i have this hitch on my 31 foot fifth wheel. Its easy!! It works!! Its awesome!! I took my trailer in for service, they locked my latch open on me and I didn't know it. Towed it all the way home unlatched!! Scary and lesson learned!! But no damage. I have an older truck with a B&W turnover hitch and I bought the Fifth wheel adapter plate... I can tow any typical trailer type around (5th wheel, gooseneck, or bumper pull). And my reese goose box leaves my pick up box much more usable than if I had a couple hundred pound of 5th wheel hitch equipment in it all the time.
I'm not sure if you lube your gooseneck ball. Which helps for the friction. Then they also make a boot. You can put over the ball to keep the grease on the ball when not using it.
Can this style hitch be used on a 2019 Ford F250 truck with a standard 6.75 foot bed (oem puck system) and not have to worry about the front trailer cap (cab) hitting the truck cab when making sharp turns and reversing?
My first time seeing you guys & I am glad I watched your video. My truck got totaled & my bride fell in love with a different truck. I have a ford 2013 F350 with a B&W gooseneck. I am looking into which way to go. My 5th wheel right now is still 5th wheel. One thought is to change the 5th wheel to gooseneck or get the adapter to go from gooseneck to 5th wheel. The Anderson weighs 48 pounds & removes easily. Yes I have to get up into the bed of the truck & remove it. I rather not have to & go the way you guys are. My concerns are if I break down how easy is it to get someone to tow a gooseneck compared to a 5th wheel. As I write this I think I will call GoodSam & ask them. Hopefully you guys have not need a tow or never will. Maybe someone out there has come across this . Thank you guys for a great video & I am going to start to watch more of your great videos. Also thank you in advance to whoever might answer my question. Sorry for rambling
Your lucky I'm upgrading from a TT to a 5r so far I haven't found a RV dealer that will sell me a Reese Goosebox 😔 in the Sturgis area, for some reason each one I've gone to makes all kinds of excuses some say its a bad idea? Some say they don't deal with Reese? One even said a regular pin Box is easier when you need your bed back just disconnect the plate from the bed and let it hang from the Pin,? I may have found a place that will install it but I have to order it myself and bring it to them. Ohh yeah one said it's going to void the warranty? I know that's not true it's the only Goosebox approved that won't Void anything.
So bizarre why you are getting so much flack for wanting a Reese. Stay the course it’s worth it - you will love having the bed of your truck available.
Congratulations on your recent appearance in RV Today. You guys are the rising stars in the RV world. I think you’ve just stamped your tickets for 2022 and beyond.
I have been watching your channel since you started putting out videos. I believe you put out the best content around. You go to the most interesting content in some of the smallest towns. For only being less than a year old, you keep me entertained! Thanks a lot!
Unfortunately, these aren't compatible with units that come equipped with the Turning Point pinbox! I would love to switch out my turning point pinbox!
We had to pull it down- it kept falling. We think it’s because we applied it in the KC cold 🥶 so we are going to try again in the Florida heat and see if that will help. We have friends that it has worked for them so it has to be how cold it was when we applied it.
I put the Reese Goosebox 20k on my 45’ toy hauler as well for the same reason. I hate the huge 5th wheel hitch in the truck. We love it and I cannot believe how smooth it is. Love it. Had dealer install before delivery as well.
EVERYBODY GETS A FIRST TIME. HENCE, NEWBIE. WE ALL LEARN FROM MISTAKES, HOPEFULLY. JUST DON'T SPEND A LIFETIME HAVING A FIRST TIME EVERYTIME ALL THE TIME WITH EVERYTHING ATTEMPTED.
Good review. And the warranty comment at the end is so important. I was told (by Heartland) that the warranty would not be voided as long as the dealer installed the Goosebox. I was good with that in 2019 and have been happy with it ever since.
I also have a Reese 20k Goosebox with a B&W extended ball and handle. I use a portable wireless Iball camera with a magnetic base that I mount to the handle right next to the ball…works great ( I also added colored tape to the front of the hitch). I love the Reese Goosebox for many of the benefits you mentioned….no tug test needed as with a kingpin and 5W hitch. What puzzles me is why we don’t see more Reese Goosebox hitches on 5th wheels. BTW, I believe Reese is the only Goosebox that Lippert approves on their 5W frames. Great vid.
Well potholes are still something wicked - I swear we are gonna break a spring someday.....ugh. Some roads are just horrific! However, we do notice a difference with this hitch
I’ve watched you’re channel for about a year. I’ve been looking for a 5th toy hauler and finally found just what I’m looking for. 2019 Grand Design Momentum 395! Hopefully I’ll get it in July. Thanks for this review on the Reese 20k. It’s just what we’ve been looking at and it’s look perfect!
When I ordered my 2018 Ram 3500SRW with factor air assist suspension and puck system I ordered a Reese Goosebox. At the time you could only get a Gen 1 as the 2 was not out yet. I am not sorry I did. I don't have as many miles as you, but not going back to a king pin hitch. I hook up solo 99% of the time. No cameras. I usually only get out and look about twice per hook up.
Thank you for this! My husband never wanted a 5th wheel because of the hassle and loss of space in the truck bed. We have been thinking of moving up to a smaller (33') 5th wheel in a couple years and I just told him about the reese gooseneck. I will have him watch this video to hear all the (as he calls you) Lucky Penny guy's opinion.
Can you make a 90 degree turn with it? I saw a video that showed around 80 degree before hitting the side rails , but he did have 3 inches of bed cover rails hanging over inside the bed
We have the Reese 20K also and chose it for the same reasons, I want to have my bed clear without having to handle a 200# plus hitch. I wouldn't even consider going to a traditional hitch. I love the goose box.
Great show and information. You did a great job on teaching. Though I do not have the same system it made me think about the air levels and smoothness. I will need to look this over more since after we left you guys at the huddle we did have a big bridge in Jacksonville FL with a lot of stop and go since they were working on the bridge. Needless to say because of all the bouncing mom and I hade glass everywhere from a cabinet from all the bouncing.
Thanks so much Todd and Shiela! I absolutely hate that the bed of our truck is tied up with a 100# hitch. So appreciate you sharing this as I’ve wondered about the gooseneck. Now trying to get hubby to make the switch before we start our journey in January. .
Enjoyed the video. We have the Andersen Ultimate hitch in our 2021 Ram 3500 DRW, 8' bed truck. We got it before we knew about the Reese. The truck also has a 50 gallon aux fuel tank mounted in the front of the bed and is about 4~6 inches below the bed rails. I would like to hear something about how much you can carry in the bed of the truck, without interfering with the Reese during tight turns, when the RV is hooked up and does your tool box prevent a full 90 degree turn. The Andersen has tripod legs which give it a larger footprint but many things can be slid under, between, or next to the legs and I can sill make full 90 degree turns if required to get into a tight spot. The Andersen only weighs about 35 pounds do it can be removed with little effort and either hung from the adapter or stowed somewhere else that's convenient. I look forward to any thoughts offered. Now.... If the price of diesel fuel would just get back to where it should be!
Interesting vid! We have the Reese Goose Box and love it. We have 2 other goose neck trailers, horse and flat bed, and this is the perfect choice for us too. We tow with a 2019 F450 and also worried about the clearance but it is excellent. Our rig is much smaller than yours, only 26 feet, and we don’t even know it is behind us. Love all your vids!!
Berkey rides empty in the sink - the things I leave on the counter we have glued that nonslip grippy stuff to the bottom. Yes, I think that is the technical term lol
We looked at the reese 20k but unfortunately it wasn't going to be enough for our 399th loaded. I like our demco but man it takes up all the bed and is to heavy to pull in and out so it just stays. Switch it Up!

Have you taken the bottom section of or peaked under the cab and see how many cracks you have in your fifth wheel frame since using that? Don’t do it people it’s not worth it your frame will crack within the first 600 miles these frames are not designed for that one way whatsoever I don’t care what lippert says I guarantee you his frame is cracked somewhere

Considering switching over to the Reese gooseneck box. Great review! Thanks...

I know I've commented before about this but WE LOVE OUR REESE GOOSEBOX!! It is absolutely some of the best money we have spent.
I’ve had it for about 6 months and I’m so glad I switched! I installed it myself.
I've had one on our32ft. Montana for four years now and LOVE it.

I did the same as you. Brand new installed at the rv dealer best investment you can make for towing a 5th wheel.
how do you access front grease zerk?
"I" have commented on EVERY video... Lol!!!!! Love you guys!
That's fabulous --- I was about to ask a couple people where they have been.....little did I know Todd just hid them from us :)

That view from Talona Ridge is gorgeous.
Yes it is! Talona Ridge has an amazing RV Resort going on up there on that hill!

Hi. #1 I think
Hey Matt
Thanks for the review, JD from BTBRV cant say enough good things about them either and I value his opinion as well. In your application I think it is a really good fit. We on the other hand are going MDT or HDT and I come from the trucking industry so with the right hitch and suspension set up, I think I can keep wifeys stuff on the vanity on travel day as well. And still load quad, kayak, or motorcycle on the deck....
Did you get anything for the original pin box.
No - but we didn't ask but in hindsight we should have at least brought it home and tried to sell it ourselves
Good video. You had my interest and I don't even own a 5th wheel.
I’m also a fan of the Reese hitch. When you all continue your life on the road, will you get the independent suspension?
If then yes :-)
My wife suggested that a video be taken inside the trailer while traveling. I suggested that Sheila could ride inside and take the video?
We switched from an Anderson hitch to Reese Goosebox and LOVE IT. Yes, significantly better ride (says the wife!). If you could…what about the air level in the Goosebox, you set it higher or lower and how often? We are week-enders and usually have to fill every time. Do you?
