Einstein's theory of relativity states that information cannot travel faster than the speed of light. While this principle is widely accepted, applying it to specific physical models can be tricky. For instance, some particles can move faster than light if they don't carry new information. A recent study expanded this idea to include collective excitations in matter, like sound waves. The study found that while these excitations can seem to spread faster than light in certain conditions, this doesn't break the rules of relativity because they don't transmit new information.
