At first the USAAF did not think much of the A20 it was used as a giveaway to the Brits and the Russins but when they gave it such marks in theirs reviews the USAAF changed there minds about this baby
Early A-20G used in the video, interesting in the film about not turning into the dead engine, experienced RAF and RAAF Boston pilots used to demonstrate turning into a dead engine and doing a circuit around an airfield like that, obviously not for beginners.
It was designed primarily as a light bomber. I'm glad this video points out to NOT attempt to try acrobatic maneuvers that would stress the airframe. Doesn't matter that it was a bit of a hotrod. It ain't a fighter.
I was fine when I first watched this. Very understandable. Then I watched it again with CC turned on. Now after references to The Chipmunks and scratching the heads of Minutemen, I don't know WTF is going on...
Hi Rick, the aircraft is in the beginning of my novel about a rich and powerful producer in Hollywood who loses his entire family in a car accident. The A-20 is hanging from the ceiling of a large party room in his mansion. To get him and another character into it I needed to know some basics about the plane and I found this video invaluable.
I thought the A-20 would be fully aerobatic? so it sounds like its g limited. no vertical banks, no sharp pull ups. so no loops, rolls, stall turns etc? were Tupolev Tu-2 and Petlyakov Pe-2 equally limited in aerobatics? Even the P-61 Black Widow and Bf-110 were fully aerobatic. I thought the A-20 was in their class? speed is similar. cool plane tho.
+nick goth Not sure the A20 was intended to be truly comparable to the P61 or bf110. They were designed as fighters. The A20 was primarily alight bomber. It had a bomb bay unlike the other two-- lots more weight to lug around.
+Frederick Kruse think the P-61 was even larger and heavier and also faster and more powerful than the A20, a class of aircraft up maybe? so i'm interested there how both compare flying wise. i'd guess the Bf110 is a class under as its lighter. but say a A20 with half fuel and only pilot, i think it would be quite agile...
Doc's & Simulation Right, war was one thing and the game is something else entirely. Just as a mention to those who like militarism and passionate about military aviation, this bomber plane is

The pilot/instructor is played by the actor James Seay, who would appear in over 200 movies and tv programs from 1939 to 1971.
Really appreciate the footage. I have this very plane in my next novel and I needed to know how someone got in it...
I'm using this for War Thunder Air Sim.
Nice training video.
Also very helpful for IL2 Battle of Kuban

What's the name of your novel?
"you gotta feather the props"...or they will feather you XD
As the son of an A-20 pilot, I'll bite - how does the plane figure in your next novel?

If your barely clearing obstacles on take off you days are numbered.
If you need 5000 feet in a power on stall request a transfer to a different unit.
What a crapper. Hard to believe that Ted Smith may have had a hand in this Turkeys design.
How the a20 defeated the nazi’s in Africa. Oh lord
The would be pilot looks like Peter Gunn! (Craig Stevens)
