A lot of people are missing the point. If you hit your partner, regardless of gender, or your mental health issues of what they did in the run up to it - You need help, and your partner needs to leave. There is no excuse to hurt anyone, unless they're hurting you first. Whitney wound Lee up, yes. Lee has depression, yes. That still doesn't make it right. If you can't control your temper then you don't deserve your partner - their trust, love or companionship.
Then there's no excuse for all the women in this show to hit their husbands. Sharon, Honey, your one who hit her disabled son over Lucy's exam, anyone. We have seen women get away with abusing men on this show so much and no one opens their mouth. Oh, but when Lee does it everyone's throwing hands. Im not saying that's what you think. Im saying that's the problem. And I agree. There's no excuse to hit anyone. My issue is with this double standard of men getting hit and women getting praised for it in shows like "hE dEsErVeS iT" using cheating or being rude as an excuse. But when a man hits a woman (even if it was to defend himself) its abuse. Its both abuse. But there's a massive double standard. That's the problem.
mate if that was the point of this story than they would have had it be Whitney who hit Lee but had the characters react the same way to it and told her she was wrong but the way it is the characters only care because Lee is male and he hit a female if it was Nancy who had slapped her boyfriend they wouldn't care Linda has slapped Mick on 2 occasions but none of the carter's acted like it was a big deal because that's clearly how the writers of the main British soaps think there's tons of similar examples on Hollyoaks and Emmerdale the only exception I can think of is the Kirsty and Tyrone storyline from coronation street but that was nearly 10 years ago now my point is is that wasn't the point of this story.
if this was what the writers were trying to say then they would have had Whitney be the one to hit Lee and everyone's reactions still be the same telling her that she was wrong to do it. doing it in this way makes no sense because frankly the show already openly comes out against violence against women the problem the show has is it normalising women hitting men for whatever reason.
I can't tell if he's that angry because he's having feelings for Whitney or he's just a concerned father in-law..but I am starting to ship him with Whitney
Sorry but if it was a woman slapping her for the reason Lee slapped her or if it was Whitney slapping Lee for that reason, let's face it the reaction would be totally different, I honestly don't blame him for slapping her, I'd have done the same, she treated him like absolute crap which is an understatement🤷♀️
Im sorry I disagree. Theres no excuse for slapping anyone. I agree with the double standard woth genders on the show when it comes to violence. Unfortunately, I've yet to watch one show that doesn't display that double standard. But that doesn't make violence acceptable. Weather its hitting or slapping. Whitney was a nasty but Lee was totally in the wrong for handling it that way. Voilence should be taken seriously and not have a abysmal double standard of women being labeled "queen" if they hit a man for cheating on them (which ABSOLUTELY happens in EE). its both abuse. Period.
@@emmacurran5259 yeah I get where you’re coming from but what she was saying was horrible, he’s suffering from depression which he can’t help and is clearly affecting him, there was no excuse to say those things, I know how it affects a person and gets inside their head, it does them no good. Obviously there’s not really an excuse but she brought it on herself, a lot of the time anger/becoming agitated is heightened with depression and happens much more easily and it’s harder to control it.
@@amyclarke2896 yeah the way his depression was handled was horrific. Not only did I feel like it was used for drama but I saw it as an insult to people with mental health issues. Which is why adding violence in the mix disgusts me. Off point. Idk why Whitney decided to spend spend her ring on a NIGHT OUT, wtf. Could she not have spend that money on... idk... therapy.
To be fair am not saying it was right what lee did but his dad kissed her and went behind his back to make a move on him and lee has depression and a metal illness no father should of done that
Mick clearly loved Whitney over Lee... yeah Mick loved his son's ex over his son himself. Hence why he's so OTT in this. Not Mick's finest time on EastEnders.
What absolute nonsense. Of course he didn't love Whitney 'more' (completely different types of love anyway). If he did he could have had her call the cops on Lee. Holding your child accountable doesn't mean you don't love them.
@@Chibbykins he didn't hold Linda accountable for hitting him either times nor did he hold Nancy accountable for hitting people you don't get to pick and choose with these things either its all wrong or none of it is wrong and since the show has already taken the stance in the past that if someone does something they deserve to be hit that's what we have to go with and Whit absolutely deserved it for the way she treated Lee.
Mick’s slang is so confusing sometimes especially when he says nut and dig 😆 EVEN THE SUBTITLES THINK ITS 🍆 hahaha Whit doesn’t deserve this crap she has never been with someone that loves her or treats her like a loving SO. It’s so annoying!!
That’s part of the point of the story, Lee was suffering from a deep depression and he almost killed himself. Nick using the term ‘Man up’ here was intentional on the writers to show the effect it can have.
@@bilalhussain1500 well he was taking responsibility for what he did. There is a reason that men have a higher suicide rate- it’s because some idiots think it’s acceptable to tell them to ‘man up’ instead of talking about their feelings and getting them mental health support.

No matter if the wife deserved it or not. You never put your hands on a woman.
Nor should a woman be allowed to put her hands on a man

I’m surprised Lee showed any sympathy towards mick about the way he’s feeling after how he treated him in this video

I think Mick and Whitney good couple

Lee hasn't much to say for himself when Mick is talking to him, all he says is "I know" to everything that's said
eastenders has gone downhill they get rid of ronnie and roxy they have done stupid storylines
