have to admit, I laughed a lot after seeing your mousepad. this setup is the most: "open source, fuck windows, gonna do everything in terminal" I've seen
As an audiophile if you want a good pair of cheap headphones, look into the ksc75. There isn't anything better until the sennheiser hd560s, and the ksc can serve as a great entry point into modding :)
Awesome setup man especially the keyboard and mousepad lol and i probably need a lamp, for me its just one laptop with an external mouse and keyboard, because its an hp elitebook (their keyboard sucks alot and the keys break often). 4 years, same setup. Linux runs much faster, cooler and just works unlike windows, which needs all additional hp firmware crap to just being able to change brightness from keyboard. Not to mention i hear the fan all the time on windows, cpu spikes to 100% after opening any program. I still have it on an external ssd if i want to make or install a mod for a game because extracting and repacking an exe file on linux breaks it. All work done on linux, all gaming is also done on linux since i get better performance.
Mine is a x220. I like it because it is small and fits my smaller computational needs(not gaming, mediocre video editing experience, etc). His brother is the T420(i believe), and it is more customizable at the hardware level(you can change cpu). If you are looking for something a little bit more powerful, you should check the x230/t430, but they don't have the traditional ibm keyboard. Overall, all of those laptops boast a great linux compatibility, I don't know if this is the case for newer thinkpads.
Thats such a beautiful keyboard! It's connector is DI and adapter to Ps/2 right? I have one similar of the brand BTC but with lots of problems to use on windows 10. Was it easy to configure on linux?
I made a whole video on that keyboard. The connector is a DIN 270° which is converted with a teensy board to USB, normal adapter won't work with those "terminal" keyboards. The converter is ugly and home made.
Which WM are you using? Since the bar is on top, I don't know if it's i3, Awesome or XMonad. Great setup by the way, especially with the glass table to see your notes
I have one of those original keyboards gathering dust in store. Be interesting to get it working with ps2 keyboard port. Think it’s UK or US layout. I’ve been using IBM model 30 keyboard for 20yrs. Where did you get the replacement keycaps? Thanks 🙏
Didn't buy them but Ebay is full of people selling them. By the way be carefull with the adapter. Old IBM keyboards sometimes require a specific converter and a mere adapteris not enought(it is what I had to solder for mine). There is a very well made guide on geekhack/deskthority by user Soarer.

edit: I suppose with "good music" you mean russian darkwave/post-punk or i will be disappointed
Ahahahah, well kinda. Nowadays I more into Italian Prog music but sure, wouldn't mind listening to molchat doma with a good pair of headphones
omg that keyboard is such a need
Absolutely!
somewhere around I have a box of them
@@royschultz1377are tou giving them out orrrrrr lol
Send me one @@royschultz1377
one of the coolest setups ive seen by far, just honest and purposeful
Thank you!
the paper mousepad is so relatable
that ibm keyboard is making me drool
At 3:52 the term I believe you are looking for is audiophile, great setup btw!
Yeah, definitely! Thanks!
I was thinking you might have been thinking of a (audio) DAC?
Well kinda...I'm also going to need a new pair of headphones since those you see in the video are kinda shitty for music.
bro got that Steins Gate set up. very nice
this is actually the ost inspirational set up ive seen in a while just so pure and utilitly driven
Thank you so much!
I wish I had more desk space to keep my large keyboards and transfer information from my notes into org files. Very clean set up. Best of luck.
thanks to UA-cam for suggesting this, cool setup !
Thank you!
> edited with ffmpeg
What a chad
Keyboard so big it have space for a ashtray on the right , like those old arcades
Pretty neat! I have the larger version of your laptop (T420) and a 101 key IBM Model M.
I do actually have a classic IBM Model M, but I didn't bring it to college.

I dug up some researches and it ends up those headphones are probe to breaking. Is that true?
@@CptEdward I've had mine for a long time and they've been fine, just treat em with care and they should last ages.
I find it sad that the padding on the headsets always breaks so quickly.
Are you Finnish? I hear a familiar accent. Nice Thinkpad set up.
Thank you! Nope, I am not Finnish, I'm Italian

Linux is just better. Totally feel you. But just buy a dock for the PC and an external monitor
What kind of Thinkpad are you using? I've been interested in getting one to get into Linux

is amazing how your setup looks great and low pricy, but your mouse is so expensive
I love all combination and the mouse is funny jaja
Wheatley appreciates your wallpaper
Swag setup
i have to say this is the best setup ive seen

Awesome!
W setup man, i love it
The aperture wallpaper 💯💯

Great setup by the way, especially with the glass table to see your notes
It is DWM, simple and effective. I was a i3 user but I got mad at it.
Thank you by the way! The table was already in here
Dark themed IBM keyboard and it would be perfect
Expemsive...
Do you mean the unicomp version?
nice mousepad you've got there
actually productive setup, pretty cool
Thank you!
Hell yeah, this is an awesome setup. What kind of work are you doing on that man? I too have a thinkpad and been planing to get some shure headphones.
I mainly use it for studying but also for editing and tinkering
@@CptEdward nice man! What do you study?
Linguistics!
I also use a paper as my mouse pad

O, you got an IBM mechanical keyboard, so miss it
Best keyboard ever made in my humble opinion
The just a normal Linux user 😅
bro it's a mordan days
A nice mechanical keyboard!
And it can even be argued that it is not a mechanical keyboard
I love this setup ❤ can you please tell me what exactly commands going on the monitor 1:24
Left monitor: clear && cowsay "leave a lie" & sleep 1h
Right monitor: htop
@CptEdward Thank you, sir
L’unica cosa che manca a questo video è Emacs + Org mode per gestire appunti e orario delle lezioni :D
Troppo bloat, vim o carta e penna.
Grampa called he wants his keyboard back😂

@@CptEdward thanks for the heads up. I saw the current requirements can be higher than quite a few ps/2 also so usb is the way to go :-)
What a fucking chad
The mouse works on glass. You don't need that "mousepad".
Yes I know, but I still want something undernerth the mouse to "protect" the rubbers
That set up looks older than me...
The keyboard is from the 80's and the pc from the 10's
And judging by the radiator and the sunblind, the house is clearly italian and built in the '70.
damn it looks so cool
very good
College edition as in you're the college professor?
Not yet, still a graduate student

Welcome to extreme cheapskate setup wars😂
Do you want great audio for cheap? Use IEMs instead of headphones
I was kinda planning to buy a pair of IEMs. Do you reckon they may be uncomfortable to wear for long period of time?
It depends on the shape of the IEMs and eartips. I recommend the spinfit eartips
that's a very nice setup sir
Thank you sir!
