  • Alabama's Sam Walters has officially entered the transfer portal, following behind Rylan Griffin. Whether it's opening up roster spots or better minutes elsewhere, Alabama is in an excellent position in terms of scholarship player numbers and incoming talent. In this age of the transfer portal, roster management has become increasingly difficult but Nate Oats & Co.appears to be handling it well, with only Aaron Estrada out of eligibility.

Agree completely with LT. Bama is in the best place it’s ever been in. Only the strong survive

That’s just crazy. Alabama is one of the hottest teams in college basketball right now. It may be a flash and over soon, but right now they’re hot. They have UCONN a hell of a game. UConn is a storied program so for Alabama to do what they did is amazing.

I doubt they're coming in to Oats office and dropping a number. They probably feel like they could go somewhere else where they would play a bigger role and with that comes bigger NIL deals. Sam Walters isn't getting crazy NIL offers as Bama's 7th leading scorer. He has a better opportunity somewhere else. It's almost like switching jobs.

I don’t understand why they’re leaving. Especially Griffen. What the heck

They can say they played in a Final Four but they’ll never be welcome in Alabama the same way ever again. Whole generation of kids who won’t have that “family,” soft place to land, network, of an Alma Mater.

We already had an open scholarship that was given to a walk on. We have 4 players in the portal not 3. Parker, Griffin, Walters, Cosby and we lost Estrada so that 5 guys leaving with 5 coming in with one spot still open.

Not sure why anyone would leave Bama they had a great yr. if you stay you can build on the success even more. The transfer portal has got to stop or collage will start suffering like the pros are. Sports isn’t even sports anymore. All about money. If I was Alabama I wouldn’t bring in any body that is gonna leave. It’s garbage

Well I'm surprised and I don't like it, I figured they were staying, Walters was up and coming he done some good things and Griffin was already established and a good player but Nate Oats will fill them spots ROLL TIDE ROLL

@Veteran0831 yeah we needed better defensive play, I'd like to combine Nate Oats offense with Wimp Sanderson defensive style of play when he coached BAMA
