The Oklahoma City Thunder have secured the #1 seed in the Western Conference. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has put on a performance this season worthy of having him in MVP conversations, Chet Holmgren has made an immediate winning impact in his rookie season, and Jalen Williams is one of the most improved second year players we've seen in a long time.
All of this is great. But can they actually win it all? Even more, can they get out of the first round? The OKC Thunder potentially face some interesting matchups with possibly facing the Los Angeles Lakers in round 1 depending on how the play-in tournament shakes out, and the Lakers have done a good job against the Thunder this year.
But outside of them, the Thunder have done a fantastic job against mostly every team in the Western Conference this year, and they've put together a track record of being great against great teams. So can they win it all?

Coach Daigneault is the true decisive factor now heading into the playoffs - period! He has been brilliant all season in using the skills of every player - like using Holmgren's height distributing the ball to open shooters and Giddy as SLOB Meister - just for examples. All this chatter about being a young team who "ain't paid their dues" is not intimidating this group of men. Individually they've been groomed for this and playing a lot of basketball a long time. And up front is Daigneault bringing the best out of his ball club! This is impressive coaching!

If you asked any nba fan and really any okc fan preseason what the expectations for the year I think most people would have said secure a top 6 seed with this young core would be impressive. They blew those expectations away this year. I don’t think they match up well with Denver but winning 1 maybe 2 playoff series would be huge in building a foundation for the next decade with this team
