appreciate your "gentle" etiquette education. this is rare in UA-cam tennis channels.

If you wouldn't do it during a movie or play in the theater, then don't do it at the tennis court. ❤

It is a consequence from the idea that money can buy anything. People who follow this believe they paid for it. Fans to be truly fans, they ought to learn the sport's rules without the rules.

Totally different in Thailand, Viet Nam and other Asian countries. When someone makes a mistake...everyone laughs with enthusiasm. It happens all the time and it is not considered impolite. It's a way of keeping the game less stressful for the players. It's actually supportive. Laugh at your mistakes!! This is supposed to be fun!!
Tournaments are a different story. Everyone is very "considerate", in the way you are speaking about.
Marin County tennis courts are very unfriendly compared to other public courts. Lots of prima-donna attitudes at every level

Americans and some athletes are full of themselves. They demand respect and sometimes they don't deserve it.
I don't think players play for the spectators. They play for themselves and the money.
