and you can see Paris growing more tired by the time Drew asked if it "fixed something" for her. It seemed a bit insensitive given the way she led up to the question; if she had instead framed it in line with the documentary, where Paris said SHE made herself stronger IN those places, not that those places were good for her.
the most weird thing of it all, is that they know each other since they were kids. Drew seemed like it was the first time meeting Paris. And yes you could see how Paris seemed to think "seriously?" it was very disrespectful to Paris's pain about her experience.
Oh my goodness... the fact that this comment has so many likes astounds me. Did any of you not notice how Drew making it all about herself (plus that cringey scream at the end, esp. when she did such a poor job of interviewing) and asking really shallow, ignorant questions, showing no compassion for Paris’ experience, as if she didn’t even watch Paris’ documentary?!?
This interview made me never want to watch Drew’s show. How do you tell someone who went through trauma, takes years to speak on it, and is actively trying to shit a school down... “I went through something similar and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.” Minimized Paris’ feelings. Loyalty to her family or being close should have nothing to do with this. What was the point of this Drew??? Smh... I hope she publicly apologizes to Paris at some point. This was not okay.
There’s literally no follow back just non-related questions one after the other. Hard to believe they’ve grown up together because yeah, no. I think drew needs to distance herself from the acting and giving interviews side and move to listening and responding because this wasn’t great. Rooting for Paris, she’s so brave ❤️
@@queenelizabee7246 downplaying what happened to Paris by trying to empathize, saying that she went through the same experience. Someone may go through the same thing, but that doesn't mean their experience is the same. Not everyone will have the same emotions or strength to endure such experiences.
Markeeta Eve I think you took it the wrong way. She explained how most interviewees come at her a certain way. So she wanted to start it off with “ I’m not coming at you this way. I do understand what happens there” . Like keep in mind drew said she was doing hardcore drugs and said she probably needed it. Paris was just going out at night in New York . I think you took it the wrong way. They know each other their whole lives , they are friends. keep that in mind. Plus this gets edited for us to watch
Wild guess would be because she’s possibly catering to her demographic who are likely moms that blame their kids instead of taking responsibility for their actions and her investors who benefit financially from places like Provo existing I feel like whatever it is she’s clearly had it drilled in her head that Paris is just a spoiled money hungry brat whether she actually believes it or is pandering I obviously couldn’t say. She comes off as very judgmental, critical, and skeptical of Paris’ reality but I also believe she has internalized a lot resentment towards herself based on her behavior that caused her to be in one of those facilities herself considering how in the timeline of our society the difference in how we generally tend to acknowledge and respond to mental health has only very recently come to the forefront of our conversations particularly in regards to things like compassion, understanding, empathy, and even just awareness.
@@Randomstuffifeven I'm almost sure it is a remote interview. They did the same in the Cameron Diaz interview, Drew even said in her website they explain how this was done.
I don't think it always means this. Ot could also be that she subconsciously thinks that the point of Drew's question was to seeing if their relationship is not good and so she makes this head movement to erase any doubt. Like no, it's good. I think people do that as well.
drew: “ the people at my place were really good” “that place really did help me and did save my life” “i wouldn’t change a thing” paris: “all it did was give me trust issues, PTSD, i didn’t deserve to go there” drew i think you have your own issues you need to solve before blatantly disregarding someone’s testimony and traumatic past.
It's like she's competing & wants to sound like she's better than Paris..Like surely You're more f'd up then Me because I turned out great...how bout you?
Drew, you were so rude to Paris. You completely hijacked her life experiences and diminished her pain. Get a grip. You're different people. Not impressed at all
Paris seemed comfortable with her showing that Drew understands in a way that not everyone would. She even told her she made the interview easier and she loved it. So I mean...I get why people would feel a bit iffy and maybe Drew didn't say it well enough but I really think she was trying to show empathy and understanding.
Not trying to sound like a jerk here, but I don’t think interviewing is something Drew should continue doing. Her presentation of the questions were awkwardly aggressive. Someone used the term cringey and I agree. Most importantly, when you interview someone, they’re your guest and they’re there to be in the spotlight. Drew was trying to share that spotlight and it felt like she was using Paris, which is exactly what Paris said she feared in making friends with anyone. I did NOT like this interview. Besides, most of the questions she asked could be answered just by watching the documentary so....this was pointless. And yes, the shriek at the end felt immature. Sorry for the long rant, but this interview was all wrong from the get go.
I couldn't have said it better myself. there really were "awkwardly aggressive". There is no way she watched the whole documentary and now she looks like a fool for not doing so. After watching all of Paris' documentary your heart absolutely breaks for her.
Paris was really kind to Drew; however, I felt that Drew tried to throw SHADE to Paris. Just because Drew was able to handle being tortured, doesn’t mean EVERYONE ELSE should be okay with it.
@@samanthab6642 that's what I'm thinking. it's denial, it's trauma bond. admitting that her mum did this to her and all that shit is probably nothing Drew can mentally handle
@@soyaabed yeah I dont know her so I don't want speak in absolutes but my family is like this. It is okay to admit trauma happened and it hurt you. Not you but you know what I mean.
@@samanthab6642 yeah, same. I don't know enough about Drew to really say what's going on. But that's the feeling I kinda got when watching this interview. Kinda felt bad for Paris, I guess she didn't expect those reactions otherwise she wouldn't have accepted being interviewed by her
Drew keeps saying 'I've been there too'... It doesn't sound like she has been there, if she says she wouldn't change a thing? It sounds like they went to very different schools and had very different experiences.
h k yes but she turned to substance abuse in the first place because she was around so many Hollywood creeps from the age of 7 and wasn’t taught appropriate boundaries, u can see how warped her sense of self was a child in a lot of old interviews and allowing older men to greet her with a kiss, gropey hugs etc.
Such a weird interview. The poor girl was about to cry and Drew just wanted to talk about herself. Wow! I'm happy Paris Hilton came out with her story...now I see her humanity and depth. Experiences like this give you grit, perspective, and empathy for other survivors. God will use Paris to help others.
Alot of "rich" children grow up to be homeless. Intances like this, their trauma is invalid growing up and have to deal with it in ways that aren't necessarily acceptable or healthy. Paris has always been brilliant women. Masking herself as a heiress because people accepted that part about her. and who doesn't need to be accepted? All while experiencing trauma simultaneously that's being treated as invalid. This has potential to open your eyes to people's values and perceptions. Perhaps change the pitch of your voice to cope. She's a goddess hero for having fun and utilizing her business mind. God has already been using Paris.
To me, Paris just seemed likely emotionally exhausted from discussing that part of her documentary at length...she might have wanted more focus on her being a businesswoman, etc.
Its not a great tactic because its not universally effective. But some people do that as a way to help an emotionally distressed person to pull themselves out of their own head and pain for a moment. It works for me, so its natural when i do it out of good nature to attempt to help the person. Yes it backfires! Because it doesnt work for everyone. Yes the person taking that approach will have to learn. But i promise u its out of kindness and concern rather than anything else. If it were out of anything else you wouldnt see an emotionally intelligent, empathetic and compassionate person surrounding that behaviour. But we do , because Drew is those things. So its a mistep in tactics on her part but its very very unlikely to be out of disconcern or neglect or taking things for granted.
Just you not like Paris has not talked about it before just like drew Drew has the right to express her feelings to say that nobody cares apparently you think Perry’s is better I love Paris to but I also don’t think anybody’s going to anybody else
I agree with you. I still don't know what fully have in the Paris. I know more about what happened to Drew them Paris and it was about Paris the interview supposedly
Can't stand her, and like many friends of mine who have same trauma in their past, Paris Hilton doesn't seem to recognize the "not genuine", let's say it like that.
Yes I felt an uncomfortable vibe from Paris at the end. In that moment, it was like Drew was seeking validation from Paris about the quality of interview (self-serving, selfish) instead of just keeping the focus on her guest (as most interviewers would do) and finishing on a strong note asking more about Paris or what she’s doing next.
Different folks different strokes. Some people go to prison and come out of it improved. Also they went to different correctional institutions. I think Paris was sent to a really abusive one.
Trauma and tragedy teach us important things. Obviously, a person would not choose such things. However, life brings suffering . Her comment reflects having grown despite hardship. Criticisms is not warranted.
@@sebmad1976 i think they're not even in the same room, feels like they gave the questions to paris and then drew recorded a video asking the questions
I understand that Drew was trying to connect to Paris' experiences but she kinda just made the entire interview about herself lmao. Paris barely got to tell her story. Yes they may have experienced terrible abusive practices at institutions but their journey and story are not the same.
Yeah yeah yeah... next question not listening... me me me...i remember your mom... me.. I ... And the high school scream at the end - "i was the best interview!!" blah
Or maybe Paris didn't WANT to tell her story. Maybe she doesn't feel comfortable talking about the abuse she went through. Seemed to me that Drew was trying to focus more on Paris' road to recovery while comparing it to her own. I'm quite sure Paris felt much more comfortable talking about how her life is better now than it was.
Drew said on Howard Stern's show a couple years ago how she's sooo glad she went to those institutions (wasn't even the same school as Paris') because they straightened her out but here she's all "I get you, Paris" 🙄

Paris Hilton's eyes say she's sad. Even her beauty can't hide her sadness. I just want to give her a hug.
True ! Me too
Same she still hurting. ♒️
She's sad because her partying years are over and she doesnt know where to go from there. That's why she's sad. She needs meaning in her life... and meaning doesnt mean Instagram and parties.
Its lonely to be on top
Me too!
Paris looks so sad and so pretty at the same time
It’s the eyelashes .... ;)
Doesnt she.... it's what happens when things like that happen to u as a child. And your left to fend and grow up yourself.... shes very lucky she has her family as many people take the wrong route
I have a strong feeling she is going to bounce back and be better than ever!
agree with you. Saddness in here eyes. I did not see her documentary - but will take a look this week.
mandyjjones J her family caused paris’s trauma
I feel like now is the time for Paris to leave the character she created and held on to behind. After watching the documentary, people will accept and support her true self.
But her buissness revolved around this image, so she also have to ditch everything she built so far because it is all "fake" the voice, outfit, interest... and I'm not sure that's what she want probably after her billion.
Lucia Sebo I agree and she is a grown woman now, this so good for her development.
People are already accepting her as she really is.
the sadness in Paris's eyes overall ... then her eyes got sadder and a deep frown when Drew starts saying she went through similar... Paris has such a sweet soul, empathy and compassion
I noticed that too. Her eyes shifted and one could see her empathy/sympathy for Drew.

You can see the pain on Paris's face when Drew mentions she went through it too :(
I know 🥺
Probably because she feels alone about it.
I think they all knew but couldn't do anything about it
But then Drew kinda dismisses it because she said it helped her. I think her and Paris definitely had different experiences because she was physically assaulted and abused. It was just a scared straight situation.
Yeah. And when she talked she dropped the fake voice for a minute.
I can't believe that Drew asked her if this torture school "fixed her". I love that Paris said "I didn't deserve to go there" beautifully said.
@Bruce Waynezz I think there are different sorts of these schools. Some of them do as advertised, many don't.
She went to a correctional school but the difference was they were actually trying to rehabilitate her.
Paris didn't need "fixing" in the first place. Drew made this interview about herself.
There's sadness in Paris' eyes. Anyone who can survive abuse is one tough cookie.
Agreed 💜
Omg😳😳😱😱😱🥺🥺

💯
Yes!
thanks for noticing and commenting this. i'm disgusted with Drew's behavior and coldness.
Well said, completely agree
Right? She was like a robot or something
The questions sounded so scripted
Maybe she’s just trying to keep the show bosses happy it’s the first season ...she seemed nice to me she actually told her story too and compared the experiences ...
I literally thought it was a comedy sketch at first...she sounds like a parody.
Paris looked so happy to genuinely have a conversation in the beginning and then the conversation just got so negative so quick
I didn't really care about the way Drew handled this interview. She totally dismissed Paris' experience. Instead, she talked about what a great experience she had. Terrible

She's trying to make excuses for her past, 20 years later? Going to drew was the right choice because no one even knows who she is anymore. Her main audience is millennials.
Wow agreed
Omg, notice how paris' her voice changes into her character voice once Drew is being selfish and dismissive over Paris' experience.
You can literally hear Paris return behind her character. Wow. Speechless.
Where in the time line? I cant tell the difference.

Drew was never being selfish or dismissive. She was being completely cool and relatable. Paris was the one acting weird.

It's honestly better without a studio audience.
Yes!

Exactly my thought❤️❤️❤️.

I agree! Drew went on to say that place saved her life!!! My mouth dropped! It was insensitive!
Completely appalling
She also lied and said she’d been where Paris has been. She said she was in solitary confinement then toward the end said she hadn’t.
Drew Is a NARCISSISTS OR SOCIOPATHA
It would be different if she never said she could relate to Paris and went through the EXACT same thing. It's like tricking her to opening up and dismissing her experience completely.
I feel like during most of the interview Paris was very real, open and honest. But the second that Drew asked her about needing outside validation and social media, she put her walls back up and got in character as the Paris Hilton most people know. I still think it's a huge step just sharing what happened to her and allowing herself to become vulnerable to tell her story, that's a big deal.
OK, I thought I was imagining that! Her voice changed and everything. That's some protective high walls she has. I don't blame her. 😔
Yes!!!! Omg thank you. Yes, this. I literally saw her shift
I love how calming Paris is, even when she is talking about something difficult for her. She is a very classy lady
This whole interview made a mockery of Paris’ documentary. Drew was talking about her experience as if she went to the same concert as Paris... like”omg me toooooo twinssss” like no... this is abuse and not okay. This whole interview was fake.

The pain in Paris’ eyes is heartbreaking.

Nikysha Doyle Yep, although she was overage it was bad. Because it wasn’t released through consent on Paris part.
@Sabrina Murphy Soooo experiencing abuse from terrible schools was the answer? How about sending her somewhere reputable and healthy.
Why is Drew only talking about herself in every response? This is just making me cringe and feel bad for Paris.
The name of her show should tell you why she’s talking about yourself. Drew is also doing this to feel more of a connection towards her guests. I find it a shame when hosts do this.

I can’t imagine how betrayed you would feel by your parents after this.
He was tortured and brainwashed.
Was it CEDU? Elan? Straight incorporated? Name names!
When Paris uses her real voice, she’s opened her doors and allowed us to see her. Her voice goes up in pitch when she’s hiding something.
No, they just changed topics... to something positive.

I think that’s called the look of empathy, I don’t think it’s being miserable.

Paris went straight back to her fake persona st the end. This was a bs interview and she saw right through it. Drew tried but failed to resonate with Paris. This is a 0/10. Bragging how your experience was better was cold.

I saw that too
It almost seemed like Paris was about to cry from the relief of feeling understood, and then Drew said, "I wouldn't change a thing" about her own experience-- completely invalidating, and even worse than a normal interview because she set her up to feel supported.
KLaurel true ! Listening is important in any conversation
Good advice
K laurel I think your right I didn't like the interview at all on Drews part
Why ? It's the drew berrymore show
January Babe No. What it does is it psychologically makes the interviewee (Paris) come comfortable because she is talking to someone who’s not just sympathetic but CAN RELATE.
celebrities are narcs
@Sarah Antalis Frankly, I missed the whole part where Drew said she wouldn't change a thing. If she did, I do agree with you 100%. That said, my comment still stands under normal circumstances. A great example is a recorded interview of Chris Watts (look him up) where the detectives interviewing him were very nice and sympathetic despite his crime. An interviewer needs to be "impartial" to be able to get an interviewee to open up - this is journalism 101.

Yikes. Kind of uncomfortable the way Drew pushed the “I’m not like other interviewers” bit.

I don't understand why young Paris could not live with her parents and sister.
Couldn’t agree with you more. So graceful Paris. Drew is on drugs while interviewing for sure.
@@chetkh Well...then I guess Drew took some injections of Narcissism.

I get that Drew want to discuss her own experience, but that was not the time to do it. Just plain tacky. Paris handled it very well.
No shes fine..
I don't think she was putting the attention to herself. She was basically making Paris comfortable in knowing that she's walked through her shoes & their stories are unfortunately the same as far as having a dark stage, so if anything she was allowing her to know that she understood her completely.

If you’ve watched Drew for years, she’s not one to interview but you have a back and forth interview, often times say a little something to get more from others. Drew needs to be more into interviewing than doing a regular conversation.

I disagree.. she shared but mostly listened to Paris

Drew,
My experiences were much different than yours.
Thank you for sharing your story, Julie. I hope every last person commenting reads it. ❤️
Oh my god ! Thank you so much for sharing your story , you are extremely brave and a survivor !

If it were me, I wouldn't have appreciated someone comparing my deeply traumatic experience with their own and then saying how it was "the best thing for them". I think that is being insensitive, and besides it's not the other person's story, it's Paris' in this case..
This 🙌
Yes it's very minimizing
Very- I hope this will be addressed by Drew. Very very concerning.
💯% agree!!!!
Drew said on Howard Stern's show a couple years ago how she's sooo glad she went to those institutions (wasn't even the same school as Paris') because they straightened her out but here she's all "I get you, Paris" 🙄 The way she MINIMIZED the childhood abuse these people have suffered......
If Paris has gone through what she went through and came out this strong and amazing. There’s also hope for Britney.
They just dont leave Britney alone
What happened to Brittney?
This interview was toxic. Paris is trying to make a change and prevent other kids from going through what she went through and Drew was completely disrespectful of that. You could tell she didn’t even watch the documentary because right off the bat she asks if Paris had talked to other people who went through what she did. Those other survivors were IN THE MOVIE. 🙄 The “best interview” was Paris with her mask back on. I’m so sorry Paris. You deserved better!
Drew is a bad host and interviewer!
Drew was gaslighting Paris.
she asked so the audience who hadn't watched it would know
Drew Barrymore was exactly like the prettiest girl back in my High School days, BEFORE I used to envy her physical beauty, she had that type of skin where she looks like she's wearing makeup she never dealt with pimples or dark circles the entire years of high school, her teeth were already perfect for braces, while I was getting bullied during those years for how I used to look, my teeth still needed braces and also I started making efforts such as putting a natural looking makeup covering up my dark circles *SHE SHAMED ME FOR IT AND EXPRESSED HOW IRRITATED SHE IS SAYING I ONLY CARE HOW I LOOK LIKE* when she even sees me trying my best to study, just because she has a HIGH I.Q and I am struggling with my LOWER I.Q that no matter what kind of study I do even with a tutor I still fail, I felt like every student's nightmares were being thrown to me, she even ask "Don't you ever care about your studies even just a bit?" I only gave her the death stare and did not answered her at all.
How can someone looks sooo sad and beautiful at the same time! I’m happy she’s living a life she’s happy with. Go Paris and Drew, overcoming hardship.
I think it's honesty and humility to share a traumatic event and not hide and avoid talking about difficult things that makes people look beautiful.
Paris was so real. Drew made it sound like a zoom meeting....
Not everyone can just be a talk show host. This is a perfect example.
lol I was thinking the same thing. So forced and awkward
Kelly Clarkson sure can! XD personality is important
I've never seen a host put that much physical space between themselves and the person they are interviewing. All of Drew's body language and the way she spoke only further showed up the space between them. The set looks too sterile and Drew too scripted. I don't think this is really for her.
Yeah this is soooooo bad
@@oodles_of_noodles. The physical distance is probably due to Covid, but everything else is Drew.
Yea i felt the same way.. Surprised everybody thinks drew did great in this interview
Why not explore how abused and clearly still brainwashed Drew is?
Charlotte exactly
This rebranding of Paris is genius, I never really related or thought much of her until she was honest about her experiences now I’m obsessed with her, and have such a high level of love and respect for her as a woman. The way she said they - her torturers could never take away the core of who she is in her book, I thought this woman is a one of a kind, using trauma to start manifesting her dream life. Incredible woman!
Same ❤️❤️❤️
what happened to her?
She's EVIL.THATS WHY
@@j4kgang921 well, that's very helpful, ty.
It saved her life and her experience and out look are not your to control. The same is true for your experiences and outlook.
Did anyone else see the minute that Paris put up her wall with Drew in the interview? It was down for a while then it went right back up as Drew kept talking.
Yup I think Paris gets use to put up a wall to protect herself.
@@chelevio8901 Seems like the baby voice is also a protective mechanism. Thats pretty upsetting to see her treated that way.
I could be wrong but I got the impression they were being ambiguous with Paris’ story because of the launch of her documentary.
Hi, Cara Mia
I think she was trying to make her feel comfortable.
Been where
She was just trying to let her know she isn't alone and others have been in her shoes. She needs other people who have been through it. So i disagree with what you said
Paris has such sad eyes. I can tell that she has been through a lot of trauma. Paris is actually a sweet and intelligent lady.
First talk show host that asks all the right questions.
And also didn't interrupt constantly
Drew is very intelligent and she a true Celebrity with a Heart.
I 2nd that:) thank you:)
Right? Great interviewer
“I went through something similar and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.”
Minimized Paris’ feelings.
Why does it seem like Drew is downplaying Paris experience and trying to make her feel like she was responsible for the horrendous treatment??
That’s definitely not what I took away from this. Where do you see that?
@@queenelizabee7246 downplaying what happened to Paris by trying to empathize, saying that she went through the same experience. Markeeta Eve ah yea I noticed she talked about herself a lot but it looked edited so I didn’t think it looked that bad but rewatching it helped
Wild guess would be because she’s possibly catering to her demographic who are likely moms that blame their kids instead of taking responsibility for their actions and her investors who benefit financially from places like Provo existing
I feel like whatever it is she’s clearly had it drilled in her head that Paris is just a spoiled money hungry brat whether she actually believes it or is pandering I obviously couldn’t say.
Drew: I know the trauma you've been through.
Also Drew: My experience saved my life. How about yours?
Loco. I'm stuptified by her comment. Perhaps it was as a result of editing.
Why is she talking to Paris like she's not a native speaker lol.
I have the feeling they were doing a remote interview and somehow made a good stage edit (?)
you can tell she’s just being careful with her words bc of the sensitive topic
@@Randomstuffifeven I'm almost sure it is a remote interview. They did the same in the Cameron Diaz interview, Drew even said in her website they explain how this was done.

When asked about her relationship with her mother, Paris says "we're closer than ever" while shaking her head "no".
I don't think it always means this. Ot could also be that she subconsciously thinks that the point of Drew's question was to seeing if their relationship is not good and so she makes this head movement to erase any doubt. Like no, it's good. I think people do that as well.
Paris looks extremely sad. There is a sadness behind her eyes that is palpable. But the rainbow only comes after a storm.

Paris seemed comfortable with her showing that Drew understands in a way that not everyone would. She even told her she made the interview easier and she loved it. So I mean...I get why people would feel a bit iffy and maybe Drew didn't say it well enough but I really think she was trying to show empathy and understanding.

Change the title to Drew Barrymore dismisses Paris Hilton as she tries to open up about her past trauma

She ain't no Oprah! Zero compassion
I couldn't have said it better myself. there really were "awkwardly aggressive". There is no way she watched the whole documentary and now she looks like a fool for not doing so. After watching all of Paris' documentary your heart absolutely breaks for her.
Her show won't last
Paris was really kind to Drew; however, I felt that Drew tried to throw SHADE to Paris.
Just because Drew was able to handle being tortured, doesn’t mean EVERYONE ELSE should be okay with it.
Or she uses denial to cope and says she was able to handle it.

I have always seen Drew as a very troubled person and now it shines through even more. That place did not help her, she is insane as f*ck.
Drew keeps saying 'I've been there too'... It doesn't sound like she has been there, if she says she wouldn't change a thing? It sounds like they went to very different schools and had very different experiences.
Or Drew is a psycho. I hope this is revisited.
Yeah surely Drew witnessed at least other kids being abused, this shouldn't be a 'school'
Drew just prob has thick skin
h k yes but she turned to substance abuse in the first place because she was around so many Hollywood creeps from the age of 7 and wasn’t taught appropriate boundaries, u can see how warped her sense of self was a child in a lot of old interviews and allowing older men to greet her with a kiss, gropey hugs etc.
Two airheads. This is what's wrong with Hollywood. This show won't last long. Hollywood is destroyed thanks to them! Good work.
Intances like this, their trauma is invalid growing up and
have to deal with it in ways that aren't necessarily acceptable or healthy.
Paris has always been brilliant women.
Masking herself as a heiress because people accepted that part about her.
and who doesn't need to be accepted?
All while experiencing trauma simultaneously that's being treated as invalid.

Perhaps change the pitch of your voice to cope.
She's a goddess hero for having fun and utilizing her business mind.
God has already been using Paris.
a;ll exacturated as we know when we have been battered
exactly, that's what I was thinking.
Did anyone else come out of this interview feeling like they learned more details about Drew’s experience than Paris’ experience, or is that just me?
Go watch Paris film to hear more.... that’s why probably.
