If you are close enough to a live wire, where you need a hardhat/helmet thats not only non conductive, but good to 20kv. You've broken a major safety policy number one, or number two. Youve been put in a position to do something you clearly werent experienced on. If you are close enough to a live conductor, to wear your hard hat could hit it. If its 20kv, and you are grounded. Your ass is toast, quite literally! That arc from 20kv could easily jump to your ear or a sweaty wet spot on your shirt/neck! This guys aware of this, and is basically saying. Its not a catch all. Its not intended to be touching live wires or conductors. Its just more ideal than having a metal hard hat, which could have an arc contact it. Before it even touched a live conductor etc etc.

Dave. Your gear locker appears well organized, and very well stocked. I have to dig into bags, to find anything. Sharing your key organizational/methodological tips that facilitate production would make an interesting video, and highlight products that you use/depend on.
But protos claims that they have the only true side impact rated helmet. I have one and I was hit hard in the side of the head, across the ear. I barely felt it. I am extremely safety conscious and I got mine because I wanted the most protective helmet I could find. I don't do line clearance though so I don't need an E rated.
Grat vid....I have been working at this place call Davey Tree in Ottawa ON becoming a utility arborist....So I bought this helmet Petzl vertex Canadian version 2019....I have not got it yet I'm supposed to get it about the middle of this month....I hope it's a Type e helmet? As I learn from your video that's probably the type I should have?

Interesting video. I would have liked to know more about the restraining mechanisms like rear or side ratchet and the lining options for winter.
Actually wesspurs own website says that the Protos is a class 2 rated for side impact protection.
