Would be wonderful to see her run again! Can’t wait to see what’s “in store for 2024” Bob, thank you for the video! Would be wonderful to see her and C&O 490 from the B&O Museum do a doubleheader movement if someone would restore her!
Thanks for watching and I agree 614 and 490. The yellow belly has been at B&O forever Im not sure what shape its in but would need class 1 overhaul at this point as well as 614. There is supposed to be movement with 614 in 2024-25 and restoration by 2026. Seeing both would take alot of money but anything's possible.
@@BobsOGaugeTrains I saw that back in the day Ross had looked at 490 before getting 614 to replace 2101, he said it was “ran hard and put up wet” or something along those lines. Needed a lot more work than 614 did at the time, can’t imagine it’s any better now where it spent all those years outside
@@BobsOGaugeTrains I actually also had another question my friend I’m sorry, a lot of people have speculated Ross had 614 close to if not over 100 mph on the runs back in the 90’s, is there any truth to this? Will the loco actually do 125 as stated, and has Ross actually pushed her close to, if not over 100?
HI BOB.....I WORKED WITH ROSS /PAUL HARLAND/ERICK AND JEFFERY AT THE NEW HOPE AND IVY RR BACK IN THE EARLY 1999-TO 2005 I REQUARDS THIS ONE OF MY BEST EMPLOYMENT...THANKS AGAIN RON BUTLER NOW 75 YEARS OLD..
Wow glad to hear from you, how times flies. I spent two summers down there,. Everyone was fantastic to me; I especially remember both Paul Harland and Eric Hessler.
OH YES PAUL AND ERICK AND I SPENT MANY A NIGHT IN THE NEWLY OPENED BAR AND GRILL THAT WAS THE CONTINENTAL CAN FACTORY THAT WAS THERE WHEN I FIRST ARRIVE THEN THE RENAVATION AND WE LOST OUR SPEAR OVER TO THE PLANT..OH ROSS WAS ALSO A COMEALONG WHEN HE WAS IN TOWN RUNNING THE OLD 40 DOWN THE TRACKS..WHAT FUN WE HAD BACK IN THE DAY..TKS RON
Now I know where the 614 ended up. It was stored for a period of time at NJ Transit's MMC. I used to see it in passing from our train. The cab signal devices in the cab would have to be upgraded to PTC. The one car that is painted red is probably a bunk car. We had one at Dover, NJ in the old yard. The Scranton boys would reside there for the week, then drive home to Scranton for the weekend. Great informative video.
Thank you for watching Gary. yes 614 was at5 MMC in Kearny for several years. I was there several times to see it. it was a real pleasure to see 614 doe three full days.

thank you Mikey it was a ton of fun being there. I worked this engine for six years. The trips ended and they moved her. First time in nearly 20 years I got to see it again, and it was fantastic. I'm glad you've enjoyed the journey.
I liked the way you described all the controls and how they were utilized. I never knew the grates in the fire box could be lifted and move coal as the train was in motion. It’s the process of how someone thought this out to make a better utilization of the fuel.
Very nice Videos on the 614 , Fell in love with her when I acquired the lasted MTH version .So …….when or will she Run again . You know something we don’t know ? Lol Thanks Bob awesome!
@@BobsOGaugeTrains can I ask why you think there will be something in the works for 614 during 2024? I can't really think of anything unless Ross Rowland decides to do an American Freedom Train 2.0 in 2026, and that's what your referring to.
About 60 miles from Cass scenic r.r. and south down I 81 is the Virginia transportation museum. Also there is a dinner train you can catch out of staunton Virginia that runs to the afton mtn tunnel. I live in Waynesboro va and love the area.
I cant give you my source but I spoke with as high up as you can get, although nothing is dated there is very high confidence 614 will be moved in early 2024 for restoration.

Bob,

Thanks for watching, Im pretty sure your correct. I can double check with the Heritage Center and Historic Society.

Has there been any talks about restoring the engine back to operational condition or is it just speculation?

Did Lionel ever make the 614 Bob?
