I lived next door to a drug dealer who organised "fight to the death" dog fights in his back yard (UK). Bought and now live on a narrowboat to escape that segment of society. Sad to see it leeching out into our lives. Hey don't lose faith, I'm sure it'll be a one off. Chin up and carry on regardless.
I grew up around that area and seeing this took me back, the cut hasn't changed much since the 1980s when I used to walk my dogs along it. I think you are right about the yobs being from somewhere else, Kinver was always a quiet place but we did used to get yobs coming into town from elsewhere from time to time even back then.
I've got 3 Thai ridgebacks, being in the middle of nowhere works both ways , I would have released the hounds lol , see how they like being torn apart.
Hi your video came up in my notifications, and as a liveaboard boater myself, I was very interested in watching it. I'm really sorry that happened to you, and with there being so many very scary. Sadly we are very vulnerable living on a boat, and it's a shame that some young men behave like that, but I'm glad it didn't get physical, and that you are ok. I just wanted to tell you about my experience on the Kennet and Avon canal in Wiltshire. There's a pretty little village which is one of my mooring spots, and it's really easy to get to my car, I always say that I go there for respite, because I have some mobility issues, so it's nice not to have too far to walk to the car. But unfortunately in this village are a couple of people who do not like boaters, and one man actually went to court to try and get the moorings stopped, but the judge laughed it out of court, but asked "Just out of interest, why don't you like the boats mooring there?" The man replied "Cause I don't think it's in keeping with the village " 😳 And this is a mature well to do man, and when I came on the canal ( I'm a female by the way) I had heard that he and his wife were giving the boaters grief, and one of his favourite things to do was to urinate over boaters cars, and put dog poo on the boat and car, and put bags of rubbish by boaters cars. One night my friend was on the back of my boat, and saw, and heard him kicking my car doors and urinating on my car, he didn't do anything about him (mores the pity, )but he was gone when I went out, but I took DNA and called the police. They came out quite quickly, and they could see that I was serious about it, and they said that they would have a word with him, and anyhow he must have had a warning from the police, cause after that he behaved himself, and never did it again. That's all it took to stop him, cause sadly no one had ever seen him doing it, so the police were never called. Hope this doesn't happen to you again, take care, and be safe.
Thanks for your comment. Sorry to hear of your troubles on the k&a. There are some right horrible people out there. Take care and thanks for watching 👍
If your friend actually witnessed the idiot committing Criminal Damage to your vehicle, he ought to have been arrested. Did the police not take a statement from your friend? Disgusting behaviour, what a truly hideous individual.
Just to say, we're not all bad! Those kids / young adults need to learn somehow that they can't just treat people any way they want and that there are consequences. Stay safe and don't let it spoil your peaceful life on the water :)
I enjoyed your video it gave an honest, unromantic view of narrowboat living. the boat life is still appealing to us despite the appaling behaviour of the sum youth you encountered. Good advice is not mooring by public benches.
Hi, just found your videos, great content, you can get this red dye spray on amazon you spray it at them it stays on their skin for days, will help the police find them, its legal to buy and use. When the spray head is depressed this aerosol releases a bright red dye onto the attackers face and clothes causing some discomfort and distraction allowing you to escape and call the police. The red dye is very difficult to remove and will remain on the attackers skin and clothes for several days.
This brought back lovely memories of my years spent as a " water gypsy ".. I had 2 staffies..lovely friendly dogs ..till I whispered " drugies " lol. Any trouble makers outside my boat got the message 🤣. Barking snarling bad enough to move anyone 🥰.

Really enjoyed your video. We do the Thames most years, the canals look to be great fun. We live in Thailand, so for us it's a bit of a journey but worth it. Good old England. Nice well behaved dogs, I don't blame them for playing up a bit going through the tunnels. Hope you have a great summer.
Greetings from Canada! This is the first video of yours that I watched. Very enjoyable, I like your style. So, I subbed up and am looking forward to watching more! Thanks for having me along 👍
Had the same sort of thing at Worsley , fifteen teenage lads rocking my boat as a bit of a laugh , even though I had a fire going and and no way out from the back , could have died , they don't think , just a bit of a laugh . Notice there always laughing even though there's nowt to be laughing about
Simon Haresmith. Their parents do not teach them about respect for themselves or others. Kinver is a posh village with expensive houses, Many of them £1 million plus. Some of them think they own the canals. I took my Grandkids down there one Sunday afternoon. The kids were chasing each other this bloke with a plummy accent started shouting at them, they were disturbing his garden party, a lot of the larger houses back onto the towpath. If I had not had the kids with me I would have explained the facts of life to him.
It’s particularly troubling to experience that sort of behavior in the setting you found yourself. An otherwise serene spot, with you minding your business and not bothering anyone. I’m truly sorry that happened to you.
Its Sad in this Day n Age there are still so many, Low Life Disrespectful Arseholes around, with nothing better to do, great Vlog, and had to chuckle at the Tiller Pin, sort of summed it up for the happenings the night before lol. Cheers n Stay Safe! 😎👍👌😉
Blow your foghorn or set up a button by your bed to do so and set up some great big LED lamps shore side . It gathers attention and would put the wind up them
Greetings from Gold Beach, Oregon where the mighty Rogue River empties into the Ocean Sorry to hear you had trouble. I've had to chase off my fair share of people messing about with boats in the marina. The sense of family with other boaters around the world makes all the grief seem like a brief bad dream. We're all right there with you, if not in person, definitely in spirit. I bought a multi camera system for my RV. It runs on a single battery and a $50 Raspberry Pi with flash memory. Got it as a kit....I think it was $150... The benefit is that I can record in full HD even in the dead of the night. Handy to report a chav. Just found your channel. I grew up boating on the Erie Canal in America hearing my Great grandmother telling tales of the English canals. Her family came during the War. Having discovered all the absolutely amazing narrowboat channels, I'd love to spend some time rediscovering my family's roots on the cut. Until the world calms a bit, I can watch some nice folks living the life, and see some truly exceptional boats. Then again, if it floats, I love it ;) I subscribed, of course, thanks for sharing Keep cranking it ;)
Thanks David for you lovely message. Sadly I think that the time has come to invest in some cameras. Its a sad world that we live in but crime is very rare on the canals but sadly it does happen. Thanks for the message of support, boaters in the UK are a very close knit family and we help each other out as much as we can when possible. Once covid is over you should look into coming over to the UK and hire a boat to discover the canals yourself. If you need any advice then please feel free to message. Once again thanks for you lovely message. Stay safe. Del and the hounds.
Thanks for a really. Good vlog of canal life. Its really good to see everything. Hear the engine and dogs. See the roof of tunnels amazing geology. Sorry to hear you had a bad time. Its not nice and pretty scary. Thank you for filming it the way you did .seeing the locks and how tricky on your it could be sometimes. But you have clearly masterd it. I use to have a greyhound and they are not the best guard dogs but great company. Thanks again and hope the boat and life is going well.
Good luck my friend - Nice little blog. Early on in your vid, Brick walls in the canal, makes you wonder who!, when and why? Unbelievable to see, who does that work?
WiRe LaD. The building of the Stourbridge Arm of that canal was started in 1776. It was all dug by hand, no mechanical diggers. The canals were originally called NAVIGATIONS. which is where the term NAVVIES, came from.
@@THEJR-of5tf Hey thanks for the info. Navvies!! yeah I've heard of them. I live close to really long canal tunnel near Preston Brook. I once watched another canal blogger go through this tunnel which was amazing to see! thanks again. x
Just arrived on your channel, so sorry to see the trouble you had with those nothing useful to do toe rags, hopefully they will get what they deserve one day.
I have often worried when on my narrowboat about idiots on bridges throwing things over for a giggle, I’ve seen washing machines, fridges bikes and allsorts of shit thrown in, If they decided to chuck Something heavy over it could be attempted murder
Just came across your video and just want to say thank you for sharing. It brought back a lot of childhood memories of my time playing along the canal close to me, (Wolverhampton) where I used to be fascinated with the lock gates and how they worked, Narrowboats and the waves hello and goodbye from them, and memories of the sticklebacks, leeches and newts. Sorry that you had to experience such vile behaviour from moronic idiots.
I had to laugh when you gave the engine "some beans" and easily outpaced that old guy walking really slow. Nice one, watch out for the bow wave. Pity about the idiots high on drugs, but not to worry, they'll all come to a bad end.
Sorry to hear about your troubles with these idiots. My boat was round the corner ( you actually went past it when you were talking ) as you say, we are in these places for the quiet life and to enjoy the surroundings and then you get folk like that who have no respect. Safe travels matey
I had a run in with a similar group a few years ago after sailing across the pond. Needless to say they decided to act up because it was 4 on 1. Now I don't condone breaking the law but when the one pulled a knife I kindly showed them that I'd prefer jail over being a victim causing them to trip over themselves running. The worst part was they had the balls to call the cops on me claiming I pulled a gun on them...... Imagine that 😆 Anyway they were arrested and the cops confiscated my ohlins flare gun and as they left the senior officer pulled me aside and recommended I catch the next tide with a smile.
Good morning from Poole, Dorset! Have just found you and loved the blog. Very informative about the areas you passed through and it was lovely weather for you, although cold I should think. Sorry about the trouble you had. It is our dream to travel the canals (the other half says only in the summer months!!! Spoilsport!!!) and are following several boats at the moment to try and get ideas for the boat and canals to travel. Good luck and see you soon, hopefully!
I'm disappointed to hear this. I've run around that stretch of canal for years and also walked and pubbed around Kinver for the past 30 years and NEVER come across any trouble. It is honestly not the norm around there, unfortunately there are scum everywhere that float to the surface now and again.
I know that stretch of canal very well. KInver is a posh village with lots of very expensive houses. The adolescents have always been a nightmare. I live about 6 miles from there. Its a beautiful place, shame about some of the residents. You Mentioned Gothersley Round House when I was a youngster in the 1960s it was about 15 feet tall and very unstable. its a few years since I have been back there. On my last visit most of the structure had been demolished and some of the brickwork had been relaid and left about 3 ft high.
Just came across your channe; good stuff. Subscribed. Unfortunately there is no cure for stupidity, just smile and wave and move on. I remember a bunch of 'chavs' as you call them, walked down the quay in my home town and untied a load of our big commercial fishing boats, bless 'em. Hopefully they won't breed. All the best from A Cornishman in South Africa.
I was thinking it might be an idea to install a very high pitched horn operated from inside the cabin. The noise would be intolerable to anyone Outside and they would have to clear off to save their ears. Good health and happiness to you.
Well.. Technically we have a few options in the projectile deterrent department, so long as you're happy with black powder. We may not be able to buy semi autos, but the intimidation factor a blunderbuss affords can't be dismissed too readily. 😂
@@ellistolchard4400 Well, I am only joking about it's use in this sort of situation or similar (because there's idiots and pathetic little twats everywhere, so it's important that I say that) but...Look it up. For your friend of course. 🤣 So long as you don't mind the maintenance involved, muzzle-loaders, including cap-and-ball revolvers- basically anything that doesn't use a self-contained cartridge other than shotguns, are completely legal (or at least they were last time I checked) and much easier to own in the UK. You need a license for the black powder, but as far as I can tell, the main question they ask as to why you want a license for black powder can be answered with "because I own a muzzle-loading firearm." 🤣 However, you'd still have to deal with the scary boiz with g36s kicking your door down if you start waving the thing around in people's faces, so I'm not, in any way, recommending anyone own them specifically for home defence, as the police and the law courts take a VERY dim view of people blasting away at each other unless you are 150% certain there's no other option and your life, or the lives of your family, are in absolute danger, and rightly so. In this situation, though... Quietly sitting and giving your blunderbuss a polish (oo-er!) when some toerags break in to your boat OUGHT to be sufficient to make said toerags question their life choices up until that moment. DO SAY: "Good morning, gents. go easy, now- I'm restoring this beaut and I'm not exactly sure if the safety catch still works, or even if it has one..." DON'T SAY: "I'm going to get Napoleonic on your arse!!!!"
Sorry you had to deal with that, people can be the absolute worst. Really enjoying your channel, coincidentally I have an offer pending a survey next week on an Orion narrowboat to live on full time. Starting to get nervous, but been learning a lot from you and the hounds :) ... especially a hankering to try Butty Bach again 😂

If that had been me, someone would have been in the canal ! It would be worth my time to come back a few nights later having moored well enough away to do some damage to those muppets.
@J P you totally missed the point of moving on and coming back via alternative means but hey sure, lets do it your way ! just let these twats carry on disrespecting who they like whenever they like !
Been following various narrowboat channels for about 4 years now and to be honest I'm amazed just how rarely this sort of trouble comes up. Either that or its Vloggers not wanting to show it. I would expect it to happen frequently and would stay well out in the sticks for that reason. National service, Subbed btw. 😁👍
Thanks for the message. Im trying to show both sides of canal life. Not just the good side like Tim and Pru bless em. Its only happened to me twice and ive been on the canals for 10 years so its not that common. Stay safe Del and the hounds.
It is rare, but lockdown has made it worse. They'll all be back at school or work soon. We'll all put it down to experience, or pick up the ropes and move on 🤗
Despite this comment being made two years ago, I just have to say this. It is NOT the job of the armed forces to have to put right what parents failed to do when their child was being raised. Why should the military have to operate with a contingent of sullen, childish, undisciplined, drug sniffing yobs when it needs to be on top of its game to defend our country. In itself, the comment 'National Service', is lazy. It comes from the same place as these yobs. Time for some self discipline and for parents (and schools) to instill in young people a sense of duty and responsibility from a very early age.
You’re not alone mate . We moved onto a boat to evade as much as possible these pond life entitled morons. Among other things . You’re honestly not alone fella in your despair and disappointment. That’s good to defend your family but don’t get sent down for some scumbags so your son ends up with a daddy in jail. Only if their a absolute threat do you take violent action. I’m a dad to two boys and I would defend them with deadly force if necessary but it would be a last resort.

Untrue. Lived on the cut for 7 years. Not a single problem whatsoever. Location is key and I am a constant cruiser with no fixed mooring. Location location location!
@@professorpumpernickel7561 yes, I think with good planning and avoiding towns or at least getting through them and only mooring when you are well clear of them will minimize the possibility of anything like this happening! Is that what you do?
My Mum and Dad live opposite the Bumblehole, Netherton. There's a beer named after it that they brew at the Old Swan (Ma Pardoes). Lovely but deadly. Bit like Bathams. ;)
People come to the canal because it's peaceful and clean and they make noise and drop litter and create a mess. Dog walkers pick up crap put it in bags then through it on the floor again. What's that about?
Hi Caroline Their names are Archie and Spike. I rescued them as pups when they were sadly found in a bag floating in a river. They are my best friends and we go on some great adventures together. Stay safe Del and the hounds.
Just found your channel 😊 I am an ex-floaty . Only had similar incidences twice over 13 years but became aware that this kinda thing used to come in waves (excuse the pun!) . Moved off about 6 years ago and don't miss it . By time I moved off it had all become a chore . Did 5 years afterwards in lovely trailer on a field (with hook up and water!!!!). Which was wonderful, am now a house dweller . Is nice to watch your day to day life , brings back good memories 😊😊😊
Thanks and welcome to the channel. I must admit it can be trying at times. Some of the idiots speeding past you plus the latest trend is for everyone to head off early to get a mooring so if you arrive at your next spot after 12 then there's nowhere to moor. Unfortunately there are far too many boats on the canals now. I'm a trader so it's my job too. Think I will buy a motorhome and head to Europe after this part of my life ends.
@@Boatdog_Traveller just out of interest. Is it the " yogurt pots " u find making up "too many boats" just ask as ad like a canal boat n this all I could look to afford. Was u just coming of a bad day when u wrote this. Its Ashame if there's too many boats. Guess we all got same idea of a good life
We hired a boat for a week and the first night near Harlow we had problems. Kids and men shouting at us to come out and banging on the boat. Very scary for us. First time on a canal boat. It made us nervous all week when we stopped. I made sure we stopped near lots of boats. But never heard anything all week
Sorry to hear that. Must have been terrifying. I try to avoid built up areas . I've only been caught out once which was on this vlog but that could have been avoided if I hadn't moored by the bench. Thanks for watching 😊
I'm a fisherman, - & your right, -The caliber of people has plunged so low. Scumbags everywhere. I've had problems with youths being aggressive, trying to steal my kit, chucking great rocks into the swim, swimming their dogs in the canal right where I'm fishing, jumping in and swimming right next to me, chucking litter everywhere, & generally being assholes. It's worrying, - especially if your on your own, or away in the sticks on very secluded parts of the canal. Maybe Klaus Shwab is on to something with the population cull. Maybe we have entered a time where it's become necessary to have small cameras strategically placed around your barge & linked up to a digital recorder; I've been looking at buying a GoPro and chest harness. Good footage of these scummers acting up and kicking off will help the authories bring these clowns to book. Good luck on your travels. The litter problem has got a lot worse since British waterways & councils don't take care of the canals and waterways.
Thanks for your comment. All I can say is that I agree with every word you say. I think the soft touch way this country is governed plus people having kids( who are unfit to be parent s) just for the benefits and to get a council house. They really do need to bring back national service to teach the little shits some respect. Tight lines my friend 👍
Stew Pony is more complex than most to navigate, but a beautiful Victorian structure. The tunnel earlier in the section only gets that status by being excavated, but in scale is like A road bridges nationwide. Glad you and the pooches made the right calls, despite soiling of your home by selfish and ignorant people.
Great content mate, not sure how I found you, (Instagram, Recommended 🤷♂️) but nevermind lol I have often wondered how life is aboard a canalboat, now I can see what it's like 😊 subbed and liked, you seem a great guy, looking forward to more content 😉👍
Just for future reference - you would've been justified in calling 999 in the first place. It is for emergencies but they will take calls for any incidents that are currently taking place. 101 is more for incidents that have already occurred (apart from stuff like house burglaries as the perpetrator could still be on the property). As you were getting attacked, you were right to call 999 as that is the only way to get an urgent response.
I was very sorry to hear about your experience on this occasion. There is clearly a total lack of respect by certain elements of the youth of today i'm afraid. Both myself and my partner love our canal walks, and it also angers me when i see litter strewn on the water and adjoining paths. But on a much happier note, i'm now subscribed to your channel and i look forward to enjoying your journeys on the water. 👍
Thanks for subscribing Ian. Yes litter is so horrible in our beautiful countryside . I try to do my bit by taking a bag with me on our walk on Sunday and pick it up as we go. Thanks for watching the vlogs
Just watched as you went through Stewpony. I live in Devon but was born in Wolverhampton & know the area well. A brother lives in Kinver. Loved the reference to Ma Pardoes (The Swan at Netherton). We used to take visitors there to show them the enamel panel ceiling . Enjoy the 21 locks to Wolves it was a favourite walk of mine back in the day.
Here in DK when you can’t get the police to come, it helps if a woman is calling and when they doesn’t react, she just has to exclaim “now they have started fighting”. Sad
If you need police to come quickly tell them " there's three or four lads about 12-13 years old, racially abusing an elderly lady" they will arrive mob handed in two minutes, when they find the aggresive MEN just say " glad you're here now those kids left- look what happened next" 🤭🙂🤔🤫🤐
i was just thinking could u not moor up on other side of canal, just not on the path for safety dont know much about rules and stuff on canals , great vid bro
Scumbags everywhere mate, nearer the towns the more there are. Worlds gone to shit in a hand cart! I often wonder what the best deterrent is, I got a rounders bat at stern door but if I used it, I'd be in nick. Anyway......happy travels dude.
Rounders bat is fine VS 9 guys trying to break into your boat as you were in fear for your dogs. Just go out and stear them like a psyco and ask they if they can swim and are there phones waterproof =)

But government would rather spend money invading other countries than sort our own out.
I just found your channel and I will be watching more of your videos. I like vids like these without any crap music and bs etc. I was once cycling along the canal on the way to Coventry and I saw a boat moored up that had perforated metal sheets covering all of the windows! They had dents in them, like "people" had been shooting and throwing bricks at the boat! I remember thinking about the state of society...
The more I hear about people, the more I love my dog!!
I know how you feel Bry. The worlds gone mad !.
The more people I meet,The more I love my dog.
The more I love my dogs the less I wanna hear about people for sure 👌
On the other hand, the more I have to listen to neighbour's dogs barking and avoid stepping in their shite the less I like dogs.

Hopefully I am buying a boat soon. I will also get an Alsatian for company and most importantly security.
Best deterrent is a big GS dog. 🐺
@@Boatdog_Traveller Thank you, and same to you. 😊
Thanks Eva.
@@Boatdog_Traveller Do you live on the boat what a way to live if you do it's amazing
Problem is... There are no consequences.
Great idea.
Thanks
Unfortunately, the one I had was useless. Washed off easily!
Bit of elsan bog blue would do 👍🏻

Thanks Doug.
Its Sad in this Day n Age there are still so many, Low Life Disrespectful Arseholes around, with nothing better to do, great Vlog, and had to chuckle at the Tiller Pin, sort of summed it up for the happenings the night before lol. Cheers n Stay Safe! 😎👍👌😉

Greetings from Gold Beach, Oregon where the mighty Rogue River empties into the Ocean
Sorry to hear you had trouble.
Stay safe.

I once watched another canal blogger go through this tunnel which was amazing to see! thanks again. x

Just found this. Jerks are everywhere. I’m wondering about security/safety on the canals. Is it less away from towns? Hang in there
There are some areas where you dont stop but most areas are fine. Just dont moor next to a bench .
You know what they say, if you can convince these type of people that the brain is an app, then they might start using it.
Love the vlog, stay safe.
I had to laugh when you gave the engine "some beans" and easily outpaced that old guy walking really slow. Nice one, watch out for the bow wave. Pity about the idiots high on drugs, but not to worry, they'll all come to a bad end.
It looks Nice , the Midlands is underrated
Simon Haresnape. I am lucky, I live very near to that stretch of canal. I think it is the best section of canal in the country.
Sorry to hear about your troubles with these idiots. My boat was round the corner ( you actually went past it when you were talking ) as you say, we are in these places for the quiet life and to enjoy the surroundings and then you get folk like that who have no respect. Safe travels matey
Thanks mate. You don't expect it in a lovely mooring like that.
So sorry you’ve had to go through this, it’s not fair and I’m with you I’ve lost faith in Society. We can only hope for change 👍
I am envisioning a small pump and some spray heads to suck up the stinky canal water and spray it alongside to . . . er, "help water the grass".
Brilliant. Well done for making a stand 👍
Thanks Tracy. Hopefully see you on the cut one day.
I'm disappointed to hear this. I've run around that stretch of canal for years and also walked and pubbed around Kinver for the past 30 years and NEVER come across any trouble. It is honestly not the norm around there, unfortunately there are scum everywhere that float to the surface now and again.
It's going to be the norm everywhere. Education and the state has failed this society.
England is fucked.
I grew up around that area and it used to be really peaceful back in the day. Seems like the breakdown of society is spreading everywhere now.
I'm sure it was a one off my friend. Still a beautiful area 👍
I'm looking into getting a shell of a boat and doing it up!
Good luck. Just make sure it's not rotten and get a surveyors Hull report 👍
@@Boatdog_Traveller thanks bud for the information, much appreciated!
I lived in Singapore for a while. There is no way anyone would dare vandalise your boat in Singapore. This UK has a lot to learn from Singapore.
Exactly!
I grew up in Kinver. That canal brings back old memories. Can't say we were dumping litter and pissing on boats though.
I was thinking it might be an idea to install a very high pitched horn operated from inside the cabin. The noise would be intolerable to anyone
Outside and they would have to clear off to save their ears. Good health and happiness to you.
And to you William.
In America we have the option of home (boat) defense ... 9mm style
Well.. Technically we have a few options in the projectile deterrent department, so long as you're happy with black powder.
We may not be able to buy semi autos, but the intimidation factor a blunderbuss affords can't be dismissed too readily. 😂
@@peterclarke7240
Is that legal?
Asking for a friend!
👍
@@ellistolchard4400 Well, I am only joking about it's use in this sort of situation or similar (because there's idiots and pathetic little twats everywhere, so it's important that I say that) but...Look it up. For your friend of course. 🤣
So long as you don't mind the maintenance involved, muzzle-loaders, including cap-and-ball revolvers- basically anything that doesn't use a self-contained cartridge other than shotguns, are completely legal (or at least they were last time I checked) and much easier to own in the UK.
You need a license for the black powder, but as far as I can tell, the main question they ask as to why you want a license for black powder can be answered with "because I own a muzzle-loading firearm." 🤣
However, you'd still have to deal with the scary boiz with g36s kicking your door down if you start waving the thing around in people's faces, so I'm not, in any way, recommending anyone own them specifically for home defence, as the police and the law courts take a VERY dim view of people blasting away at each other unless you are 150% certain there's no other option and your life, or the lives of your family, are in absolute danger, and rightly so.
In this situation, though... Quietly sitting and giving your blunderbuss a polish (oo-er!) when some toerags break in to your boat OUGHT to be sufficient to make said toerags question their life choices up until that moment.
DO SAY: "Good morning, gents. go easy, now- I'm restoring this beaut and I'm not exactly sure if the safety catch still works, or even if it has one..."
DON'T SAY: "I'm going to get Napoleonic on your arse!!!!"
Enjoyed that. Thanks so much for posting in these days of little entertainment.
Sorry you had to deal with that, people can be the absolute worst. Really enjoying your channel, coincidentally I have an offer pending a survey next week on an Orion narrowboat to live on full time. Been following various narrowboat channels for about 4 years now and to be honest I'm amazed just how rarely this sort of trouble comes up. Either that or its Vloggers not wanting to show it.
Well that was a bad experience ,maybe need a different kind of Dog.
Also the boat manoeuvres so easily, is there a bow rudder to get it over

We hired a boat for a week and the first night near Harlow we had problems. Kids and men shouting at us to come out and banging on the boat. Very scary for us. First time on a canal boat. It made us nervous all week when we stopped. I made sure we stopped near lots of boats. But never heard anything all week

Its a beautiful part of the country. 😀
Doggy people are the best people!
Enjoy your sho, I would love a narrow boat but too expensive, I can dream watching your travels xx
Thanks Fiona.
Thanks
Unfortunately most canals are not dredged on the far bank so only about 1ft deep.
Take care
Del and the hounds
@@Boatdog_Traveller oh that makes sense ta bro stay safe
Scumbags everywhere mate, nearer the towns the more there are. Worlds gone to shit in a hand cart! I often wonder what the best deterrent is, I got a rounders bat at stern door but if I used it, I'd be in nick. Anyway......happy travels dude.
Cheers man. You too 😀
Rounders bat is fine VS 9 guys trying to break into your boat as you were in fear for your dogs. Just go out and stear them like a psyco and ask they if they can swim and are there phones waterproof =)
The issue is lack of education and children raising children. We have a huge issue with teenage pregnancy in the uk and have done for a long time we also have a huge issue with poverty both quite simple to solve you educate people. But government would rather spend money invading other countries than sort our own out.
We have been boating 30years and found out pretty early on not to moor near benches, they seem to be a magnate for loud sometimes drunk folk.
The system wants us to be victims.
Great video! New subscriber really enjoying your vlog!
Thanks Derrill. Welcome on board 👍
The sooner everywhere is open again, the canal should be rid of the rats mate. Happy cruising
Yeah some parts of the network can get quite rough. Thanks for watching Ellis 😊
