Yep. This is a lesson to us Kenyans who believe that tribalism can end by not speaking in our mother tongues. We may have a unifying language which is Swahili but we can't ignore the other languages in our country. South African music and Nigerian music is big because they embrace their culture. I am proud to say atleast Sauti Sol have a hit song in Luhya language.

@@LolaBugzy85 As an Afro-American, living in a country built on white supremacy, I understand the struggle for cultural identity. Ngugi Wa Thiong'o talked about the importance of language in his book Decolonising the Mind: The Politics of Language in African Literature. Colonialism "most important area of domination was the mental universe of the colonised, the control, through culture, of how people perceived themselves and their relationship to the world. Economic and political control can never be complete or effective without mental control. To control a people's culture is to control their tools of self-definition in relationship to others. For colonialism, this involved two aspects of the same process: the destruction or the deliberate undervaluing of a people's culture, their art, dances, religions, history, geography, education, orature and literature, and the conscious elevation of the language of the coloniser" (pg. 16).

When you get climpse of where you originated from as an African it gives you a great feeling. especially when you realize you were stripped away from your country and you were taught nothing of your Origins. Its definitely a blessing to see African culture ! Please continue to put this out there for the world to see. Big up Nigeria❤!
