In line with your a.m. marketing conversation, here Rolex has the greatest base of upscale watch owners in the world but it has not seemed to have been able to penetrate the dress watch market. I don’t know what the Cellini production and sales numbers are but they cannot be too prolific. That said, the watches are well designed and the quality is certainly there. While the Prince is in a niche were some of the references can command $10,000, other references like the Danaos are available at $4,000 and represent real value in comparison with say an Omega DeVille. Without worrying about investment value, the Cellinis are a heck of a buy. I don’t have the Cellini movements in my mental calculator but if they are chosen from within the galaxy of Rolex movements or close relatives thereto sharing parts (as I would guess) this would be a plus. The ease of servicing a Rolex movement, the relative cost of such service, the wide range of those capable of providing such service and the ability of Rolex movements to go on for years beyond the normal service intervals without problems all make a Rolex dress watch very attractive in comparison to a Holy Trinity dress watch. It's a no-nonsense watch with a touch of class. Could easily pass as a dress as well. For a man, a watch that size I think would be a terrific dress watch but only in black. The VC is a beautiful watch and the only one of the ones you mentioned that has the Geneva Seal (not sure about the AP)...however it's a tough choice when the two Rolexes are cheaper and gold vs. the steel VC. But about $ 15k for a watch finished to Geneva Seal standards is an incredible value.

Hey Bill. You know, I agree w you sometimes you have these wonderful watches that are totally over looked. Bit if I had my choice in buying a sleeper gold watch at any discount, i think any one of those VCs you kept mentioning might be the better quality or value don't you think ? Now maybe a bit pricier. But I just think when it comes to a sleeper in precious metals...Vacheron would have to be at the top of the list.
For me, there's enough gold in my Historiques American 1921 to check the gold box, but the one I like most now is this baby: www.vacheron-constantin.com/en2/watches/historiques/historiques-triple-calendrier-1942-3110v-000a-b425.html ... in stainless steel. For sheer uniqueness, i'll take the quai de l'ile. The Rolex Cellini is almost perfect, but make it a bit thinner (no need for open caseback) and put it in steel, then let's talk.

I'd take the Quai de I'lle over any other watches in this video. However, the modern Cellini is pretty tempting but I don't understand the Cellini's movement though.
The current Cellini just uses cal.31XX which is a workhorse but rather boring as a dress watch.
How about as an Office Watch?🤔
