This album features some of their best crafted songs, in my opinion. I remember when these songs came out as a young boy. They lifted my soul from what was a very dark time for me coming from abuse and neglect. These songs transport me to a safe space that ABBA held within me. Eagle is one of my favourite songs that they ever did. It’s pure genius. Many years later, I decided to write a song of my own called Eagle just because I could. Have a wonderful day.
The name of the game nr 1 One man, one woman nr 2 Take a chance on me nr 3 Fantastic album I adore all of the tracks, but these 3 are my favorites😊 I remember getting it for a chistmas present from my parets ❤
Thank you for the music is absolutely my favourite track off the album. In my top 3 of all ABBA songs in fact. The harmonies are just WOW. The chord progression is also both whimsical and charming yet a little melancholy at the same time. I'm a marionette doesn't sound like it belongs on a pop studio album. But it was meant for the musical anyway.
"The Album" is my favorite among the 9/10 ABBA albums (because as a LatinAmerican I can add "Gracias por la Música" from 1980) In my opinion it is ABBA's most versatile and explorative album, which includes an unreleased high-quality mini-musical. and coincides with the release of the film "ABBA The Movie" showing the Australian tour It is also the album with the greatest parity in the level of its songs. It is very difficult to choose both the best and the weakest. It is an album to listen to from beginning to end without skipping any tracks. Still, I have my ranking: 1- The name of the game 2- Thank you for the music 3- Take a chance on me 4- Eagle 5- One man one woman 6- I'm a marionette 7- Move on 8- Hole in your soul 9- I wonder' (departure) Keep in mind that the entire album was recorded with ABBA filming scenes in Stockholm for the future film, and with Agnetha pregnant with her second child. The interview in which Agnetha tells what physical position she was in and how she recorded "Thank you for the music" is well remembered. Due to the latter, I believe that the recordings were made between two different studios. After looking at the recording dates, it's fascinating to see that the two lead singles were the first and last recorded And it's a shame that they haven't released a third single in the UK with "Thank you for the music" Thank you very much for this detailed analysis of the chronology in the recording, congratulations! I'm going to look for the previous ones you made, to leave another comment now I wait, without haste, for my other two favorite albums: Arrival (1976) and ABBA (1975) best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 PS: as an anecdote of mine I am 66 years old, at those years in 1978 I had recently been listening to ABBA and I was not yet a big fan like The Beatles or Bee Gees; when I bought the vinyl of "The Album", I cut the song "The name of the game" several times, lifting the pick of the record player to try to distinguish the voices of Agnetha and Frida hahaha
I always love to read your comments since they are really interesting and well crafted. Anyway, I also believe that this is one of their best albums ever, not a single song to skip!!

Muy interesante tu comentario! Adoro este álbum también, ya que siento que experimentaron y consiguieron muy buenos resultados!!

Why isn’t the album recording (sessions demo outtakes) not available?
