Bill and Anne Collins. As a young man 12-13 years old (1973) I met Bill Collins. Bill was a numismatist (coin collector). Bill was in his 80's but still had time to mentor a young coin collector. I remember Bill handing me a silver dollar at a coin show from 1799. Bill told me to go sell it and I could keep the profit. He had priced well under the market value so that I could make a profit. Bill was also mentoring another young collector (Patrick Colbert) the president of the American State bank in Bloomington. I also had a checking account there when I was 14 years old. God Bless!!
Very sad. I remember riding horses there as a kid. Also they had miniature gas John Deere tractors, & small single seat train hand cars that we could ride.
And just like that a piece of my childhood is gone forever☹️!! At least I have the memories.
I legitimately just cried... I grew up down the street from there and that place was a staple of my childhood.

Another part of my life and childhood gone because of some dumb disagreement. I loved Kiddieland so much.

This is like the saddest thing ever
A lost landmark of Melrose Park, Illinois.
It became Costco. They should bring Kiddieland Back
THAT IS SO SAD..................
Another piece of history died. I heard & read that it closed due to a land rental disagreement between family members. SAD
About 90 years of history gone just like that!! So sad!
81*
Kiddieland lost its ground in 2009.
A dam bummer what's there now ?
Costco
what happened it just got closed down
Dispute with the family. Half owned the park, half owned the land
jadedheart30 they couldnt pay it anymore
I bet the Great Recession of 2008 was behind the killing of Kiddieland!
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MONEY, IT WAS A DISAGREEMENT WITH THE LEASE!
