Alex, like you said, the swing happens so fast its hard to mentality tell your hands into these positions. The only way we would really know if these positions are achieved if they are measured with a device like Hackmotion, or the good resulting flight & carry distance of the ball. I believe most golfers understanding the proper positions our hands need to in to properly strike the ball. I've tried for years, off and on, to try to train my hands to do the "wave & roll", slow practice swings, trying to get the feel, then actually trying at real speed, sometimes good, sometimes bad! What I have discovered recently is to let my mind tell my hands and body "what to do" instead of body trying on its own. I have found success with my driver by looking at the ball and aiming to strike it in an ascending direction at the 4:30 position (ball perpendicular to me is 6:00)...my best and longest drives ever!
This is honestly the most simple explanation that I have gotten to date for shallowing the driver. I’m 45 but in great shape and weigh 208lbs and I only hit the driver around 220 yds. I honestly do your practice drill with the feet together flares out whenever I hit my driver on the course…I only get 220 yds but I can put it where I want. I will be trying this tomorrow and hopefully it’s the lightbulb moment for me. Great video as usual Alex!
I’ve been majorly struggling with driver myself. 44 years old, in great shape, swing my 7 iron around 88mph, yet my driver sucks. I’ll have days when I hit it 220 and then it rips off to the right and no matter what I can’t get it straight. Then I’ll have days where I’m hitting it pretty damn good about 275 with a little fade. Then I go back to the range again, thinking I’ll pick up where I left off, and it’s back to the old stuff. It’s so aggravating, cause I hit my irons very well. I used to play random my from the ages of 18-28, but never practiced or anything. Stopped from 2008 until this spring. I’ve always been good with my irons, but for whatever reason I’m as inconsistent as you can be with driver. Definitely gonna try this and hopefully it helps, cause it’s really annoying when I can hit my 3 iron better than my driver
@@atamagashock I’m great with my wedges and my 9 and 8 iron but the 7 is iffy sometimes and I won’t even attempt to hit a 5 or 4 iron. I have hybrids for my 4 and 5 and they get me out of a lot of jams. I think I’m not enough arms if that makes sense. It’s like I’m rotating too much and not getting the speed in that smash factor zone. I just need different swing thoughts I think. Good luck to you bro…the game we love to hate🤦🏻♂️
Great video this is exactly what I need as I am prone to casting and throwing club from top in an effort to get back to the ball causing high shots together with lack of distance. Will try this.
Great attempt at explaining a feel Alex but most unfortunately won’t get it and still proceed to yank the club down. In a word it’s “cast.” 😊 Think about it and I’m sure you’ll figure it out fairly quickly.
@@AlexElliottGolf ex cricketer with lack of wrist in the golf swing, this is what I need as I hit a little draw every time. Will work on this once I'm fit from my hernia op 😵💫
@@AlexElliottGolf will do, won't be for a few months, but definitely a draw shot is what I need in my bag. I know the perfect line for my fade, will take my one brain cell a while to get use to setting up differently when we get round to it. Great videos, well explained, and easy listening 👏👏👏👏👏

Couldn't agree more! this is a great point!

I hope that this helps you
Tried this a few times but I hit the ground before I hit the ball. Any tips?
Best golf coach on UA-cam!
Wow thanks Alex I’ve just hit 400 yards consistently doing this 😮
Keep practicing. You’ll get better.
Let’s have a Danny Maude v Alex Elliot 9 holes stroke play
Let’s get it done….👍🏼 hahah
Yeh I’d like to see this
Alex gotta pump that ball speed up! But I believe
Is this part of the 4 o'clock "casting" movement you introduced some time ago?
Can you just clarify if this move is just for a driver swing or can it be used for an iron as well?
excellent. thank you.
is this for all clubs too?
Best swing thought ever!
Uuuhhhh wait did you just mention making a perfect sponge cake? who are you the Julia Child of Golf??
Interesting you hit a little cut with that. Maybe the exaggerated motion was at play but, I thought that was notable.
Sweet. 😁
Thanks! 👍
