The "certain people" are relatives and friends of the staff at Lancashire police who are trying to deflect the fact it's a Mickey mouse outfit by demonising the one person who knows exactly what he's doing, who exposed the total incompetence and amateurish way the case has been handled.

They could have easily stated from the start that she is highly vulnerable due to mental health issues, left it just as that like they have with others who have gone missing, instead of detailing a specific personal problem. I agree, they should not have issued any statement detailing specifics, stating that Nicola was vulnerable because of mental health issues would have sufficed. The person(s) leading this investigation should have utilised the expertise of Peter and his team to it's full potential and in order to do that they needed to allow for some free reign on where to search and act upon feedback received from Peter himself and it appears that wasn't the case because he was under strict instruction

I will not rescind my comments on Mr. Faulding. You need to realize that he followed procedure and protocol during his investigation. He was given specific instructions, and that is exactly what he did. You need to be aware that he was not updated with crucial information. If he were, then he would have done things differently. He worked with and adhered the information and the instructions that he was given. What would you have done? If your decision was to choose otherwise, then that would be like one of the trolls on the internet. Besides, what have you done to help? Were you a volunteer? We do not need armchair detectives. THIS FAULDING GUY AGAIN!!??!!?? My God, is he ever going to stop the constant interviews? It's crazy how many he has done now!!
3:59 when Faulding says hes not being critical of the police but just the comms team.....he has criticised the general police EVERY DAY! He has said MANY TIMES that sufficient searches have not been done, that the ground should be beaten down and they haven't done that, that they should be looking for deposition sites, that they should be searching more than just the river, that they are too focused on the river, that they are wrong to search the estuary, that they were wrong to rule out a 3rd party.......HE NEVER STOPS CRITICISING THE POLICE! He is giving multiple interviews to multiple media outlets everyday, saying the same stuff over and over......helping to fuel these conspiracy theories that have been happening.
He said he is the face of the investigation....shouldn't Nicola be the face, be the focus Mr Faulding? He says he is the voice of the family......how can that be when they haven't spoken to him in days?? He offers zero relevant up to date information yet is never out of the media!
He also says he could have been trusted with confidential information and wouldn't have repeated it to the media but how could the police know that? Would you trust someone with private details when they keep putting themselves in front of the camera, even before joining the search he was talking to the media? Maybe Lancs. police probably vetted him and decided it was too risky? Besides, to say the info would have changed his tactics is ridiculous quite frankly.....he is on record, in one of the MANY interviews he gave, stating that the police gave him one specific area to search and that was the area by the bench in the water. Him saying he would have gone down river etc is ridiculous as the police told him where he was permitted to search.
PLEASE STOP GIVING THIS GUY A PLATFORM! SUPPORT THE FAMILY IN THEIR SEARCH FOR NICOLA.

An older person went missing from a care home couple years ago. Local community put a call out on social media to join a search after she was missing couple days.
About 150 of us went to village hall and were put into four search teams all led by couple police officers.
Younger volunteers were tasked with getting in ditches searching and the more difficult areas.
The lady was found unfortunately she had passed away but her family were able to get closure.
As part of the search team we all worked with the police officers and we also were able to give valuable local knowledge of the area.
The police could've done this and got people on their side. I'm sure hundreds of people would of turned up. I know locals were out searching but from what I've read it doesn't appear the police were utilising members of public to their advantage.

@sheffsteel7 by their own admissions they have assumed Nicola has gone into the river so anyone thinking they drove through with a dash cam isn't going to bother checking it. Also, according to Peter and the media, buildings and land close to the river haven't been searched. The lack of action in doing this has led to it being contaminated by countless people from outside the area.

As a trusted police partner of many years Peter Faulding absolutely should have been told about all of the background available to help him conduct the best search possible. The only reason to not do that is ego/territorial behaviour. They didn't like him arriving into the situation because it implied that what they'd already done wasn't the best it could be. That is not putting the best interests of the missing person or their family at the forefront of their activity. If they're intimidated by hi-tech kit and niche specialists then heaven help them. Why are they in the job they're in? To assist the public - not to feather their own nest. I didn't warm to the lead detective, I felt her manner in the press conference was inappropriate and less than open. What a mess. It is a comms/PR disaster but worth remembering that that's not always the Comms team's fault. It's a job I used to do and you frequently get "blocked" by senior members of an organisation who don't understand media relations properly and don't use their PR Comms function in a way that allows a good job to be done. They make decisions about what should or shouldn't be said on different criteria to the ones that good Comms professionals know matter. That's what usually creates the chaos. If you're employing Comms professionals get excellent ones and then make sure you listen to them.

Peter Faulldiing is an expert & he”s a good man. People who speak badly are missed informed…………if people like this man stop talking then it will becomes a cold case. Apart from anything PF & crew worked without pay just kind hearts to find Nicola. I’m more concerned in 3 weeks I’ve only heard her partner say I love her once?

You are making an excellent point here about Peter talking keeping the investigation going longer.
Lancashire police said normally they would be winding up their search at this point.
But because of all the public interest they are continuing.

EGO'S. How many interviews have you done son? It seems 1000's of Sherlock Holmes have decided what has happened. He said "I assumed she went in the river". Surely your job is to search the river and not assume anything. Anything is possible hear so I wouldn't assume anything.

This egomaniac been shouting his mouth of since the start of this. Blabbing all sorts of nonsense. Why on earth would the family or police trust him if they didn't at that time want it to be public about Nicola's health problems. And whether she drowned by accident or by suicide it makes no difference to searching for her body.

This case is getting ridiculous. I strongly believe she isn't in the water. Everything being reported seems to not be focused on finding her. Now information is coming out about her health issues which I really don't think has anything to do with her going missing in my opinion. It just feels like people want to talk about her going missing but no one has any idea of what could have happened to her and its heartbreaking. There's a lot of the public who want to find out but they keep getting bashed by the media for speculating and getting involved. Speculation can have a negative impact on the case but when nothing is moving forward and we aren't getting any closer to the truth more and more people will add to the speculation. That one guy said there's ego's at play.. Ridiculous unacceptable that behaviour should get people taken off the case. The important thing is to find her or find out what happened to her for the sake of her family and friends.
You can't say much work was done. If that was true we'd be closer to the truth but we aren't.

..The alcohol WAS mentioned in the media, certainly on one source, in the very early coverage (as i commented then about her possibly being hung over and stumbling into the water). With due respect to Nicola maybe posters could have been put up in pubs and clubs..if they are serious about finding her. Either the alcohol was a big problem or it wasn't.
