    Even though I do not have a new grandchild coming, I want to knit this blanket--maybe for myself!

    Had to laugh about lifeline instructions to go around stitch markers. First time I used one I went right through the markers. Surprise! Mine were metal, of course, so instead of cutting them out, I left them and used new markers in next row. Later when I slipped out the lifeline, markers came out, too, ready for next use. Actually your videos are the best lifeline, so thank you.

    Thank you for your clear instructions and examples! That blanket is beautiful, though it appears simple! I truly enjoy watching your videos! They are full of valuable visual and auditory information! It usually takes both for me to fully understand! I can really see the need for a life line and am telling myself that a life line is a must, just like knitting a swatch is a must. God bless you and your family!

    Just completed this baby blanket. Relatively straight forward. I enjoyed how quickly it knit up. It is so soft after it’s washed. Just waiting for the next new baby to give it to. I had to use the life line a couple of times - thank goodness you mentioned it in your video. (sometimes watching TV and knitting isn’t always a great idea). Love the site, and the inspiration you give me.

    A beautiful blanket and it looks so simple. Thank you so much for explaining what the stitch looks like. I'm a beginner knitter and I usually have to bring my project to a store for help. The lifeline is also a wonderful idea I should use more often. Lorraine

    I taught myself to knit years ago by book and learned the throw method. I love how knitting looks but never did much because it always took me so long, so crocheting is my thing. Then I found you.

    Another great project video!! And there are soooo many interesting options for the border!!
    (On a side note, I'm currently knitting a sweater vest, so I couldn't help but notice that the knit-one-below stitch would make an amazing vest!)
    Thank you!

I wanted to make this as soon as I saw you posted a pic on Instagram, I've not done the K1b stitch for a while...and never in a large project...I thought the stitch looked peculiar, but now I know I'm okay to continue :') #LiteralLifeline I just hope I have it done in time #BabyOnTheWay

    I was gifted a large cone of maroon cotton yarn. A washcloth I knit faded! 😒 I would like to knit the yarn into this blanket for my furkid. Do you think I could put it back in hanks and soak the die out? Although the washcloth did not fade on my hands, I'm afraid that it might have time to while knitting a larger piece. Knitting practice pieces become blankets for my furkids. They don't care if the stitches are wonky.😜

    Say you have to tink back to your proactive lifeline, how do you replace your stitch markers? In this pattern it seems it would be pretty easy because you can just count stitches to the point of where the stitch marker was place originally, but how about piece where the stitch changes because of decreases and increases? Thank you.

    Hi - I love, love your channel. I am planning on making a baby blanket with intarsia involved (it has little sheep in it!) and I need to put a backing on it to make it look a little neater. Do you have any videos on adding fabric backing to knitted blankets? I really appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks!

    I'm making this now. Very easy to do but I'm still on ball 3 on size 10and it seems really big. Will it shrink up or was there enough for two blankets in the kit?

    I watch all your videos and learn something new all the time. I was wondering if you could answer a question. There is a sweater pattern I would like to do it had some color work around the neck. I am trying to find a alternative to using wool as I cannot wear wool. Would you know of a good substitute for the sport weight wool yarn. Would really appreciate any suggestions. Cotton would not work and Alpaca seems to have the same itchy feeling. Thank you

    I bought this pattern and want to enlarge it. Not really double it, but maybe 1.5X's larger. More like crib size. Is that possible?? I can figure out how to make it longer but, it's the wider aspect I'm not sure of. If, because of © rights, you can't answer that on here, I understand. Such a beautiful pattern. I want to use it to wrap and not just drape. I'm on ravelry, username.. itsallaboutlight

    Easy way to get stitch markers off your lifeline; at the stitch markers, pull up a loop in lifeline and clip it, remove stitch markers and tie a knot in lifeline. 😀

    Hi- is it really important to get gauge when knitting something like this? Does it really matter how tight it is after washing? Thank you!

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 років тому +2

      If you like the look of looser or tighter gauge, there is no problem - since blankets aren't a fit garment, if it ends up being a bit smaller or larger, it still functions as a blanket. I focus heavily on the gauge in this pattern for two reasons - the gauge is very loose when you're knitting, but tightens up after washing. Additionally, when you're working from a kit, it is important to get something close to gauge so that you know you'll have enough yarn.

    • @jeanedevries1
      @jeanedevries1 5 років тому

      Perfect, thanks! :)

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 років тому +1

      You'll want to machine wash and machine dry this blanket in this yarn. Regarding the stitch pattern, I don't know that there is a name, I've been calling it a k1b pattern.

      Do you know you can thread the lifeline through the tightening hole in your interchangeable needle and it will magically work its way into place as you knit a row.

  • @jeanedevries1
    @jeanedevries1 5 років тому

    Help! Just started this blanket and just finished the first cable row. In the pattern, it states "only make the cable on every 12th r. (the second cable will be on R17) What?? So cable row 12, and then row 17, and then every 12 after that? Wont that look weird?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 років тому

      You're going to repeat rows 3 through 6 of the "knitting instructions" section, and repeat the cable row every 12th row. I wrote it out to make it easy for myself. The first cable row is row 5, then 17, then 29, then 41 (every 12th row).

    • @jeanedevries1
      @jeanedevries1 5 років тому

      @@verypinkknits thanks so much! After posting that comment I read the rest of the comments below, and realized that I should have cabled the 5th row first, not the 12th. Doh! Hopefully my infant grandson won't notice.

  • @traci7955
    @traci7955 5 років тому

    I am hoping someone can answer my question. I looked on the Raverly forum for the pattern, and someone asked the same question, but it wasn't answered. The pattern says to put a cable on the fifth row, but the pattern also says to put a cable every 12th row. If you put a cable in the fifth row, you end up with 25 cables. Should I disregard the cable in the fifth row, and only put a cable in every 12th row?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 років тому

      Traci - you're going to START the cable design, your first cable row, on your fifth row of knitting. Then you're going to repeat the cable every 12th row after that. Beyond that explanation, I'm not sure I understand your question - perhaps you're confusing rows and stitches? There is only one column of cables in this blanket.
