Love your new hair cut! I prefer something that is quick and easy. I’m more of a bag, flannel/fleece blanket, pillows and basket type sewer. Have made a patchwork bag that I did quilt. Thanks for sharing. I might have to try this one.
Love watching your videos. I like small projects but I think that's because I've not tried bigger ones! Not much confidence. Just got to get on with it I suppose. Thank you for sharing this beautiful quilt tutorial. I love your hair down by the way. Best wishes from England xxx
+Louise Eldred That makes sense! Quilting can seem scary if you've never tried it. But the piece part is just sewing small pieces together, so not too hard.
It’s an adorable quilt! I like the easy Quilts for those days when I don’t want to work hard but I also enjoy the challenge of a more involved Quilt to try new sewing skills. Your hair is cute!
Beautiful quilt, Whitney! I like quick & easy projects! My sewing machine has cobwebs right now!! I lost my sewing mojo, & I have been doing a lot of hand work instead. But, maybe this project is just what I need to dust off the machine & get sewing again!!
I totally like the quick ones. Although, I tend to make the tops and then they get put in a basket to be finished at a later date. Small town living makes me have to order a lot of batting and stuff online. This is a perfect tutorial because I have a baby blanket to make out of fat quarters!
+chryssypye87 I'm the same way, love making the tops, but not so great about getting them finished. But last year I was focusing on finishing projects and got a few quilt tops quilted and a couple pieced and quilted without setting them aside to 'rest' for a long time. Maybe try finishing an old project for every new one or two you start :)
+kel posch Right?!? I was so happy when I got it finished, photographed, and out the door...especially since the baby is now 7 weeks old. But better late than never.
I’d like to make this but bigger and using bigger rectangle blocks. Can you recommend larger block sizes that would look nice? I think I can figure the layout for a larger size….
Your video mentions 14 different fabrics. I checked your website but I only counted 10 different fabrics, excluding white. Am I missing something? Love this pattern.
I made that quilt several years ago so I can't remember. I might have started with 14 then decided some didn't look as good in the quilt and set them aside.
Hi! I just made a brick quilt top but I'm having trouble figuring out how to quilt everything together. Should I start in the middle top of the quilt and follow the seams like a zig zag down to the bottom/side (if that makes sense)? That's what it looks like you're doing in the video but I'm not sure. Also, should my needle be lined up with the seam or should it be slightly to the left/right? Thanks so much for your tutorial!
Yes, I kind of zig zagged around in an attempt to have as few starts and stops with my thread as possible. I tend to stitch as much on the seam line as possible (called stitch in the ditch) so my quilted inst as noticeable. But you can do whatever you like. If lining your presser foot up with the seam line and stitching beside it is easier for you then go with that. Or you can stitch a random design all over. The actual quilting part is my least favorite of the whole process, so I just tend to go with easiest to get it done.
This is a great gift. I like quick and easy for newbies in the sewing
+Bella Jae Awesome!
